I'm having a hard time trying to open a new thread, but I hope you get this message. My oldest son was beaten and as a result of the beating, became very depressed. There is so much to say, but I'm a little tired right now, however, my son was accussed of robbing a bank and is currently in the Chesapeake city jail and my 17 year old son was put out of high school at the same time. I was to complete college, but was unable to do so. Me and my sons have been through a lot for sometime now and I've been to numerous sources for help. This story concerning my oldest son was aired on WAVY TV 13 on 12/28/06. The case will be heard on 9/10/07 at 10 am. Keep me and my sons in your prayers.

I'd like to direct this comment to Michael Baisden. I have tried to listen to your show, because I love the music on the station that airs the show, but I'm sorry, I just can't do it anymore. Your comments are ludicrous and the statements that you make are consistently racist. What are you trying to do? It seems that you are just trying to make people angry. This is in a time when the world most certainly needs more LOVE and unity, but you choose to stir up angry emotions for some reason. For example: On todays pre-recorded show regarding the topic of Music and youth of today, you made one of the most ridiculous and stupid statements I've EVER heard. I had to change the channel immediately! When interviewing Chuck D, you asked him if he felt that there may be a 'conspiracy' by whites, to only have negative black music lyrics played. My God, how stupid do you sound?!! It's a damned if they do, damned if they don't approach! If whites play popular black music by popular black rap artists, on the radio, then damn them for trying to 'conspire to degrade African Americans thru music'. Conversly, if whites DON'T play popular black music by popular rap artists, then you blame them for NOT PLAYING OUR MUSIC. What would you like Mr. Baisden? For whites NOT to play the music kids are listening to? So that you can blast them for being predjudiced against black music....Or for them TO PLAY the music that kids want to listen to, only to be criticized AGAIN for conspiracy. Give me a break. It's people like you that are making the country worse. Stop blaming somebody's great, great grandfather for something that they can't help. Stop blaming everything on the whites. It only angers people and it only makes you sound like a stupid, angry fool. If you can't show a little unity and togetherness, then you shouldn't be on the air. YOU'RE the one promoting segregation. Sure, there are always going to be predjudiced, stupid people in the world, but it appears you are one of them.

Why are the mom's training the daughters to be too agressive with the boys?
I see a huge mistakes in the mom's acting like the daughter is thier girlfriend.
At twelve and thirteen years old these young ladies are already dominent toward the males. And not only that, my son and I get the cold shoulder by the parents because I told my son to "slow down".
What is up with our morality? Why is it passe' to be the soldier we need to be for our kids before our rights as a parent is overtaken by the judicial system. Be real on all issues with your kids. Take the time to train your kid do not leave it to the enemy which is always willing to press down our future!

Mr. Baisden,
I am a 22 yr. old female who loves listening to your show. However, I must voice my opinion on how I disagree with you and your callers on todays topic on todays music. I am tired of older adults downing our music, and saying "music just aint like it use to be" of course it isn't! Times are changing. Music is changing. I do agree with you that there is A LOT of music out there that is straight garbage. But there are TONS of artist out there that ARE promoting postive lyrics, that accuratly portray the struggles that our Black youth are facing. The ONLY current day artist that you mentioned was rapping postive lyrics is Lupe Fiasco. There are so many more out there; Commom, Ise Lyfe, Kanye West, Mos Def, Andree 3000, Big Bio, Tallib Kweli, Nas, Slum Village, the Neptunes, etc.. I urge you to become more educated on our music, before you get on the air waves and put out a mass misconception on the current state of our music. The real problem is why aren't these positive rap artist getting airtime! The radio CHOOSES to play the same 6 songs on the radio, and THOSE are the songs that you are judging your opinions off of. I really wish that you would have took the time to research what is really going on. I still love your show, I just had to voice my opinion on this topic.
Thanks,

i enjoyed the show today and relate.
i think the music played on MAINSTREAM rap stations is ridiculous. we're not talking about the good underground hip hop that IS out there, because good is very few and far between & doesnt get airplay- because that's what being underground is all about-- not selling out.
i miss real groups, and real artists, like gil scott-heron, or kool & gang for example- using instruments orchestrated with actual musical skill & knowledge. saying something that hits home or resonates with you somehow, and just makes you feel good. it never goes out of style because it is timeless.
i'm 27, and all i do is school myself daily on classic tunes from the 70's-90's, cuz in my opinion, that's the time when music was making history in a positive progression.
bring back the vibes!
