QUESTION: WHAT DOES A NOOSE HANGING MEAN TO YOU? Check out how a "Noose Hanging" is handled in other parts of the country and let us know what you think. Hate Crime, Threat or Childish Prank??? Employees Find Noose Hanging At Work: [New York] Link: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/01/05/che...ose/index.html James Jackson, a 26-year-old black employee of 180 Connect, was preparing for another day of installing cable, telephone and Internet service to residential customers of Cablevision in Nassau County, New York on December 7. When he walked to the fenced-off area to pick up equipment for the day's jobs he looked up and was shocked to see a vicious, racist symbol in his workplace. A noose was hanging in the fenced-off equipment area, visible to the dozens of installers, the majority of whom are black, but accessible only to his boss and an equipment manager, both of whom are white. Jackson, a former messenger who had worked at 180 Connect for a year and a half, immediately confronted the equipment manager, Dave Willie. "I asked Dave," Jackson told CNN, " 'What is that hanging up there?' and he said, 'That is a noose' and I said, 'I know it's a noose, but why is it up there?' And he walked away." Jackson and his co-workers say they were distraught. "I just wanted to leave. I wanted to get out of there," 180 Connect employee Ralph Satterwhite told CNN. "I was disgusted The installers say they never complained to Human Resources. Instead, they consulted with a labor attorney, documented the incident, and decided to file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Installer Shomari Houston, according to the complaint, says he asked his white boss, Gary Murdock, why a hangman's noose was in his workplace. He says the response was: To hang two black employees. "He said, 'Yo, I like that, it's cool, I am gonna hang Russell up there. Think we can get James up there?' " Houston recalls Murdock saying. "I looked at him like, 'You serious.' " Jackson says he continued to ask that the noose be taken down, and openly recorded the following conversation with Willie. Jackson: "Who's that for, the rope?" Willie: "For anybody who goes past that door that I don't want them in there." Jackson: "Hang 'em?" Willie: "Yeah." After a week of complaints, the noose finally came down. The next day, December 14, the installers went public with their gripe, announcing their plans to file the EEOC discrimination claim. Police investigate hate crime in Deleware Link: http://www.newszap.com/articles/2007/08/07/dm/central_delaware/dsn04.txt The Brockam Bridge Road crossing bore a swastika and an outline of a person being hanged with a noose and racist slurs, such as “Here lies 1 dead nigger” and “Dead nigger bridge,” scrawled on the road and wooden guardrail. The bridge has been repainted and State police are investigating the racist graffiti as a hate crime. They reported 77 hate crimes in 2005, 95 in 2006 and 18 to date this year. “Let’s be clear, one is too many,” Col. MacLeish said. “We have zero tolerance for this.” Racism case heads to court in Florida Link: http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070905/NEWS01/709050325&template=news0309 A retired city water department employee will face his former employer later this month in a suit against the city alleging he was the victim of racial discrimination, including an incident where he found a hangman's noose, made of the kind of rope used in the department, lying on a lunchroom table.. In the suit filed in Brevard County's 18th Judicial Circuit Court, James Daniels claimed a hostile working environment existed for him and other black employees because of repeated acts of race-based harassment. A trial date has been set for Sept. 24. Daniels is seeking at least $200,000, the maximum amount of compensation for damages. In 2003, the city settled out-of-court with Daniels' colleague, Elbert "Tex" Williams, who sued for racial discrimination and one claim of false imprisonment. Williams, who worked for the city 10 years and resigned in 2001, received a $100,000 settlement. Roofing Company Racism Charges Detailed [New York] Link: http://www.13wham.com/mostpopular/story.aspx?content_id=0359651a-568b-41f8-ae2e-a60ee583152b Early in his 13-year career as a roofer at Elmer W. Davis, Samuel Crenshaw recalls climbing a ladder and seeing a noose hanging.“We got to work and there was a noose hanging on the ladder,” he said. “And it hurt. Crenshaw told the EEOC that supervisors subjected black workers to daily jokes about their race and the “n-word.” The EEOC investigated Crenshaw’s complaints and found they had merit. Officials from the New York regional office said attempts to settle with Elmer W. Davis were not successful. They said a lawsuit is a “significant” step and is a last resort to get a company to comply with anti-discrimination laws. “Here is the federal government putting its weight behind Mr. Crenshaw's allegations. They have concluded not only did these things happen, but something ought to happen as a result of the discrimination he suffered,” Germantown, TN aldermen back theater worker firings over noose Link: http://www.wbir.com/news/regional/story.aspx?storyid=48813 City administrator fired three city theater workers who tied hangman's nooses on the ends of rigging ropes after a an African American employee complained. This is the ugly history of this country. A society that brings about this kind of racism and oppression is worthless. This is just one reason as to why we need a Revolution.
There's a very informative and OUTRAGED article about what is evoked when people use the N-word and talk about lynching, which would also apply to these instances of disgustingly racist intimidation and attack. It's called: Michael Richard's Racist Rant, Strange Fruite and 50 Shots Available at Revcom.us -Alice |

I just dont understand what is going on in the world today! So much hatred, racism, and some of us are still living what seem like "slavery days" Is it ever going to end? It seems like the harder we try to do the right thing, there's always somebody or something trying to hold us back. My black friends at work ask me would I be going to Jena if it had been the other way around (the white boys on trial) OF COURSE I WOULD BECAUSE WRONG IS WRONG NO MATTER WHAT DAMN COLOR YOUR SKIN IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...and Obama thinks he has a SNOWBALL'S CHANCE IN HELL of becoming president????
He needs to stop listening to the hype and wake up to the REAL WORLD!!!! President Andrew Jackson, whose pictured on the 20 dollar bill, once ordered that a female slave named Betty recieve 40 lashes because he didn't like her attitude. After she recieved her "punishment", he said that if she ever gave him any trouble again, that the next time he would have her beaten publically. It was also reported that Jackson killed some free black men at a negro fort in Florida, as a demonstration of white supremacy. Jackson, being a slaveowner, resented runaways slaves and the natives that hid them. And Obama thinks HIS name will be alongside the likes of Jackson???? Wake up and smell the coffee!!!! |

Get Legal Protection!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------- Family- Pre-Paid Legal Media Spotlight Event Justice for All | Accessing the Promise I am very excited to announce that on September 29, Pre Paid Legal will be featured on Court TV. This documentary about Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. will find an audience with those interested in a revolutionary solution to the growing problem of limited access to justice. The program will be informational and educational in nature and provide a glimpse into this unique company and the service plans I offer as an Independent Associate of Pre-Paid Legal Services, Inc. Far from a typical documentary which focuses on something interesting but may have little direct impact on the individuals viewing it, this program will address needs that most people have. Most people who do not have access to legal counsel will simply accept their circumstances and go on. When the credit card company charges unfair fees, when your cell phone service provider is unreasonable, or when an invoice is higher than quoted, what can we do but pay and go on? In many cases, and for most people, it’s not about whether we will absolutely have to have an attorney. It’s more about whether having an attorney could make a difference through empowering us to make better decisions, resolve conflicts, and have peace of mind. This program will address this concept and much more. I hope you will tune in to Court TV on September 29th. Please check local listings for program availability in your area. September 29, 2007 11:00am Eastern 10:00am Central 9:00am Mountain 11:00am Pacific If you’d like more information, please contact me: ANGELA WILLIAMS BRUMMEL Independent Associate (708) 359-9423 Email me at abrummel@prepaidlegal.com Family, this is a way for us to level the legal playing field! knows what this hateful gesture means! It is in the HATE CRIME category and these children & their parents, who have taught them such things, should be arrested. It is ABOUT TIME that parents that teach HATE CRIMES are to be brought DOWN along with their CHILDREN! The courts drag parents DOWN when children skip school, etc.
The kids get it from the parents and their parents got it from their parents all the way back to their ancestors. PRAISE GOD FOR MY ANCESTORS IS ALL I CAN SAY. MARK MY WORDS THEY WILL ALL WISH THEY WERE MINORITIES IN THE END, WATCH & SEE!!!!!! Always: LOve, PEace & HArmony all over the world
