Exclamation Who do I get in contact with about show ideas???

Hello,
My name is Arlene Crawford. I must say I am so proud and elated that there is a forum for people to network, listen, and more importantly be able to let the community know about such great opportunities. I have been trying to find out how I may get in contact with someone at your show for a very extrodinary story. I know if we were given the opportunity to just talk with you about the show idea it would do wonders for you and the Baisden community and family. I have tried to submit the story idea at your website,showideas@happilysingle.com and every time I try to submit it, it just comes back undeliverable. I have also wrote pye@michaelbaisden.com and did receive a response back from you, however I am still having problems trying to identify who would be the best person or place to post this incredible story idea, in which I know Mr. Baisden would want to hear more about, please try to assist me in any way that you can so that this incredible story can be told. There is a write up pasted below about the story and please let me know who I can specifically speak with to submit the story. I thank you all for the wonderful things that you do and I hope that this letter can be shared with your team and Mr. Baisden, and we humbly hope that you will get in touch with us. Please read story below. Thank you again and hope to hear back from you soon.

Respectfully yours,
Arlene Crawford

An African-American Prep School Transformed
by Arlene Crawford
August 26, 2007

An African-American Prep School Transformed
Laurinburg Institute, the nation’s oldest private Black Prep School, emerges from one of its darkest periods just in time to celebrate its 103rd birthday.

By Arlene Crawford

Few institutions have embodied African-American history as completely as Laurinburg Institute. Laurinburg Institute reflects a history of Excellence and Achievement. It is now the only Black institution of its kind in the United States. Started in 1904 by Emmanuel Monty and Tinny McDuffie, with only a small piece of swamp land and a dream of providing quality education and guidance for black children. That dream is being realized every day, but it has not been without a tremendous challenge.

The Laurinburg Institute is a private, non-sectarian preparatory school offering residential education in grades 9 through 12. Capacity enrollment is 135 boys and girls from all over the United States and many foreign countries.

The leadership of the School has remained in the McDuffie family through three generations. Frank H. McDuffie, Sr. son of Emmanuel and Tinny was President from 1953-1990 and was succeeded by his son Frank H.”Bishop”McDuffie. The family has truly dedicated their lives and committed themselves to the education and welfare of young men and women from all walks of life.

In 1904 at the request of Booker T. Washington by the parents of Dr. McDuffie, Laurinburg Institute is currently the only independent secondary boarding school predominantly African-American owned and operated in the U.S. for 103 years (1904-current) it served as the only independent secondary facility for African-American students in Scotland County.
Laurinburg Institute has played host to some of the most famous and influential African Americans of the 19th and 20th centuries. Dizzy Gillespie, the pre-eminent Black Jazz Musician, Sam Jones, Called "Mr. Clutch" by many of his peers, Sam Jones was one of the linchpins of the fabulous Boston juggernaut of the 1950s and 1960s. His uncannily accurate bank shots, lightning quickness, and cool demeanor helped the Celtics win 10 NBA Championships in the 12 years he played with the team. During his career Jones racked up 15,411 points at a 17.7 points per game clip, and shot .803 from the free-throw line. Selected to the All-NBA Second Team three times and an All-Star five times, he was elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1983, Charlie Scott His basketball pedigree, which took root on the campus of the University of North Carolina, is second to none. After a successful college career in which he helped kick start the Tar Heel hoops tradition as the school's first African-American starter, Scott played a key role on the US Olympic team in 1968. Then, after two years in the ABA in which he averaged 30.6 points per game, he joined the Phoenix of NBA in 1971, with whom he made the All-Star team three times in four seasons. Perhaps his greatest moment as a Celtic came once again on the visitor's court, this time in Phoenix. Scott paced Boston with a solid 25-point effort in the historic Game 5 against the Suns. He also added 11 rebounds, three assists, and five steals. Other notables, Laurinburg Institute Prep had 14 players sign NCAA Division I scholarships in November and will have 6 more sign in April. The Tigers might have as many as three players opt out of college and enter the NBA draft in June. The Tigers are led by 7-1 Ivan Chiriaev, who has indicated that he will certainly enter the NBA draft, 6-10 Memphis recruit Shawne Williams, 6-10 LSU recruit Magnum Rolle, 7-0 Memphis recruit Kareem Cooper, 6-4 Washington recruit Robert Sallie and 6-11 Iowa State recruit Kellen Lee. 6-3 guard Jamel White has signed with Nebraska, Mike Smith with Ole Miss, Mitch Mullis with Charlotte, Antonio Anderson with Memphis and Robert Dozier has signed also with Memphis. Several national recruiting analysts have called Laurinburg Prep the best prep team ever assembled.

Celebrating its 103rd anniversary this year, Laurinburg Institute continues to showcase the viability and promise of the small private, historically Black Prep. This anniversary comes at a time of uncertainty and financial hardship for many small Black institutions. Laurinburg itself only recently overcame arguably its largest financial crisis since the school began.

In 2007, the prep school was facing a 850,000.00 annual operating budget. However, A group of Laurinburg Institute Alumni pulled together and identified themselves as the, "Dream Team" and decided to launch a Fundraising campaign and title it, "Sewing Seeds for our 2nd Century." Since minimal time the "Dream Team" installed their faith, steps from God, and working together as a team and immediately began to make a difference by contributing their own monies of $1000.00 per team member, and the institution has since found its bearings under the covenant of God through tithing. Laurinburg Institute's financial turnaround has sparked a new sense of optimism about the future of the College Prep School.

Under the support of the "Dream Team", Board Members, as well as the McDuffie family Laurinburg Institute has taken on a new life and is poised to grow," speaks Arlene Crawford a successful Alumni of Laurinburg Institute and a "Dream Team" member.

“I would say on the broader institutional issues, The Dream Team, Board Members, as well as the McDuffie family has been very strong and positive on behalf of Laurinburg Institute. This collective group has taken a troubled institution, stabilized it, and gotten it in a position where it can begin to rebuild and have a positive future,” adds Arlene Crawford. Laurinburg Institute may not be as picturesque and visually impressive as some other small rural campuses in the state, like the local High School The buildings at Laurinburg are mostly brick concrete and sprawl across a flat spread in Scotland County. They project an austere, almost industrial look to the campus. But that cold, impersonal image is almost immediately dissolved by the palpable, family-oriented spirit that pervades the campus and manifests itself in the interactions among the faculty members, administrators and students.

It’s not unusual to see Mr. Frank H. Bishop McDuffie, Laurinburg’s President, and Headmaster winding his way through campus buildings, dispensing hugs and high-fives, teasing some students, and urging others to make appointments with him to discuss serious matters. Bishop conducts himself like the concerned Headmaster at an urban high school or the adult brother prodding younger siblings and cousins to do their best.
Arlene Crawford, a successful 1983 Alumni., says the personal, caring spirit of Bishop and his family had sparked her own intellectual and social growth. She says that spirit helped ease the transition from her city of Boston Massachusetts life to existence in isolated, rural Laurinburg NC.
Bishop and his family sets a strong example of how a president can prove a motivating force to students like herself.

Laurinburg’s faculty and staff radiate a can-do spirit that seems to be absorbed by the students. In contrast to the days when the prep school lost staff, enrollment dropped and low pay, administrators like Bishop can now talk confidently about prep school plans to build new dormitories to accommodate student enrollment growth. And they are stepping up efforts to secure fundraising funds to enhance the school campus and faculty.

Currently, Laurinburg enrolls 45 residential students and operates a continuing educational and athletic division that serves roughly between 45 to 60 students. Since fall 2007, tuition, fees and room and board for residential students have stayed consistent at $14,088.00 Ninety-five percent of Laurinburg Institute students rely on financial aid.

A complete reorganization of the school’s academic programs, combined with an aggressive fund-raising campaign, was necessary to start the healing process at Laurinburg Institute.
Laurinburg Institute plans to host a number of alumni events during the spring, summer and fall, aimed at spotlighting the work of the history of Laurinburg Institute and the future of the school. As a representative and Dream Team member I feel that Laurinburg Institute will transform itself over recent years.
Laurinburg’s ability to attract resources, expertise and funding reflects the school’s historic stature and its importance to the nation.
“We’ve had the worst of times and the best of times since 1904,” The Dream Team will generate the better of times.

Default STUD...the Look into stud lesbian women...Choices the Novel

Hello,
I have listened to the show numerous times and I especially love when you deal with homosexual relationships. I would like to know who to contact about doing a show topic on why so many straight women are turning for butch/stud women.

My name is Skyy and I am the author of CHOICES, a hot new novel dealing with the love, life and drama of relationships. Meet four friends, three are gay, two of those are butch/stud women. Cooley, the stand out character is EVERY woman's dream. So suave in every way, she even makes straight women think twice, maybe three times.

LENA has her life already planned for her. Daughter of the wealthy and very prestigious alums of Freedom University, Lena's only worries are to finish college, join her mothers Sorority and marry her first love-The superstar college basketball player Brandon. Everything in her life seems perfect, until someone makes her think about trying something new.

DENISE has made the choice to put love on the back burner. Her only concern is to make her grandmother proud by finishing school, playing basketball and getting the hell up out of Memphis. Now a junior she is almost to her goal, until a beautiful stranger causes her to rethink loving again.

CARMEN made the choice to have weight loss surgery to help her become the woman she always dreamed she could be. Unfortunately the surgery only helps the physical not the mental. Her choices lead her into the life of a new love, but her low self worth causes her to considering going back to the person who broke her heart.

COOLEY is known as the ladies woMAN. She has worked very hard to build up her "killa cap" reputation. Girls of both sides of the orientation fence crave her, and she is willing to give. She finally makes the choice to settle down and find real love, but the women of her past aren't ready to let go and will try everything to keep her.

This book has gives the most realistic look into the black lesbian lifestyle. It shows just how a straight woman can become curious and what happens when that curiosity is acted on.

I would love to be a guest on the show if you ever have another topic dealing with lesbian lifestyles. Men ask the following questions all the time. "Why date her if she looks like a man? What can she do that I can't do? Why are all the fine women turning gay?" I can and will answer them all.

Thank you and I hope to hear from you soon.

Greetings,
I would like to have the opportunity to speak with Michael Baisden. I am the owner of one of the only black owned financial services companies in the United States.

I offer financial opportunities to those who are in need of finding a way to step out of their paradigm, live a life that they deserve and to finally become a financially free individual. This is a 5 figure per month opportunity because everything in this world revolves around credit cards, debit cards, small businesses and electronic payment technology.

Some of the services that my company provides are:
A suite of financial products including but not limited to credit card processing (100% more reliable than Paypal or any bank, banks resell these services from organizations like Vanhorn Group), ATM machines,Wireless Credit Card Terminals Gift and Loyalty cards, Stored Value cards, Check Processing Services,Payroll Services,Banking Services, Identity Theft Protection programs, Credit Restoration Services, Prepaid Visa and Mastercards (for those who may be unbankable etc) and much much more.

This is not a network marketing opportunity, this is a private company owned and operated by an executive who loves business and one who has a spiritual love for helping people get to where they need to be in the coming years.

I am 35 years old, live in New York City, I own the company and I have been in business for more than 10 years.

Best Regards,

Default Past,Present,Future Black Heritage Trivia

Mr. Baisden ,

My name is T. L. Mack and my business partner, Mr. M.W. Dukes II and I, are currently developing a fresh and enrich way to educate black America and other ethic groups, on how brilliant the black heritage is and the powerful impact fostered on the development of this country and world.

Mr. Dukes and I would like to use your website as a test bed to collect raw data from radio listeners who surf your website and the Mingle City.com members. The objective is to test individual’s knowledge of black history. We have three levels of questionnaires. The questionnaires are comprised of ten questions of actual events that have shaped the country’s advancements and setbacks. The collected data will be used as confirmation on how desperately the need is for education, as we meet and present these facts to potential investors. Mr. Dukes and I are diligently working to bring forth an exciting/competitive trivia game that will challenge, teach, and hopefully spark interest in black history once again. Let’s be perfectly honest, black history really isn’t black history anymore. Its water down and there is a need for drastic change when it comes to knowing our history. Our goal is to raise awareness of how beautiful the black heritage is and has always been. Before we can ever understand, our present being, we must first recognize and appreciate, our past. Mr. Dukes and I feel as though, it’s our calling to educate the masses, one question at a time and what better way is their?

If you are in support of our efforts Mr. Baisden, Mr. Dukes and I would like to arrange a meeting with you and your staff on how we all can work together in making this happen.

Sincerely,

Tristan L. Mack

Default Enough is Enough!!!!!

Dear Mr. Baisden,

This will probably be very long, and I apologize in advance. I would like to first say thank you for everything that you do. I have been listening to you for a while now, and I think what you're doing is very, very positive.
I'm a Graduate student so I'm too poor for cable, and I do not get any channels on my television, so I'm grateful for you because I wouldn't have a clue as to what's going on.
My thought's on the Jena 6 case:
It has been proven through science that for every action there is a re-action. So given that, the fact that this kid is in the hospital, is a direct result of an action that was re-acted upon. If anyone wants to blame anyone, the PARENTS of the "white" kids are to blame for this whole situation. This is what I mean, if the "white" kids parents wouldn't have raised them the way they did, to be racist, then thier child wouldn't be in the hospital right now. Instead they would be getting ready for let's say homecoming. So I say that it's the parents fault that their child got beat up and is now residing at the hospital. It is not appropriate to hang noose's up in tree's. It's 2007 for God's sake!!!!!
Micheal I have a theory, and it goes like this: If we keep trying to oppress people and keep them in their "place", it will ultimately be the demise of America. We have too many other countries that hate us for us to be yelling "Nigger", "Wet-back" and "Cracker". America was founded on the very notion that this would be a country where people can come and be "free". Personally, I'm just plain sick and tired of it all. I live in Denton County Texas, and I don't know if you know about this county, but it is known as "The Good Ole' Boy" county. They're so racist in Denton, it's unbelieveable. I feel like this, as far as Denton is concerned: Why in the HELL would you allow two Universities build colleges in your town? Did they think that things would stay the way they were forever? Ummm, we, I mean African Americans go to college too!!!! I have found that alot of "white" people find it interesting, so to speak that I myself am so "smart". Conversations with my other "educated" African American friends, have said the same thing, that they feel as if "white" America has a problem with the fact that so many African Americans are going to college. Why do you think they keep raising tution? Becasue they're trying to keep certain people from engaging in a higher education. Many people do not know this but for every ONE balck man that goes to college, a 100, yes I said 100 Black men go to prison. And "white" women wonder why Black women get angry whenever we see them with a "good" Black man. I have a theory on the whole Inter-racial dating thing as well, and it goes a little something like this:Now all of this is from years of observation, not just something I just woke up with one day. I feel like "white" women only date Black men because, 1.) They're trying to piss Mommy and Daddy off, 2.) they think it's cool, "oh look at me I date Black guys" or "I'm really a closet racist, so I'll make Black women mad by dating one of "their men", this is more of a controlling mechanism, hence I have a "slave" 3.) it makes them feel better about themselves, it helps to improve thier self-esteem. Now don't get me wrong if it's true love, then by all means do what you do, but 9 times out of 10 I can promise that one of the above if not all apply. All of this relates to what's going on in our Country today. Why is it that "white" people hate us so much but they do the following:
1.) Tan in tanning beds so that their skin can be dark like ours? Sometimes, I'll see a "white" girl that's sooooo dark from tanning, she looks like a damn Black girl, what's up with that? If you don't like us, then stay you're own damn color.
2.) Get lip, butt, breast implants, so they can look curvy like Black women?
I had one of my "white" friends tell me the other day that she wanted lip plumping injections so that she could have lips like mine. But Black is bad?
3.) I know you've seen people with big hole's in their ears? Well, that came from Africa? I was in a tattoo shop one day in Denton, and I mentioned that, and the tattoo guy was like "yeah, I knew that, it also came from china". I had to tell him "No, sweetie, it originated from Africa, and the bigger your holes in your ears/lip the wealthier you are.
4.) We can't keep nothing: from dark chocolate, to music, to the way we dress, they either find some way to capitalize on it, and if they can't then they use legislation and laws specifically worded to single us out.
Denton State School:
Well, Micheal, I too have been subjected to Racism all of my life, and I'm just saying this because I am Black. I used to work for the State of Texas, and I was fired from my job, during probation, for no reason. After applying for unemployment, two months later, I was told that the reason why I was fired was because, get this "I was late for a mandatory meeting on June 19th". Now, this is the deal, I was working in management, so I was off that day, hence June 19th, you know the day that the slaves in Texas were freed, yeah. But the day before which was the 18th, I called in because I was sick, and on top of that I had a doctor's appointment on the 19th! Now, Micheal I know you can see as well as I can why I was fired. Because I'm not a "yes/no sir Nigga", and I had to miss my doctor's appointment because I thought I was going to loose my job, and I was complaining about it. Why am I at work on a holiday for my people, and I'm just sitting in my office looking at the walls? Also, not even 30 days before all of this, I broke down and had a really bad anxiety attack becasue I got fed up with the racist statements/jokes that kept being made, and nothing was done about it until I went to Administration, and the only reason why they "administratively" moved me was because I threatened to go to the EEOC. So I was told that June 1st, 2007 I would be transferred to another unit, well on June 22nd I was fired for a meeting that I knew nothing about, on a holiday that I had off because I was in Management, Micheal do you see the irony in this?
With all this said Enough is Enough!!!!! I have been ready for the "New Revolution" to begin, because you know that to the "white" people The Civil Rights Movement FAILED.

Thank you for your time,
Stephaniee

Wink Adding to the enough is enough slogan...

Hi Michael,

I would like to give you a very hugh thank you. Our community has been long overdue for someone like yourself to take a stand like you have from every issue you discuss to every concern this community faces. I ran across another story dealing with hate crimes and I wanted to spread the word about it... It isn't just about our boys but our girls as well. I found this on the internet a few minutes ago. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070913/ap_on_re_us/ This story is about a young african american lady who had been kept captive and torture for a week. The story as I said was displayed today.

As for the Jena Six, I want them to keep their heads up and know that there is alot of love out here for them. It takes a village to raise a child and it takes that same village to stand up for that child. I love all my people and those that love us back. I am proud to see that we are taking a stand about these issues. It shows that we can come together in times like these..

Michael Baisden, you are always saying where are our leaders. I say you see one every time you look in a mirror. Thank you for taking a stand and being who you are.

Wink more information on hate crime..

Hi Michael and family

I'm not sure if this was actually discussed on the air Wednesday, unfortunately I am not able to tune in until an hour or two after the show begins but I will share what I know just on the strength of passing along information.

... I went back to look at the news article again and good morning america aired this piece on Wednesday morning. Yahoo news has a link to it but the one I gave earlier isn't coming up. An associated press writer named Shaya Tayefe Mohajer wrote an article about it called "no hate crime charges in torture case". This happened in Big Creek, W.VA.

Stay strong and positive,

MZ_ Passionate1

p.s. I agree; enough is enough!
