Mychal Bell of 'Jena 6' ordered to juvenile facility
http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL96/5145195/10478043/283297055.jpg
(CNN) -- A black Louisiana teenager at the center of the racially charged "Jena 6" case was ordered Thursday to spend 18 months in a juvenile facility, after a judge ruled he had violated his probation for earlier juvenile convictions, a source with knowledge of the court proceedings said.
Mychal Bell, 17, who was freed two weeks ago after his adult criminal conviction for beating a white classmate was overturned, was sent to the Renaissance Home for Youth in Alexandria, Louisiana, the source said.
The decision came at the end of a two-day juvenile court hearing that was closed to the media and public.
Carol Powell-Lexing, one of Bell's attorneys, said the judge's decision would be appealed.
Bell was freed on $45,000 bail on September 27, after an appeals court threw out his conviction on battery and conspiracy charges in adult court and remanded the case to juvenile court.
But Judge J.P. Mauffrey agreed with prosecutors that Bell had violated the probation he was given for four previous juvenile offenses, including two simple battery charges, the sources said.
Bell had been placed on probation until he turned 18.
Civil rights activist Al Sharpton, who has championed Bell's case, denounced Thursday's decision as "revenge" by the judge and called on Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco to intervene.
Demonstrators in September took to the streets of the small town of Jena to protest how authorities handled the cases of Bell and five other teens accused of beating white student Justin Barker in December 2006. The incident was a culmination of fights between blacks and whites.
Many said they were angry that the students, dubbed the "Jena 6," were being treated more harshly than three white students who hung nooses from an oak tree on Jena High School property.
The white students were suspended from school but did not face criminal charges. The protesters said they should have been charged with a hate crime.

Amid furor, DJ cancels party for 'light-skinned' blacks. 'I made a mistake, local party promoter says after Internet backlash.
A local DJ and party promoter retreated Thursday from a plan to sponsor a bash that would let "light-skinned" black women into a downtown club for free.
But the "Light Skin Libra Birthday Bash" at Club APT on Woodward Avenue turned out to be a bashing -- of promoter Ulysses "DJ Lish" Barnes after word of the unusual party spread on the Internet.
"I made a mistake," Barnes said. "I didn't think there would be a backlash." Barnes, who said he's been a party promoter for six years, canceled the event. He said he has gotten angry calls and e-mails from around the country about the party. "I didn't mean to offend anyone," he said. "I had planned a party for other shades (of black women). We were going to take a shade of color each week. Next week was going to be a party for 'Sexy Chocolate' and the week after that 'Sexy‚Caramel.'
Barnes is African-American and describes himself as "dark skinned." The issue of skin color is an often painful and emotional among African-Americans. The history of slavery and the resulting legacy of intra-racial segregation have sometimes pitted darker-skinned and lighter-skinned blacks against one another.
A noted Los Angeles-based activist who goes by the name of Pearl Jr. was among the chorus of voices complaining about the party.
"I had a good conversion with him and he understood," said Pearl Jr., founder of the Black Women's Movement in Los Angeles and the author of the book "Black Women Need Love, Too."
"Ignorance can't always be an excuse," she said. "Colorism is real in the black community. It's especially very degrading to dark-skinned black women."
The party's discriminating tone harkens to the day of the "brown paper bag test," which compared the complexions of blacks to a brown grocery bag before they could be admitted to social clubs and affairs, said Pearl Jr.
The activist said she had a heart-to-heart talk with Barnes and he immediately told her he would cancel the party. "He was basically falling in line with what we have been taught (by society) that the less African-looking you are the better you are," said Pearl Jr. "Basing whether someone is admitted on their skin color is discriminatory, which is really against the law."
Comments on Web sites and blogs about the party included urging a boycott of the party and filing a lawsuit against the party's promoter."The way this should be handled is that our light-skinned sisters should refuse to go unless the darker-skinned sisters received the same treatment," wrote one blogger. "We must stand together and not allow ANYONE, especially, a club to divide us."
Barnes said he is hoping to host an event to raise money for a charity to make up for whatever problems or pain he caused over the party flier.

Doctor: Girl's Wrist Not Broken in School Melee
http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=local&id=5703026
Eyewitness News asked Latrisha Majors, Pleajhia Mervin's mother, for permission to speak with the family doctor. Majors gave that permission. The doctor revealed that the student, who claimed her wrist was broken, was not injured.
The 16-year-old claimed her wrist was broken when guards were called to the lunchroom at Pete Knight High School last month.
Now her doctor says that she was not injured. That comes as activists demand charges against the students and parents arrested in the melee be dropped.
When Pleajhia Mervin claimed security at Pete Knight High School fractured her wrist, it stirred protests by civil rights activists demanding justice. With the permission of Mervin's mother, I spoke to her doctor by phone, and he told me Thursday after treating her there is no indication that her wrist was fractured. And he says medically it is listed as normal.
About 35 protestors gathered outside the Antelope Valley Courthouse in Palmdale on Thursday morning. They demanded no charges be filed against Palmdale High School student Pleajhia Mervin, her mother Latrisha Majors, and two other students involved in the much-publicized videotaped melee at Pete Knight High School several weeks ago.
Each were booked for battery on the heels of the tension in which Pleajhia Mervin was detained by school security after apparently getting into an altercation with authorities for failing to clean up the mess from a birthday cake she dropped in the lunchroom.
Mervin claims her wrist was broken by security. Officials with the district attorney's office say no charges have been officially filed. The incident is under investigation.
Civil rights leaders from as far away as Atlanta joined Thursday morning's protest.
"We're not going to sit ... and let this type of discriminatory practices and a act of violence to be embarked upon upon our young people," Charles Steele, of the Southern Christian Leadership Conf., said.
Pleajhia Mervin's arm remains in a sling, supporting the wrist she and her mother claim was fractured during the videotaped chaos.
I spoke with her doctor, Albert Amoani, an emergency room physician at Lancaster Community Hospital. He says after treating her there is no medical indication of any injury to her wrist. He says it's normal.
He says everything else that may have been injured, including her head and shoulder, checked out as normal. Her mother maintains otherwise.
"They put the cast on her, they gave her the sling, they gave her the pain medication. It's not only her wrist. Her shoulder is bruised, her side is bruised, her back is bruised. You know it wasn't just her arm that was hurting her," Latrisha Majors said.
A source in the sheriff's department says when Pleajhia Mervin was taken into custody on the heels of the incident, she was asked if she was injured or in pain. And he says she replied no, she was not.
The doctor says even though there is no medical indication that Pleajhia Mervin's wrist is fractured, he says he decided to go ahead and put it in a sling because she said it hurt.

Good Evening, Mr. Baisden
My name is Raymond D. Plowden, II, I'm with a IVNET.TV. I'm looking to contact the person handling the Jena 6 fundraiser. What we do at IVNET.TV, we do live global broadband web cast on the internet. What I would like to do is make the Jena 6 fundraiser available to all of Michael Baisden fans that can't make it. What we do is charge a fee between $10.00 - $20.00. The contributions raised from this is divided (negotiable). A live web cast will enable the listeners that can't make it to be apart of the event. Our server can handle millions of fans logging in at different speeds. So I would like for you give me a call at your earliest time to see if this would be something you would like to have available to the fans.
1. What is global webcasting?
A global webcast uses streaming media technology to take a single content source and distribute it to many live viewers all over the world.
2. How does it work?
A live stream is "pushed" or sent out to our custom multimedia server network which then distributes it anywhere in the world simultaneously. So that anyone that listen to on the radio or online can view the fundraiser. The contribution raised for the fundraiser can be great.
Thank you
Raymond D. Plowden, II

I Must Say That I'm Not Surprised. I Knew Bell Wasan't Going To Get Off Scott Free. The Day After The March Cnn Ran Their Show, Judgement In Jena. A Black Official From The State Said That Bell Had Already Been Chardged 4 Times With Simple Battery, And Was On Porbation When He Helped Assult The White Kid. In The Following Weeks I Thought I Was The Only One Who Cought This. Because Everyone Was Still Asking Why He Was Still In Jail. It Was Because He Violated His Probation. Listen, Despite All The Racial Injustice In This Whole Situation, You Still Have A Teenager With A Prior Record Who Violated His Parole By Doing The Very Thing He Was Arrested For 4 Times Already. The March Was A Sucess But What Are They Going To Do About Bell. This Kid Needs Help With Anger Issues. He Doesn't Know How To Keep His Hands Off Other People. Who's Going To Take Responsibility For That?

We need mass action by an outraged citizenry, fed up with the failure of our politicians to end this constitutional crisis. A crisis caused by a power mad leader, who all but a few fanatics and zealots believe is a liar and a fool. A leader who effectively rules over us as a dictator because no one in authority will stand up to him, and no one in Congress will challenge him, despite the overwhelming desire of the American Public to see a stake driven through the heart of his disastrous war policies, his abrogation of our laws (including the Constitution), and his regime's continuing and ever more numerous violations of our individual rights and liberties.
A General Strike, whether on October 17th or November 6th or
whatever date you prefer, it's a good way to start.
Join a General Strike on October 17, 2007 (anniversary of the original Solidarity strike in Poland) to protest the war and the inaction of Congress in relation to every issue that affects our country, congressional inaction to rein in the Bush administration. If you can, stay home from work, school, trips to the mall, etc. that day and spend quality time with your family and/or friends on behalf of a more peaceful world. For more details go to

What is a boycott?
[A boycott is when consumers of some product or service choose to not purchase that product as a means of protest. By not purchasing the product, they hope to bring about change by bringing economic pressure to bear on the provider of that product or service. Boycotts are only successful when a critical mass of those consumers decide to stop purchasing the particular product or service.]
One important civil rights movements boycott in recent history: The Montgomery Bus Boycott of 1955-56 and the United Farm Workers boycott of table grapes (and other produce) in the late 1960s and early 1970s. “The Montgomery Bus Boycott had implications that reached far beyond the desegregation of public buses. The protest propelled the Civil Rights Movement into national consciousness and Martin Luther King Jr. into the public eye. In the words of King: "We have gained a new sense of dignity and destiny. We have discovered a new and powerful weapon—nonviolent resistance." (Montogmery Bus Boycott)

IT IS TIME WE SHOW AMERICAN OUR ECONOMIC POWER. AFRICAN-AMERICANS NEED TO BOYCOTT. HERE ARE SOME IDEAS. THE BOYCOTT COULD BE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:
Boycott #1: Refuse to buy anything other than gas and groceries. Only attend Black owned restaurants and stores. Only attend Black owned and produced entertainment products.
Boycott #2: Refuse to spend any money for Christmas 2007.
* On Friday (usually people payday) wear BLACK
* End Boycott when Mychal Bell is set FREE. If, they hold Mychal Bell in jail for 18 months. We boycott for 18 months.
In the words of King: "We have gained a new sense of dignity and destiny. We have discovered a new and powerful weapon—nonviolent resistance." (Montogmery Bus Boycott)
In the words of African-American people of this United States: "We will say we have gained a new sense of what is fair justice and and we will stand up and protect our children from unjust racial incarceration. We have discovered a new and powerful weapn--economic power."
A BOYCOTT RESPRESENTS POWER. READ ABOUT THE 1955 MONTOGOMERY BUS BOYCOTT
The Montgomery Bus Boycott a year-long protest in Montgomery, Alabama, that galvanized the American Civil Rights Movement and led to a 1956 decision by the Supreme Court of the United States declaring segregated seating on buses unconstitutional.
In December 1955, 42,000 black residents of Montgomery began a year-long boycott of city buses ( Montgomery Bus Boycott ) to protest racially segregated seating. After 381 days of taking taxis, carpooling, and walking the hostile streets of Montgomery, African Americans eventually won their fight to desegregate seating on public buses, not only in Montgomery, but throughout the United States.
The protest was first organized by the Women's Political Council as a one-day boycott to coincide with the trial of Rosa Parks, who had been arrested on December 1, 1955, for refusing to give up her seat to a white man on a segregated Montgomery bus. By the next morning, the council, led by JoAnn Robinson, had printed 52,000 fliers asking Montgomery blacks to stay off public buses on December 5, the day of the trial. Meanwhile, labor activist E. D. Nixon, who had bailed Parks out of jail, notified Ralph Abernathy, minister of the First Baptist Church, and Martin Luther King Jr., the new minister at Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, of Parks's arrest. A group of about 50 black leaders and one white minister, Robert Graetz, gathered in the basement of King's church to endorse the boycott and begin planning a massive rally for the evening of the trial. Graetz offered his support from the pulpit of his predominantly white Lutheran church. The Montgomery Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which had been looking for a test case for segregation, began preparing for the legal challenge.
On the morning of Parks's trial, buses rumbled nearly empty through the streets of Montgomery. Police officers with shotguns roamed in search of imaginary "Negro goon squads" who they believed were forcing blacks to stay off the buses. After Parks lost her case and was convicted of violating the segregated seating laws, black leaders met again to organize an extension of the bus boycott. To this end, they formed the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA) and elected King as its president. That evening 7,000 blacks crowded into Holt Street Baptist Church, where King inspired the audience with his words: "There comes a time when people get tired of being trampled over by the iron feet of oppression."
With this speech, King was able to spark the black residents' collective outrage into a grassroots movement that would sustain the boycott. The Montgomery Bus Boycott followed King's credo of nonviolent resistance, even in the face of a police crackdown and attempts by white supremacists to undermine the protest. Montgomery police threatened to arrest taxi drivers giving discount rates to the black riders, and when the MIA arranged carpools, the police systematically harassed drivers, arresting them for allegedly going too fast or too slow.
Many white supremacists joined the White Citizens Council, one of many racist citizens' organizations that gained power throughout the South in the 1960s. Convinced that there was an outside mastermind of the movement, they focused their attention on terrorizing boycott leaders. Vigilante groups set off bombs at black homes and churches. In addition, there were several police sweeps, and twice King joined the other black protesters in Montgomery's crowded jails. In one attempt to sabotage the boycott, the Montgomery Advertiser, a white newspaper, planned to put out a false story that the boycott had ended. King and other leaders, warned in advance of the story, traveled late that night to the rural jook joints where black workers went to dance and drink. Thus forewarned, African Americans continued to stay off the local buses. Shortly after, the Advertiser announced that Montgomery was on the verge of a "full scale racial war."
Even as the protesters and black leaders were confronted with escalating violence, they maintained both nonviolent resistance and their exhausting day-to-day schedule without public transportation. At the same time, the MIA moved ahead on the legal front. On February 1, 1956, shortly after a bomb went off in King's home, the MIA filed a federal suit against bus segregation in the names of four black women.
In the spring, protesters led by Nixon turned the tables on the local government and caught the attention of the national press. Indicted under a statute that prohibited boycotts "without just cause or legal excuse," leaders presented themselves at the courthouse rather than waiting to be arrested. The national press came down to cover the scene of black leaders marching into the courthouse while hundreds cheered them on. As protesters walked to work through the summer of 1956, the issue of civil rights took center stage in the national consciousness. After the March trial of the MIA, King appeared on the cover of Time magazine and the New York Times Magazine.
In June a federal court ruled segregated seating unconstitutional, and the case went on appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Meanwhile, King and the MIA leadership went to the Montgomery court to try to stave off an injunction against the carpools. They were in court when they were handed a notice from the Associated Press wire announcing the Supreme Court decision that ruled segregated seating on public buses unconstitutional. King addressed a euphoric crowd that night, and over the next week celebrities such as singer Mahalia Jackson and New York minister Gardner C. Taylor came to Montgomery to celebrate. On December 20, 1956, when the federal ruling took effect, an integrated group of Montgomery Bus Boycott supporters, including King, Abernathy, Fred Gray, and Glenn Smiley, rode the city buses.
The Montgomery Bus Boycott had implications that reached far beyond the desegregation of public buses. The protest propelled the Civil Rights Movement into national consciousness and Martin Luther King Jr. into the public eye. In the words of King: "We have gained a new sense of dignity and destiny. We have discovered a new and powerful weapon—nonviolent resistance."

I thought that you were innocent until proven guilty. I did not know that just because you are "ARRESTED" means that you have violated your probation. I am currently studying Criminal Justice and I want to know if my Criminal Justice book is wrong or outdated because my book gives me a total different perception of the arrest and conviction process. I mean the officials in Jena, LA have even led me to believe that my Business Law book is misleading as well. I was interested in even futhering my education eventually to Law School but I just don't know if I would be taught right. Justice vs "Just Us".

i've been following this story for awhile now and this the most riduculious and "in your face" display of racism that i have ever seen or heard of. Now i have been incarcerated myself unfortunately, and i know that two prison terms cannot be served concurrent, they must be served consecutively. But when a charge or charges have been dropped then the time served in prison is counted towards any charges that are upheld and include jail time. In this case you have a juvenile locked up in an adult facility, released with all charges dropped. Sent home on to serve house arrest (why i don't know?). Then later re-arrested for violating his probation simply because he got into a school yard fight. Now he has serve 18 months in a juvenile center? And lets not forget that thru all of this the "white" students haven't missed a day from school. If this isn't racism then it's a terrible injustice. With actions like this we are letting the world know that the days of the late great leaders such as Malcolm X, Martin Luther King jr., Rosa Parks, and many others who fought for eguality and justice Not just for blacks in america but for all minorities are not far removed. What happened in Jena, La. is like taking a time machine trip back to the 50's and 60's.

You knew this was going to be their tact. Did anyone else see last Sunday's edition of the Jena Times. They had this explanation from start to finish of what happened. The most ridiculous thing was that the noose hangers had no idea they used to hang blacks in the South, so it was just a harmless prank. The father of the white kid that pulled the gun is now the principal of Jena High. At the time this went on the father was some city official. So, what do you think? Who's going to go to jail when this case goes to trial.
Mykal Bell may have been on probation, but I do believe that the extinuating circumstances should be taken into account. Those being the tormet those kids must have gone through after the noose hangings. Being called this name and that name, which is not against the law, but when they got fed up and retaliated, they get prison time. This is pretty close to entrapment.
This is the fault of those racists adults in that town behaving like children. Since they couldn't find any laws that they broke, those noose hangers still should have been expelled from the school. They should have been made to make a public apology to the black community and 5000 hours of community service. It would take them about 18 months to do that many hours. Time served.
We fight on.

If we do that, we'll all starve, as unfortunately I think it will be a long time before they release him again. :(

Wal-Mart is the world’s largest retailer and America’s single largest employer. It was, therefore, a noteworthy event in June 2004 when a federal judge expanded a lawsuit filed by six California women to a class action. The case has now mushroomed to cover 1.6 million women Wal-Mart workers, employed nationwide since 1988, making it, by far, the largest class action in U.S. history. This article looks at two questions: How will liability be determined?
What can other employers learn?
In granting the case class action status, Judge Martin Jenkins indicated that Wal-Mart had for the most part failed to dispute the plaintiffs’ evidence that women were paid less than men in every region and in most job categories; that the salary gap widens over time even for employees hired into the same jobs; that women take longer to reach management positions; and that “the higher one looks in the organization, the lower the percentage of women.” Among other facts cited by the plaintiffs are that two-thirds of the company’s 1.2 million U.S. workers are women, but only one-third of all managers and only 14 percent of store managers are women. As a comparison, on average, 60 per cent of the managers in general merchandise stores are women. None of these facts in themselves prove that there was intentional, systematic bias, the judge declared, but they help to support “an inference that Wal-Mart engages in discriminatory practices.”
Wal-Mart’s defense is that the inequalities between its male and female employees resulted from factors other than unlawful discrimination. In such cases, employers typically argue that women were not interested in and/or not qualified for the higher paying jobs—defenses Wal-Mart has indicated it will use.

Not much of a case.
1. Being a doctor has always been a business influenced by money. This applies to black and white doctors. Doctors back in the day did not work for free they worked for money.
2. We complain about the white doctors being preferred when the fact is that not enough blacks are even in college, nevermind the medical profession.
3. Yes I would like to go on about why the medical association is so bad and then relate that to the ER doctor (Who most likely is not a part of the AMA as most doctors aren't) who treated this girl.
4. This physician is not in private practice, he is a tenured hospital employee which means two things. 1. He cannot be fired short of committing some kind of crime or ethics violation and 2. He has no practice to worry about losing.
Long story short you still have provided no GOOD reasons for the doctor to not tell the truth in this case. You have made a lot of assertions supported by nothing. I respect your opinion and honestly I am not naive as to believe that the doctor could not possibly have lied or more likely have simply ignored the childs claims but, I do not like the idea being voluntary duped by either side because I refuse to consider the totality of the evidence in this situation.
Alot of people tonight are surprised that Mychal Bell is in jail and I think that anybody who took a hard look at this boys life would have known that a.) The D.A. wasn't going to just let him walk away and B.) That boy has made it extra easy via his own actions for an unequal justice system to put him away. But, all people want to do is complain about all the wrongs that the D.A. has done. No one wants to touch on what this kid did to make the D.A. be able to take his life with such ease. I had the whole truth so I new it wasn't a matter of IF but of WHEN he would go back.
I don't want any suprises in Palmdale either. This is why I posed my question.

1963 is not 2007. For starters, alot of whites actually cared about what we were going through with the civil rights movement. Contrast that with today where blacks are veiwed as cry babies and deadbeats who want a handout. Just complaining and marching will not work. As you said in regard to the doctor this is about money.
Again we have $800 Billion dollars in buying power. That is more than the Gross Nation Product of many nations. And, we break our necks to give that money to all other races of business owners, and investors outside of our own. With that said do you really think that Wal-Mart executives give a damn about weather you give them their cut of this $800 Billion dollar pie on Thursday October 18th as oppose to Wednesday October 17th? As for not working in protest, what does that prove. I remember that "Day without and Immigrant" and let me tell you something. All of the whites I talked to here in L.A. basically said that it had never been easier to get around as it was that day and that they wished that everyday was a day without an immigrant. They also said that if the immigrants did refuse to work so be it. "More jobs for americans". Now what will taking off work accomplish hell, white folks know were not going anywhere?
I say change where the money goes and we will begin to change the power structure as white business begin trying to do what they don't do now which is cater to us politically. Business runs the government but, blacks must begin saving their wealth and also redistributing that wealth to black business which in turn can begin to gain political influence in this country. We are not going to see the day that blacks are respected in this country. But, are money and the need of coporate america to get their hands on it is already know and respected. Use this to our advantage and we may have something.

Now I am really appalled at what is happening in this case and fear for my children (whom are both young black men). So rather than let my anger takeover here I would rather put a question out here to my peers.
Can we come up with a petition against this Judge and circulate it via internet to the proper branches of law? Furthermore, distributing this to local as well as national newspapers and news networks? Can someone give me feedback on the pros and cons of this idea. Hoping to hear from you all soon.

"Basing whether someone is admitted on their skin color is discriminatory, which is really against the law."
see this makes my city look even worse than what it already is

My dearest friend---
First, I'm ssure you that you are not in my tax bracket--I'm certain! But it's good to know how you feel about the millions of poor black americans who need a place like walmart (sometimes we don't think).
Now to the issue--there is alot of evil in iscountry and specifically in this congress--ibut You are just simple! It's unbelievable the things that I'm hearing about hunger stricks until this child come home. If my child was this bad, I would want him locked up. This child has an opportunity to revitalize his image and we (you) are talkin some craziness--who is putting their head in the ground? Look at the state of our communities--an you think this is the fight for this generation! Go ahead!
Lastly, I love shopping at walmart--further, my primary support goes to black own businesses and helping them get started! Why, because it's the right thing for my community! Not because of some statement to White Folk!
Nice comeback. :D

Why are you saying Mychal is bad child and has had many chances. As far as we know Mychal did not commit the crime against justin barker. The conviction was over turned and he is suppose to receive a new fair trial. The probation violation has to do with this same charge there are no new charges. How can he violate his probation for a crime he has not been convicted of (and may have been wrongly arrested for).

No disrespect but if Rosa Park had priors would that have made it right for her to be arrested for not giving up her seat to a white man. If the media reported that she was a prostitute should the NAACP have just let her rot in jail and continue to ride the bus and support the racist bus system. Would that have made the bus system or that situation any less racist.

My dearest sister friend...you are right we probably do not share the same tax bracket. I am a business owner. What do you do?
I do not condone a hunger strike as an activity in which I would participate.
I do however support protest rallies and demonstrations as forms of expression to end oppression.
Dig yourself miss Sistah girl..you're back pedaling now saying you are in support of black businesses in your community. If this is so then you would want to take a day off from consumerism not as a show of rebellion toward the "man" or white folk in power but as a show of support for black enterprises in your community. In other words skip Wal-Mart for a day.and express your displeasure with the way things are. Perhaps Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving might be the day you choose to shop at the black establishments in your community and forgo shopping at your beloved local Wal-Mart....just for one day. ...the most important shopping day of the year.
Secondly, you are missing the point. In justice upon one is injustice to all.
What has happened to Bell could happen to yours.
Remember you are, for as long as you live, a black livin' in Amerikka!
As for shopping at Wal-Mart...there's no accounting for some people's taste-- or lack there of. lol! That's why the Walton family owns billions and you mindlessly simply contribute to their continued excessive wealth. lol!
I seriously doubt the majority of your discretionary income or the portion you spend on essential items goes primarily to black owned businesses.
Everything at Wal-Mart is not priced lower...sometimes we don't think.Regardless of where you shop you must be a smart economical shopper.
The point is Bell should be released because the entire episode is rid-danged-diculous. The district attorney and the district judge should be made to account for their actions and we the people are the only ones who can make this happen!

1. Tell that to the country doctors who accepted chickens and pigs in exchange for providing medical treatment...back in the day! lol!
2. Those few black who are in medical school, whether they attend a white med school or a black one are taught to get that money!
3. Maybe what you say is true...maybe it isn't.
4.If in fact as you say the doctor works for the hospital that's even more reason why he'd lie. Hospital employees lie all the time. The average person tells more lies, I'm talkin' real whoppers, on behalf his employer more often than for his own family or himself. The average person who works for someone else does this to maintain his status as an employed person.
Is that good enough for you? I thought this confrontational stuff wa splayed out...so 9/10 on the Internet and insocial forums. I guess I got caught up! lol!

David Duke Speaks out in Defense of Jena Louisiana
justin-barker-2.jpgJustin Barker, the forgotten White victim
David Duke Speaks out in Defense of Jena Louisiana
Much has been made of the fact that I won an overwhelming majority of votes in Jena Louisiana in my election bids for U.S. Senator and for Governor. Such is said to falsely label the people in Jena as “racists.” In fact, I won the overwhelming majority of the White vote in the entire state of Louisiana, not just in Jena. Since the people of Jena voted for me twice to speak for them as their Senator and as their Governor, I will ardently speak for them now.
The people of Jena, the people of Louisiana and I are not racist. We simply want justice to be done. We understand that White people in America have lost our basic civil rights. Whites are now deprived of human rights by racial discrimination in jobs, promotions, scholarships, college admissions and in many other programs. More importantly, Whites are increasingly victims of Black racial violence and hate crimes. In fact, a White person is 40 to 50 times more likely to be a victim of Black gang violence than a Black is likely to be a victim of White gang violence.
michaeel-bell.jpgMichael Bell, the Black hate crime attacker who has now become a hero with hardly a mention in the media of his previous four convictions for violence
Not only is there almost no media coverage of the Black violent hate crimes against Whites, but in high profile cases when Blacks are prosecuted for heinous crimes against innocent Whites, the White victims are ignored and the Black criminals are turned into “real victims” by the media.
Nothing more clearly illustrates this point than what has occurred over the past year in Jena, Louisiana and the orgy of hatred that Jena has suffered. today, September 20, the town has been invaded by thousands of thugs like Al Sharpton who seek to make violent Black hate criminals such as Michael Bell and the rest of the so-called “Jena Six” into heroes. Even worse the entire White population of the town is facing a media lynching by being labeled racists who are unjustly persecuting Black young men.
Michael Bell, who has been convicted of four previous violent crimes, (a fact scarcely revealed by the media), led a group of six Black students to attack and unmercifully beat a White Student at Jena High School in what can only be described as a vicious hate crime. Motivated by racial hatred, the six Blacks attacked one lone White student, Justin Barker. They stomped and kicked him to unconsciousness and continued to kick him and stomp him as he lay helpless. The attack could have easily have taken his life if others had not intervened. Only by the grace of God did he survive.
To show the insane bias of this whole case, just imagine if the facts were reversed.
If a gang of six Whites motivated by racial hatred and led by a White with four previous violent-crime convictions had attacked a lone Black student, kicking and stomping him into unconsciousness, would there any concern that the leader and the other White gang members could be charged with aggravated assault? Would not there be national demands to charge the White attackers with the most serious of federal civil rights violations and hate crimes? White leaders from all over the country, even the leaders of the local town of Jena, would not be defending the White attackers, they would be condemning the attacks and calling for the harshest of punishments allowed by the law.
As far as the Media are concerned, oh yes the supposedly unbiased media, they would be interviewing the Black victim on every TV talk show across the land, discussing his fear, his pain, his suffering. They would be interviewing his crying relatives and friends. They would not be voicing any fear that the White attackers would be treated too harshly. No, they would be demanding the harshest of penalties.
Federal officials from the President on down would be calling for additional serious charges of federal civil rights violations. But you see, in the America of 2007 Whites are no longer deemed to have any “civil rights.”
When a lone White kid is beaten savagely by a gang of six hate criminals, the media is only concerned about how the Black attackers are being treated too harshly. And if you are waiting for civil rights charges to be filed against the Black attackers who violated the civil rights of the boy they almost beat to death, don’t hold your breath.
The entire Jena scenario and the coverage of it by the media show once again that it is not the people of Jena who are racists. By voting for me and by demanding justice in this case, they have shown rightly that they believe in fairness to all and that White people are now the real victims of racism in America. Once again it is shown that we must have advocates for our rights and heritage just as any other group is permitted to do so.
May the District Attorney and the people of Jena stay strong and never give in to those who seek take away their rights of life and liberty as guaranteed by the United States Constitution.

First of all if memory serves Rosa Parks was arrested for not giving up her seat to a white man. Second, I believe that you are comparing apples to oranges. Rosa Parks was in the right morally and, the laws that she may have broken were related the Jim Crow laws that those who come to Rosa's defense eventually got overturned. Rosa was an activist. Contrast that with today and Mychal Bell.
Rosa Parks was not up on drug and battary charges, Mychal Bell is. Rosa Parks was not on probation, Mychal Bell was. Rosa Parks was non-violently fighting social injustice. Mychal Bell didn't like what another kid had to say and went up side his head. To date I have heard everybody from the NAACP to Al Sharpton and MLK III make the arguement that Mychal Bell should be held accountable for the fight but, should not have been tried as an adult for attempted murder . This tells me that even those defended Mychal know that he's guilty of at least his involvement in the fight. And, I didn't hear Al Sharpton deny that the drug charges were illegitamate.
I can't speak for the lady whom you were addressing but I believe that Mychal Bell is not a bad child so much as he was and still is a misled, undiciplined, and naive one. I believe that probation is a chance. Mychal Bell was not in jail on any of his priors and if the D.A. was that bad I wonder why not lock him up sooner. Anyway probation instead of jail was a chance for Mychal Bell to get through one more year in the racist town that set Mychal up for a division one football scholorship that was guareenteed upon completion of his senior year. Mychal Bell was on his way out and up and all he had to do was stay out of trouble for one school year, nine months and he couldn't even do that.
I don't care about who said what to Bell, I am disgusted with the fact that Mychal Bell knowing his status allowed words to change the course of his life. I see no Morality on the side of Mychal Bell. I see a young man who courted the justice system multiple times and eventually got caught up in it. And am sure that Bell was locked up again for a drug charge which is seperate from the fight. Yes this is unethical and cruel on the part of the Judge in this case and obiously this charge has arose from the dead just to put Mychal back behind bars but damn, even a system thats obviously after Bell now couldn't have trumped up this many false excuses to lock Bell up. Mychal Bell made it too easy.

Ineffective Assistance of Counsel: What Blane Williams should have known
July 2nd, 2007 at 12:47 am ("civil rights", Jena)
On Thursday, June 28, 2007, At the LaSalle Parish Courthouse in Jena, Louisiana, Mychal Bell was convicted of aggravated second degree assault and conspiracy to commit secondary degree aggravated assault. Mykal was convicted because jurors believed he had knocked a white student named Justin Barker unconscious with a single devastating blow to the head.
Mychal Bell was accused of participating in a conspiracy because his alleged victim was stomped by several other students as he lay on the ground. It was explained that the young black males who stomped Justin Barker were co-conspirators with Bell even if they had never agreed to a coordinated attack. According to law, because Bell’s single blow made the stomping possible, an informal conspiracy, or “combination” could be implied.
The alleged assault was “aggravated” because a dangerous weapon was used-namely tennis shoes. According to this reasoning, every fight
participant is guilty of aggravated assault unless he shows up naked. The law is designed to make it as easy as possible to put defendants away for as long as possible.
The Mychal Bell trial has attracted interest from around the globe-accounts have been published in South Africa, Russia, China, Australia and every flagship newspaper in America-with the curious exception of the New York Times. Correspondents invariably note that Jena has been the subject of public scrutiny since the morning in late August, 2006 when three nooses were found hanging from a tree in the high school square. The fact that Mychal Bell was tried by an all-white jury has fanned accusations of racism.
A gifted athlete and solid student with a promising future, Mychal Bell may be forty before he returns to the free world. Judge J.P. Mauffray will hand down his sentence on July 31st. Much has been said about the severity of the charges filed against the Jena 6, Mychal Bell and the co-conspirators. District Attorney Reed Walters originally accused the Jena 6 of attempted murder-charges sentences up to 100 years without parole. A worldwide outcry forced the prosecutor to back off a bit. Judge Mauffray’s sentence will
tell us how he views the proportionality issue.
But more basic questions abound. Is Mychal Bell guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? Did he receive a fair trial? And did Blane Williams, Mr. Bell’s court appointed attorney, give the trial a moment’s thought before entering the courtroom?
I have grown accustomed to all-white juries convicting poor black defendants, but this trial was something new. When “ineffective assistance of counsel” is covered in law school classrooms, this case may become the standard illustration. Throughout the three-day trial you could hear jaws hitting the floor as Blane Williams stumbled through his ill-conceived defense of his client. Hardened journalists were left scratching their heads. This was supposed to be an important trial. Why then, was Mychal Bell’s attorney so ill-prepared?
It’s pretty simple, actually. Court appointed attorneys aren’t paid well enough in most jurisdictions to seriously research the cases they handle. Take a client to trial and you are almost sure to lose money. Some attorneys are willing to take the occasional financial hit in the interest of justice; others are not. Blane Williams wanted Mychal Bell to take a plea offer. Mychal refused. Williams had no choice but to take the case to trial-but he was determined to put no more work into this case than the law allowed. And the law, my friends, allows defense attorneys to do very little if they are so inclined. You get the kind of justice you can afford to pay for.
Reflections in the wake of the Mychal Bell trial
Partisan witnesses
* The ten student witnesses who testified at Mychal Bell’s trial were all white. In fact, most of them were part of a distinct minority within
the high school’s white student population who attended all-white schools in the country surrounding Jena until High School. (More on this below)
* Justin Cooper was the only witness at trial to testify that Mychal Bell kicked Justin Barker as the victim lay unconscious on the ground.
Since Justin Cooper was one of the boys who admitted to hanging the nooses at Jena High School at the beginning of the school year, he can hardly be seen as an objective or credible witness. Defense Attorney Blane Williams was apparently unaware of Cooper’s connection to the noose incident.
* Jessica Hooter was one of four trial witnesses who identified Mychal as the person who threw the first punch at Justin Barker. Two days after the assault occurred, Jessica was unable to identify the initial attacker. But as she explained at trial, “After I thought about it more, I remembered more.” In his closing remarks, Blane Williams never mentioned that she had embellished her earlier testimony. Perhaps he forgot.
* The single male juror graduated from High School with Justin Barker’s father. The tendency to sympathize with an old school buddy whosekid got punched and kicked in a one-sided assault is understandable. It also makes objectivity impossible.
* Midway through the trial, assault victim Justin Barker and his family were seen by ten witnesses (myself included) sharing a convivial meal with several of the students who had testified against Mychal Bell. This suggests that a number of “memory-enhancing” conversations about the incident have taken place between early December and late June. Jessica Hooter likely “remembered” that the unidentified attacker was Mykal Bell because this quickly became the orthodox story in the social circle she move in.
Ms. Martin’s list
* At trial, special education teacher Kristy Martin listed off the names of the boys who surrounded Justin Barker as if they were clear in her memory. Although she was forced to admit that she never saw a single student touch Justin Barker, Martin’s ability to name names seemed very convincing. Martin is the only witness thus far who has provided a list of attackers longer than three names.
* In a written statement, given immediately after the incident, Coach Wayne Spence states that he was taking names of rowdy students in the gym during the lunch hour. “I had a list that Ms. Martin obtained from me,” he wrote. This suggests that Kristy Martin specifically asked Spence for the list of names the day of the fight. This explains why she is the only witness to remember more than two or three members of the Jena 6. Most eye witnesses can’t identify a single assailant by name. Most of the students who gave eyewitness statements after the December 4 altercation at the school make references to “a bunch of black kids”.
The witness no one called
* Coach Benjy Lewis gave two statements immediately after the school incident in which he clearly states that Justin Barker was facing him when Malcolm Shaw (not Mychal Bell) struck Barker from behind. “I saw Malcolm Shaw hit Justin Barker with his right fist to the right side of Justin’s head, right around the temple,” Lewis wrote. “Justin went down face first, knocked out . . .” Most witnesses agree that a single punch knocked Barker out cold. The only adult who witnessed the punch says Mychal Bell didn’t throw it.
* In a signed statement given immediately after the altercation at the school, student Jesse Beard stated that moments after the assault Coach Manning asked him where Malcolm Shaw was.
* It isn’t hard to see why the prosecution didn’t call Lewis to the stand (his testimony would have devastated the state’s case); but how do we explain why defense attorney Blane Williams didn’t call the coach to testify?
* Several people (myself included) noticed Mychal Bell repeatedly handing his attorney pieces of eyewitness testimony during the trial. This suggests that Williams entered the courtroom utterly unprepared for trial.
The green jacket theory
* Two female students testified that the person who knocked Justin Barker cold was wearing a green jacket. Mychal Bell’s statement, given immediately after the incident, suggests that he was initially cleared of responsibility because he was wearing a black jacket. At trial, the “green jacket” witnesses were convinced that Mychal Bell was not the attacker-they knew Mychal and the guy in the green jacket was someone else.
* The “green jacket” identification means that we have at least three mutually contradictory eyewitness accounts of who struck Justin Barker: Mychal Bell, Malcolm Shaw, or an unidentified student in a green jacket.
* Both “green jacket” witnesses insist that Justin Barker was knocked cold, not by a punch to the temple, but by having his head slammed into a concrete bench. Coach Benjy Lewis says that Justin Barker was knocked cold from a punch from behind. Witnesses who name Mychal Bell as the attacker describe a face-to-face confrontation followed by a blow to the head that knocked Justin Barker out. Defense attorney Blane Williams never reflected on the evidence long enough to identify these obvious contradictions.
If Lewis is right; Bell is innocent
* The fact that Justin Barker cannot remember who hit him argues in favor of Coach Lewis’s blow-from-behind account. It must also be remembered that Lewis was the only adult who directly witnessed the assault. He was also the only non-partisan eye witness. If Lewis is telling the truth, the witnesses who identify Mychal Bell as the initial attacker are either confused or, like Jessica Hooter, they are victims of a false sense of concreteness produced by the continual retelling the story in the company of partisan friends.
* Most of the prisoners recently exonerated on the basis of unassailable DNA evidence were wrongfully convicted by confident
eyewitnesses. Memory doesn’t work like a photograph; recollections change dramatically with time. We often see what we want to see.
* All this contradictory evidence makes it impossible to identifyJustin Barker’s assailant with any confidence.
* All those identifying Mychal Bell were highly partisan observers clearly identified with one side of a longstanding and unresolved feud
between the “country” white students who hung the nooses in a tree at the high school and the black male athletes who were particularly outraged by this hate crime (see more on this below).
* On balance, the most persuasive testimony by far comes from Coach Lewis-and neither the prosecution nor the defense called Lewis to testify at Mychal Bell’s trial.
A chaotic scene
* In signed statements, several black and white eyewitnesses referred to students running to and from the scene of the assault. Justin Barker was clearly struck on the face and then intentionally kicked while he lay on the ground. However, it is impossible to determine which of Justin Barker’s bruises and abrasions were the result of intentional assault and which may have been the unintentional result of a panic-induced stampede. All witnesses agree that the scene was utterly chaotic with students moving wildly in every direction. Defense attorney Blane Williams never raised this obvious question.
* Several of the Jena 6 defendants freely admit that they were close to the altercation. This isn’t surprising when we realize that the shout of “fight” at a high school always brings students running to the scene.
“With a stroke of my pen”
* In early September, the three white students responsible for hanging nooses in a tree in the school courtyard were punished with a few days of in-school suspension. The noose incident was dismissed as a childish prank. The following day, black students staged a spontaneous protest rally under the tree where the nooses had been discovered. Several black male athletes took the lead in this protest-the same students who were eventually accused of attacking Justin Barker.
* The decision to treat the noose incident as a childish prank sparked a brief firestorm of media attention in which Jena school officials were frequently accused of racism.
* In early September, District Attorney Reed Walters addressed an emergency school assembly called in response to the spontaneous student protest. With a dozen fully uniformed police officers in the auditorium, Walters warned protest organizers that with a stroke of his pen he could take their lives away. Walters has admitted under oath that he made this remark. His words were not aimed at the entire student body, nor at black students in general-he was speaking to the student athletes we now call the Jena 6. After the demonstration under the tree, Robert Bailey, Carwin Jones, Mychal Bell, Theodore Shaw, Jesse Beard and Bryant Ray Purvis became
notorious.
A descending spiral of violence
* Evidence suggests that some teachers and school administrators were empowered by Mr. Walters’ “stroke of my pen” remark. Defendants report that in the wake of the school assembly, several teachers became increasingly strict and adversarial in relation to the boys responsible for associating Jena High School with Jim Crow racism. It appears that some students responded to this change in attitude by withholding respect and acting out in ways that encouraged an even more authoritarian teacher response. Discipline referrals for the Jena 6 skyrocketed during the fall semester.
* In the period between Mr. Walter’s “stroke of my pen” threat in September and the assault on Justin Barker in early December, a series of physical altercations played out between the Jena 6 and the circle of boys who supported the hanging of the nooses. The white students had attended all-white schools in the countryside prior to coming to the integrated high school campus. They felt reassured by the segregated school courtyard and were intimidated by the suggestion that black students could sit wherever they wanted. Hence the nooses.
* The laughably light discipline handed down for this “childish prank” was perceived, correctly, as a triumph for students wishing to preserve a segregated school square.
A fire, a fight, and a firearm
* In signed statements, several white and black students mentioned a series of verbal altercations during the lunch hour preceding the attack on Justin Barker. The trash-talking was directly related to a fight at the Fair Barn three days earlier. On that occasion, Robert Bailey and a few of his friends were invited to an all-white student party by some of their white friends. When Robert entered the building he was punched in the face by a 22 year-old white male. In seconds, Robert was assaulted with beer bottles, punches and kicks in a virtual mirror image of the altercation at the high school three days later. The only differences were that the identify of the instigator in the Fair Barn incident was undisputed and that Robert remained conscious after the initial blow and was thus able to minimize the impact of the attack.
* The following morning, Robert Bailey and two of the friends who had come to his aid during the Fair Barn assault were leaving a local
convenience store when they encountered one of the country white males who had jumped Robert the night before. Fearing retaliation, the boy retreated to his truck and pulled out a pump-action, pistol-grip shotgun that looks like something the Terminator might have fancied. When Robert and his friends wrestled the weapon away from their would-be assailant they were charged with assault and theft. Once again, Jena’s New Jim Crow regime was reinforced.
* It is not unusual for residents of rural LaSalle Parish to drive around with firearms in their trucks. On May 10, 2007, Justin Barker was
arrested for bringing a rifle to school in his vehicle. A thorough search probably would have turned up several more illegal firearms in the school parking lot.
* The violent assault at the Fair Barn, the convenience store incident, and the assault at the school followed in the wake of a traumatic
school fire in late Novermber. Everyone associated with the school was in a state of shock akin to post traumatic stress syndrome. Concerned by the wave of violence, several teachers asked administrators not to reopen the school the Monday morning of the assault.
Running his mouth
* Student statements suggest that the student who attacked Justin Barker was responding to taunts that Robert Bailey “had his butt kicked” at the Fair Barn. In the course of this verbal jousting, several students report that Justin Barker “got up in Mychal’s face” and gave Mychal the finger. Tony Knapp, one of three boys who admitted to hanging nooses earlier in the school year, was also involved in this lunch hour altercation. At trial, District Attorney Reed Walters created the misleading impression that Barker was attacked by black thugs looking for a random white victim. He knew better.
* Several eyewitnesses recall that the initial punch was preceded by the shouted words, “This will teach you to run your mother f***ing mouth.” This statement, repeated by too many witnesses to be seriously doubted, makes no sense apart from the trash talking described in student statements.
The sins of the fathers
* This background information demonstrates that the black male students who attacked Justin Barker were bound to a steadily escalating chain of violence and counter-violence.
* This spiral of action and reaction was initiated by the September decision of school administrators to treat the noose incident as a childish prank. When Reed Walters threatened the Jena 6 with life imprisonment if they didn’t relinquish their constitutional right to denounce injustice, the boys were left with no legitimate avenue of protest. In the end, immature white and black males were left to their own devices. The consequences were as predictable as they were tragic.
* The ultimate responsibility for the violence at Jena High School lies at the feet of public officials who refused to acknowledge a hate crime
for what it was. The sins of the fathers are now being visited upon the children.

On a side note I welcome all the pressure being brought to bare on this Judge and D.A. as possible. At least this way they won't try to sneak Mychal back into adult court. I am hard on the boy because I feel that we could've and should've done better considering where he was in his life and the oppertunities with which he was presented.

Once again, we are assuming that Mychal hit this student. What happened to the second trial? I read in a newspaper that the coach at Jena High School said that the person who hit this white student was wearing a green jacket. He also stated that Mychal Bell was not wearing [the] green jacket; and that he had not been called to testify in the first trial. When asked why he had not been called to testify, his response was, "I don't know". The more I hear about Mychal Bell story, the more it reminds me of the story of "Antwan Fisher". Antwan Fisher is a real person. Get his story and read it. Let's remember that some of our youngster need Anger Management Therapy; and some of our old folks need it too. But, do we always have to lock them up?
Furthermore, I am not advocating fighting as a remedy for solving disputes; but I'm so glad that we did not get locked up for having a good ol' fight when I was an adolescent. My goodness, I fought all of the time. Maybe it was the neighborhood where I grew up. I don't know. I fought boys or girls; it didn't make any difference. We didn't get arrested! As a matter of fact, years later, I became a classroom teacher with a MA Degree.
Lastly, parents, teachers, pastors, and friends know when youngsters have anger management problems, drug problems, abuse problems and academic problems; and most often we do nothing about it to help them. We probably have someone in our own families who might be experiencing some of these issues. We've got to stop talking about others and do something about our own family's issues. We are so quick to judge others.
For those of us who know how to pray, it's time. For those of us who don't know how to pray, it's time to learn.

It seems that you have missed my point. I know Rosa was arrested for not giving up her seat. I was not suggesting that Rosa had priors I was asking if she had priors would that have changed the racist intent of the situation and made the bus boycott any less important. Rosa became an activist once she stood up in a specific situation. After she had decided she had had enough and decided not to give up her seat others felt her pain and rallied around her to bring about change. I would say Mychal's is in a similar position he helped to organize a peacful sit in under what was considered a white tree and his punishment or consequence was being caught up and implicated in this situation. People who feel his and his families pain have rallied around to help bring about change.

It seems that mychal did not receive a fair trial. As you stated I have heard Sharpton and other state that IF Mychal is guilty he deserves a fair punishment. But that fair punishment cannot be determined until he first receives a fair trial.
Also I am not sure if it was a drug charge that he was on probation for I have seen other news sites report that he was on probation for assault and destruction of property. We do not know the details behind either situation. It is interesting how Mychals juvenile record (which I thought were kept private) is discussed with the media, but the juvenile record and prior behavior of Justin Barker, The boys who hung the noose, the boys who beat up the black kids, the person who pulled the gun and others who also had prior records and patterns of poor behavior are not discussed.
You asked why did the DA not give harsher sentences earlier perhaps because football is important to the small town of Jena and Mychal was the star they did just enough so he could be in the system but still continue to play, he was about to go on to college he was no longer of use to them and he had the potential to transcend and archive and make more money than most of them ever will. This is the first year my daughter's HS has security. She said the real reason is because of racial problems. This alarmed me because I wasn't aware of any serious racial problems. Our community is about 10% Black and this ratio is shown in the schools as well.
She said a significant number of students have transferred from Mississippi. They are constantly provoking the black students. She said the Teachers are on it and handling it well. The teachers KNOW the local black kids. They know which local black kids as well as which local white kids are troublemakers. The outsiders (Mississippi kids) tried to get all the black kids in trouble which immediately raised the flags of the staff.
Basically, the security guards were hired to keep control of the outside agitators. She said the black kids feel safe and protected as they know the staff is aware of the problem. This is in a school where the staff is predominately white. So far only one black teacher has returned since Katrina.
You are 100% correct. The problems are not black and white. This is a community problem. It takes the involvement of the community, teachers, parents, law enforcement, friends, pastors to solve the problems of their communities. This is what was lacking in Jena.

Come on. Even Allen Iverson will tell you in hindsight (And i've seen him do this) that he was a hothead who brought alot of the unfair police and media scrutiny on himself. I never said that what the justice system and the media do to Mychal Bell was fair, I am simply saying that these men like Iverson and that young man (Mychal) had Choices. Mychal's choices landed him in this situation in my opinion. My brother is currently on parole for armed robbery. Parole as with probation is given instead of jail but can be revolked if you are picked up for anything that is a violation of that parole conviction or not. What this means to my brother is this. If he doesn't want to catch a drug charge (Like Mychal bell did) that would violate his parole he needs to avoid drugs like the plague. That means clean piss tests and no association period with anyone who uses or may be in possession of any drug. No drugs period. Why? because if he is caught with, around, or in earshot of someone with drugs he goes to prison. It's not a joke. So even if Mychal Bell watched this fight or was near this kid I say he is at least stupid if not guilty. Because if I am Mychal Bell and I am on my way to college and then to the stars and all of these white folk are out to get me as you suggest then I am running away from fights. Not standing near the fight, not in the fight, not in the area. I'm talking airtight alibi you feel. Why, because my last road block is my probation and if I violate, I risk losing everything.
Al Sharpton went on the Micheal Baisden Show and said that we Mychal had violated his probation on a drug charge that was not used against him prior to the day the judge decided to lock him up. This is in addition to the account given by Mychal Bells father one Mr. Johnny come lately along with various television and newspaper reports. But, yes he was on probation for battery.
Listen I have read all of these news accounts and board messages and alot of other reports on this case and at the end of the day I believe that their are alot of half truths being told on all sides. I really don't believe or believe in anybody at this point. I feel that these prosecutors in Jena are retaliating against Mychal Bell for the events of recent instead of admitting that they went to far with attempted murder charges. Which is the definition of INJUSTICE. And, on the other side I am happy that Mychal Bell is no longer on the hook for attempted murder and I hope that this kid gets his life his life straight because he has years to live. But Mychal was already on probation for battery when this fight (also battery) and if it quacks, walks, and talks like a duck it is a duck.

Here is my question. Do you believe that Mychal Bell is an innocent who is being persecuted solely based on his race? And, do you believe that Mychal Bell at least in part brought some of this on himself?
Based on my personal experiences I would say yes I believe he did not receive a fair trial and was being prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law because of race. My husband was arrested and put in jail, it took 5 days in jail and 12,000 in lawyer and bail fees for him to get out, he was pulled over on a DWB (driving while black) he was pulled on the highway for supposedly not signaling when he changed lanes, the cop violated his rights and searched his vehicle with out probable cause. The cop found allergy pills on him that they assumed were ecstasy, they charged him not only with possession of ecstasy but they also added intent to sell which drove his bond up. When the case was thrown out because the pills proved to be allergy pills just as my husband had told them we did not receive an apology,we were not reimbursed the money time and emotional energy that went into this false arrest. I have sooo many similar stories and situations that have happened to me or family members.
Based on what I have experienced I definitely believe it was based on race. I do not think the students lied to frame him on purpose, but I believe because he is black they did not work hard to present all the evidence they were careless in making sure he received a fair trial one that considered all the evidence not just the incriminating info.
Do I believe he brought it on his self. That is hard to answer do I believe my husband brought the above situation on himself well maybe if he had a short cut instead of corn rows, or if he had on a collard shirt ,Khakis and dress shoes instead of a white tee jeans and Timberlands this would not have happened. I am not sure if you consider that as bringing it on himself, but I can not agree with that.
Now answer this question for me based on the site I provided do you believe Mychal received a fair trial where all pertinent information was considered and thus has deserved what has happened.
Regardless of a prior record I believe all people should recieve a fair trial

I feel what you are saying, but we will have to agree to disagee. Because I do not agree in that situation where in high school Allen Iverson left the scene as soon as a fight first broke out,I do not believe he made a poor choice or brought it on him self or desrved to be put in jail and have his future altered because of something he did not do. The same with Mychal if he is innocent and did not engage in the fight I do not think he deserved this punishment. Do I think he practiced poor judgment perhaps, but innocent is innocent regardless of a prior record.
I agree with your point about choices but in both of these case (mychal and the high school incident with Iverson)as teenagers, I think they made the correct choice Mychal chose not engage in the fight that was going on around him
Iverson chose to leave the scene as soon as the fight started
I agree with you that there are so many conflicting information it is hard to know who are what to believe. I just wany Mychal to recieve a fair trial where all information is considered.

I understand how you feel.I never said that the system was fair. I myself was beaten by the California Highway Patrol back in 06' because the officer felt "Threatend". Why? Because the officer didn't like my attitude after he pulled me out of my car. The officer than pulled his firearm on my brother when he got out to check on me which is what the officer told all of us to do in the first place. The officer pepper sprayed and beat me when my back was turned to him. Sprying me in my ear and then my eyes and then hitting me from behind with the stick. Then the officer charged me with obstruction which was the bogus charge that made for probable cause to search my vehicle. To top it all off the officers recorder which would have proven the officers misconduct mysteriously stopped recording just prior to my being stopped. The charge was thrown out before it could go to trial. It cost me money, time and I was on crutches for two weeks following the incident. And because I travel alot and the incident took place hours from my home I had to fly back and fourth to resolve the matter. Like your husband no money, nor apology was received. And the investigation that was eventually ordered went nowhere. No justice was done. If their should have been a march hell, it should have been for me and your husband because both cases sound like racial profiling which is supposedly illegal in my state.
Here's what I believe. Driving in your car is not illegal and so if someone decides to pull you over and arrest you based on race, or appearence or anything outside of a broken law or probable cause then of course you did not bring that on yourself. That is racial profiling and that is wrong. Now if your husband had a suspended or revoked license and was pulled over for an incorrect lane change and was pulled out of his car because he couldn't provide proof of a license or registration or insurance than I have to say with all do respect to him that is probable cause and your pobably asking for it. I would drive wit a three piece suit and a buzz cut at all times til I got my L's back. Now would they pull craker Jack whiteman out of the car for the same thing? No, but we all know that dude in the corn rows is getting searched, the car is getting searched the whole nine. So if you forgot to use that turn signal and your papers aren't straight (which i do all the time) it's kinda like a bear stepping on the trap. All you can do is talk real proper, put on a hat on to cover the braids and prey that the hunter mistakes the bear for a duck and lets you go:D. If this was not the case and a bad lane change was all, then I don't see why you wouldn't have a good case for a lawsuit. My crime was speeding. I could have cruise controlled at 70 and avoided the whole mess. Funny because I was never charged with speeding :D
Now answer this question for me based on the site I provided do you believe Mychal received a fair trial where all pertinent information was considered and thus has deserved what has happened.
Based on what I read in the article you cited i've been convinced that the defense lawyer is an idiot. But not of much else. Here's the reason. A responsible journalist provides sources of information. Sources make the difference bettween hear say or opinion and journalism. Because I see no cited sources and because I couldn't even find information on the writer I can't really take his information at face value. No more than you can take my information as fact in this case with my speaking from california. But, I didn't need to believe the article though to know that Mychal Bell was not receiving fair treatment. Being charged with attempted murder was all the evidence I needed for me to come to this conclusion.
Regardless of a prior record I believe all people should recieve a fair trial
Good Morning,
I read the articles and watched the video clips on the Jena 6. I also signed the petition, and my heart goes out to the families of the Jena 6. I know all to well about injustice, but my children weren't as lucky as the Jena6 young men. No one had an interest in my two children. An unfortunately my son, Damon can't clear his name because he was murdered at the hands of the State of Maryland not by the State of MD, but in there control with correctional officers help. And my daughter is still in jail for a crime she did not committe, and the State of MD knew she wasn't guilty. The Judge on the case said she wasn't guilty, but that didn't stop them. Come the 24th November 2007 , it will be 18 years.
Please go to my website...www.freechristiananddamon.com... and read not only the facts, but the documents that support the facts.
Thank You

Yeah. This appearence was not smart considering that both of these men have court battles ahead of them. This just goes to prove my point that these guys are misguided and undiciplined. They should be focused on school and preparing for trial doing whatever they can do to stay out of the negative spotlight. Anything that these boys say and do will be used against them in a court of law.

They look like they represent the hip hop culture. Even though we do not like it, it's their culture. The climate is not right for this type of exposure imo.
I pray they obey the law because they are bringing more attention to themselves. I would not have allowed my son to attend.

Come on y'all, you know we got some bad kids runnin around out there in these schools, they lie to their parents, and everything is the schools fault. Tyler Perry Winning Through Box Office Slump
Posted By:Julia Boorstin
The domestic box office has been disappointing the past two weekends, especially compared to last year's boffo openings of "The Grudge 2" and "The Departed." But actor/director Tyler Perry came out smiling, his "Why Did I Get Married" comedy from Lions Gate Lions Gate Entertainment CorpLGF
bringing in $21.5 million on what must have been a very small production budget.
Just like Tyler Perry's "Madea" franchise, this movie far exceeded expectations--estimates for its opening box office were down around $7 million. Perry's films are relatively inexpensive to produce, and incredibly easy for Lions Gate to market--they're focused on the under-served urban market, so all it takes is well-placed billboards and TV ads in certain markets.
This is MUCH less expensive than those films looking for 'all four quadrants' of suburbia, i.e. old, young, male, and female. This strategy has helped make Perry a next-generation media mogul (see this Fortune article by a former colleague of mine), and it's only helped Lions Gate. The company's stock has sunk quite a bit over the summer, but is starting to rebound this fall.
And how bad a disappointment was the rest of the box office? I say, not so terrible. The corresponding weekend last year was bolstered by a horror movie, "The Grudge 2," which gets a whole different kind of audience than the films in theaters this weekend. And George Clooney's "Michael Clayton" from Warner Bros. Time Warner IncTWX
"We Own the Night" (with Joaquin Phoenix) are the kind of potential Oscar fodder that depend on slow and steady growth. Unlike a horror movie or the blockbusters of the summer, these are the films that depend much more on how they hold up. As to the question of whether Clooney has lost his star power, look at his recent films.
Sure, the Oceans franchise is huge, largely thanks to him and Brad Pitt's glittering stars. But "Syriana" grossed only $50 million domestic and his artsy war drama, the Good German brought in a measly $6 million worldwide. It was an art film, but it sure shows that while Clooney might score with a "Good Night and Good Luck," as early as "Syriana" in 2005 Clooney showed wasn't bringing in $20 million opening weekends.
And I think that Clayton will hold up fairly well, though it's projected to be overtaken by "We Own the Night" next weekend. And once "American Gangster" with Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington opens in early November, both those movies will likely fall by the wayside. But all the buzz about Ridley's Scott "Gangster" is likely to get the box office back on track.

I have an honest question for which I know you'll give an honest answer. First of all your right it's been 400 years and our history as blacks in America speaks for itself. With this said I ask you this.
How fair do you think this country as a whole will ever be toward us as black people? And, do you think that it is possible that we have gotten as far as we're going to get as far as forcing change in the government? Is it time for us to limit our damages and look for some kind of independent sovereignty?

I agree with you 100% we need to limit our damages, and, while, also, continually, working on alternative solutions such as independent sovereignty. One is pointless without the other.
I agree with what you said in an earlier post about hitting them in the pocket, that is the only thing they understand. If we are going to do it for only one day it should be Black Friday the day after Thanksgiving.
If longer the whole Xmas holiday. We should use that time and money as a time to manage and save our money on the road to becoming self sefficiant like we were in the 1920's before they hung us and burned us out of our homes and businesses.

Mr. Fillmoredollar--I would like to appeal to you about some of my post asking this forum--is this the cause we want to represent as a movement. I know that I've been critical at times but, I have only tried to get the family to be careful, because it's painfully to be fighting the good fight and the ones you 're fighting for don't understand or appreciate your efforts.
Jena 6 became the movement--versus the injustice and racism that controls every part of this nation's government! Like I sayed before...there is evil in this country and specifically in this congress, therefore when we address our concerns we must have a focus and a determination that the world can stand behind! What really is sad, is how 8 correctional personnel can be aquitted in the teens death at boat camp--where is the focus, why do we miss our shinning opportunity to fight injustice--in this case it's not about racism, it's about a misguide youth who was abused by a system designed to reform. None the less, we took our eyes off the ball
My specific question is Why do we (black community) criticize other blacks who opposed making Jena 6 a national front!

Extra Credit due: 10-22-07
Extra Credit: WRITE YOUR APPEAL OUT OF JAIL
Due: 10-22-07 to the Digital Dropbox
Essentially, your job is to write your ticket out of jail. Assume you are incarcerated at Central Penitentiary and that you are acting as a "jailhouse lawyer". Listed below are the facts in your case that led to your current incarceration. You are to write a two (2) page habeas corpus writ. Refer to your book or lecture notes on what constitutes a good habeas corpus writ. In it, you will focus on someway to convince the federal judiciary that your state incarceration is ungrounded because of irregularities if not illegalities in the way your case was handled at the local level. Make your best case by remaining focused on what you think is the most salient issue, and don't just use a "shotgun" pattern in hopes that something will hit. Highest grades go to the ones that are most likely to be successful to "get you out of prison".
Here's some theoretical material about what makes a good habeas corpus writ:
· The convicted offender must claim that their defense counsel was incompetent. It's not enough to say that their attorney made tactical errors or didn't take the time to raise an objection at trial. In habeas corpus claims, the offender must come up with some new way of describing how their counsel was incompetent or ineffective, otherwise the claim is regarded as frivolous (abuse of writ rule).
· The convicted offender must show that the failure to raise any objection, or the fact of being represented by ineffective counsel substantially prejudiced their case, either by some piece of evidence weighing too heavily on the judge or jury or by a prejudiced atmosphere covering the whole trial (cause and prejudice rule).
· The convicted offender must demonstrate that they are victims of a manifest injustice or miscarriage of justice, not just that they are claiming their innocence. They are questioning the fact that they are legally guilty via some mention of procedural irregularities, but they are not normally allowed to refer to the reasonable doubt standard. (manifest injustice rule).
The facts in your case:
Your name is ______________, and you are a 24-year old ___________ from the town of Raleigh, NC. You were arrested by an East Carolina Drug Task Force, consisting of six deputies, four municipal police officers, and one SBI agent in a "controlled buy" (reverse sting) operation that took place on Wednesday night at 11:59 PM on October 15, 2007. You were charged with 1 count of possession, 1 count of possession with intent to deliver, and 1 count of trafficking. The drug you possessed (actually were stupid enough to purchase from the undercover agents) was about 15 grams of marijuana. You were introduced to the agents via one of your friends, Joey Banana, who lives in Rocky Mount. You were "busted" at the time of purchase, and picked up the extra charges because they had you staked out with electronic listening devices (after Joey turned you in as a prospect to them) indicating that you intended to make the purchase to see how good the stuff was before buying more to sell to your friends.
The wait for your trial in Nash County was terrible. The jail over in Nashville wasn't all that great, and the other inmates picked on you (you're only 5'6" and weigh 135 with long hair and blue eyes). You were defended by Ashton Edgecroft, a public defender in Nash County, who didn't really sympathize with you very much (it seemed he didn't care for drug cases). He tried to convince you to waive your right to a jury trial and accept a plea bargain for 1 year in Central Pen on all the charges. You held out for a jury trial, and surprisingly, it didn't take long to put one together. An all-white jury of Nash county residents convicted you to 2 years on all the charges, based on what seemed like strong testimony against you by the undercover agents (who blew their cover to testify against you) and the high-quality recordings they had of your conversations, bragging about how you were beating the system. While the state also presented scientific evidence verifying that the substances you purchased were marijuana, you were never able to verify this yourself via your own scientific testing. Nor were you able to call any character witnesses on your behalf since you were told this would come up in your pre-sentence investigation report. However, you had never been in trouble with the law before. The only person you were able to get a hold of during your pretrial detention was a local criminal justice professor at Nash Community College, and during a couple of phone calls you had with him from the county jail, he implied that you were being "railroaded". The jury only took 5 minutes to return an unanimous verdict of guilty.
Good luck in writing your appeal. Assume you are given no supplies or any other assistance by the employees of Central Penitentiary.

I agree there is no more time to figure out who did what, why, and how. We must work on solutions long term solutions.
Just as filmoredollar pointed out they will never treat us equally we may have made all the strides we can in this system. We must create alternate solutions that put us in control of our destiny.

My specific question is Why do we (black community) criticize other blacks who opposed making Jena 6 a national front!
Well speaking from the prospective of a man who has been labeled an uncle tom amoung other things for my veiws on the Jena Six (who keep proving my points by the way) I will take a shot at answering your question.
I think that there are a few reasons for what critics of this Jena six deal with.
First I think that there are those who believe that this Jena Six deal is the cause and to these people outward disapproval on any level is unacceptable. When it comes down to it what you and I have been saying may be true but -DAMN- Do you have to say it in from of white folk. Some would prefer that we keep our opinions to ourselves if of course those opinions difer from their own. Others simply are acting on emotion and want to believe what they want to believe and they don't like the fact that you have based your veiw on the totality of the evidence as you see it. These are the people who will put you down or call me an Uncle tom without actually challenging or presenting the facts. A minority of people are just narrow minded or racist or ignorant or all of the above. You and I are traitors to the race let them tell it.
I like to debate. I state my veiw in hopes that those around me will either challenge them or support them based on facts and not just prejudice and emotion. Some people however do not want to be challenged and so people like you and I threaten them. So putting us down is a must. Those that have their facts straight simply present those facts to support their position whatever that position may be.
The Majority will always pile unto the minority. I believe that we are in the minority here with this Jena Six deal lol. Doesn't mean we are right or that were harming blacks and/or "the Movement", just means we get to have more interesting conversations. :D

Lets say that everything you are stating is correct just for the sake of foregoing all of our sideline quarterbacking.
Here is my question. Do you believe that Mychal Bell is an innocent who is being persecuted solely based on his race? And, do you believe that Mychal Bell at least in part brought some of this on himself?
No ! I for one do not believe he "at least in part rought some of this on himself".
According to Alan Bean of Friends of Justice the vast majorioty of eyeeeeeeewitnesses either didn't see who hit Barker or they identify some other person as the assailant. There's even a coach who claims to have seen the attack an this person insists Bell was not the student who struck Just in Barker.
It's not about guilt or innocence. It's about the fact the DA and the school superintendent did not make the right call at the start of this terrible situation. The hanging of nooses is indeed a hate crime. HAd they appropriately handled that matter we would not be having this discussion today.

Oops! Sorry was I in a time warp? Ah..you are obviously a proponent of the "If it happened before I was born I have no knowledge nor am I interested" school of thought.
I do not think any more whites cared then than those who care today.
No you said it's about money for the doctor. I said the doctor would lie.
Simpleminded Americans do not understand world economy. It's easier to blame Mexicans immigrants for loss of jobs than to put the blame on the government's decision to promote NAFTA.
Some blacks will be smart about money knowing it's not an asset if it's on your ass. Other people will shop and bling at Wal-Mart or the high fashion stores despite not having a car or living in their mother's basement.
MAke up your mind..you say change where the money goes, but then you say a moratorium on consumerism won't work. Which is it homes? lol!

SQ357 Read Before The Next Walmart Sale
BEFORE YOU TRADE A SALE AT WALMART SLAVE MARKET FOR AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN CHILD’S LIFE OR (HISPANCS, ASIAN, AFRICAN, OR PEOPLE OF DARKER DESCENT) OR (YOUR CHILDREN, NEICES OR NEPHEWS) OR YOUR (GRANDCHILDREN) LIFE, LEARN TO BE AN EDUCATED CITIZEN OR CONSUMER. ONLY VISA OR EDUCATED CARD HOLDERS ARE ACCEPTED. NOT UNKNOWLEDGEABLE CARDSHOLDERS. WHAT IS CHEAP IS NOT ALWAYS KIND AND CIVILIZED.
READ BELOW:

Ever hear of black wallstreet. Below is a link to an article about some of the all black settlements that arose after the civil war. I found the article interesting.

Self reliance has been a pilar of our survival since our ancestors arrived hear on slave ships. Remember white slave masters did not feed, or shelter the slaves. Nor did they grow the food that the slave masters would take leavingthe slaves with scraps.
Yes I am right there with you on this one. Thank you for the NY times article. Here is a website that discusses that riot and others that occured during the black holocaust.

This really changed how I view things, that is why Black history must be taught in school either we start our own school like we did in the 20's are force it to be included in the current cirriculum. These stories will help instill a sense of pride in our young people, I know it would have done it for me. It is important for all children black white and other to be educated about all of our accomplishments and all that was done to destroy those accomplishments. Which has a direct effect on our situation today, specifically why we do not a have generational wealth or a blueprint or examples on how to become self sufficiant.

I agree with some of your points but, the reason I get upset when people speak against the Jena six is because it is about much much more than the Jena six. It is about us FINALLY getting together to stand together and say Enough is Enough! A movement has begun no matter what you think about the specifics of the Jena six case you must agree an injustice was done, and injustices continue to be done to our people on a daily basis. We need to be SOLUTION focused. That is all we need to be focused on what can we DO . Not who did what, why and how.
If you do not agree with merits of of the Jena six cases pick another cause in the movement to champion such as the murder of the young boy in boot camp, or the school shooting that received minimal coverage, or the CIA flooding our communities with drugs and guns, or getting black history intergrated into the public school cirriculum, or gang violance, teenage pregnancy, or Revamping BET or removing it from the air. There are so many causes to take up that we do not have time to pick apart the merits of the Jena six case.
This is a time of ACTION. SQ357 I challange you to Please move from being a naysayer of the Jena six case to a Champion of a cause you do believe in.
We have been quiet, inactive and passive for too long. We do not have time for negativity, all it does is drain energy and resources. I am sure we all agree that there are problems in our community we do not all have to agree on the specifics. We all agree we need solutions so lets start there and put the negativity aside and start working toward solutions.
I am just happy our people are finally AWAKE.

I'm old enough to remember having black teachers before integregation. Blacks in our neighborhood were graduating high school and college. During segregation unlike the south they sent our black teachers to white neighborhoods and sent the white teachers to our neighborhoods. All of a sudden folks started to fail. In addition, our teachers and parents usually belonged to the same church. You could not get away with anything. All the businesses laundermat, accounting firms, shoe repair, fish market, barber ship beauty shop all black owned carefully watched as we walked home from school. Now its just trash, bums, poverty, and Hindu's. How did it happen? I have a theory I think it was too many individuals in our neighborhood graduating college. For ever vacant lot they built low income housing. Home ownership was a big step from living in the projects, however, they did not change their lifestyle some blacks folk were proud and some just did not care, so if you had money you moved out. Its almost just like black wall street a memory. Furthermore, if the man is so worried about terrorist why is there foreign owned gas stations not even a mile apart? In a 360 degree radius.

Why were two young men from the Jena 6 at the BET Hip Hop Awards? This is just not a good look for the cause. I know that these young men have gone through a lot, but they could have found another platform for them to be on.

This is another reason why we need to crack down on BET. We all knew this but it is blatant that they do not have our best interest at heart. Why in the hell would they invite those boys to the BET awards as if they are a new rap group. This is yet another situation where BET is making a fool and a mockery of our people. I do not blame the boys for wanting to go b/c at that age I am sure I would have wanted to go. Where were the parents to say I do not think that is a good idea, why would BET invite them in the first place and why did they not dress them better. They were given stylist to put them in that outfit why not dress it up a bit.
They allowed them to give out an award under the guise of bring the Jena six situation to light. Would it not have been better to have them on a more serious show or to have a town hall about it. Why would they have them on a HIP HOP Awards show when the hip hop community and BET did not seem to give a damn about them when it was time to march raise money and show them support.
These is really making it clear that BET either needs to be shut down or revamped
We really need to Wake up, where do we go from here?

First of all am not your homes. You know there was a reason that I stopped addressing you. See disagreement is fine Henry, but at the end of the day I’ve found that you are only capable of hurling insults and making silly remarks. You make statements of opinion and present them as indisputable fact often citing no credible sources, presenting no evidence, and then you have the audacity to put down anybody who does not buy into your flimsy theories. Let me show you how you sound to me.
Henry: Doctors are liars
Filmore: why would the doctor lie?
Henry: The AMA (American Medical Association) are a bunch of criminals, and the doctor could lose his practice
Filmore: OK Henry but 1. Most doctors do not belong to the AMA and 2. This particular doctor is not in private practice he is a tenured ER physician working at a county run hospital which means short of mal practice or something else that is either illegal or unethical this doctor cannot be fired. So he probably doesn’t have that kind of pressure to worry about. Incidentally what makes the AMA so bad in your view?
Henry: Well, uhhhh, your stupid…..and a poo poo head yeah…annnd am smarter than you.
I don’t mind your disagreeing with me and I can’t make you stop acting like a child because your view differs from mine but I believe that we can learn a lot more from each other if we have a productive conversation.
MAke up your mind..you say change where the money goes, but then you say a moratorium on consumerism won't work. Which is it homes? lol!
I have made something like 200 posts here Henry. I have consistently said in these posts (including in one just below the post to which you are responding) that I would support a long-term boycott coupled with an emphasis on saving our accumulated wealth and redistributing that wealth among black owned business in an effort to prop them up. Henry these posts are not hard to find. But of course you couldn’t make you little snide remark had you actually bothered to read them could you. I have a three year old son. Now, if my son walks up to me at 12pm and says daddy can I have ice cream and I say no, am not giving you ice cream because you won’t put your toys away and then my son comes back at 3pm and says daddy I want ice cream and I say sure son although the toys are still scattered all over the floor than what have I just proven, nothing. What have I taught my son, nothing. And, what did I dislike that got changed, nothing. Now corporate America wants my dime. If I choose not to shop on Monday in protest and then I shop on Wednesday it proves nothing to corporate America except that when blacks get mad they will have to wait a day for us to give them their money. One day will not make a difference and besides it’s already been done. The Montgomery bus boycott lasted about a year. It took a year to get the transit system in that small town to breakdown and give in, and it will take the same commitment, self discipline and self sacrifice over at least as long a period to actually make a difference. You can’t just change the day that we as blacks make our oppressor richer and expect this to serve as a punishment. You know why autoworkers strikes are often so short. Because those striking workers costs automakers like GM and Fords Millions of dollars in lost production. They don’t take care of these guys out of the goodness of their heart and neither will the U.S. government in regard to blacks. So now you know my view.
Simpleminded Americans do not understand world economy. It's easier to blame Mexicans immigrants for loss of jobs than to put the blame on the government's decision to promote NAFTA
There are many things causing the decline in jobs here in the U.S. and I do agree that NAFTA is one of them. Immigrants to this California at least do contribute heavily to employment loss as it relates to unskilled labor and also in many of the construction related trades. This jobs problem is not as simply as NAFTA or immigration. I believe that NAFTA and this 30's model of a welfare state half to go.

The bottom line is that this kids have parents and lawyers. The Duke lacrosse players set their behinds down once this case started. I know b/c I'm from Durham, NC and even the white people in the neighborhood complained about the history of them distributing the neighborhood with their parties.
I'm not comparing these boy's to the Duke situation, but where is the counsel involved? This mess is not over with nor should these young men be partying like the rock stars. These boys need a wake up call, and by them attending the BET awards looks like they acting las if the battle is over. This generation has no clue of social change and franklin not many of their parents do either b/c they were either too young to participate or to scared to get organized. We have must teach the significance of what's really going on. Yeah these boy's might be 16, but I don't know too many 16 year olds that understand the systems of institutionalization that we live in. These kids are ponds and they playing right into the game.
Each one, teach one! There are too many teachers for these boys to be in that situation period.

Please visit the website of AmericaIsWatching.org (www.americaiswatching.org) and click on the story of Moe Gibbs (hhttp://www.americaiswatching.org/MoeGibbs.html), a man who is on trail for a murder of a young woman who lived in the same apartment building as he. No evidence has ever been linked to Moe, in fact DNA testing points to two other males, NOT Moe.
Valley City, North Dakota Police Dept failed to do a full investigation. Gibbs was an easy target; a Black ex-convict in an almost all-white community, living in the same apartment building. In June of 2007 Moe's first trial ended in a hung jury, showing that the jurors did have definite doubt about him being the murderer. His new trial starts with opening statements the first week in November. Moe's family and the defense team have received death threats and their vehicles vandalized. The radio stations have aired negative and racial comments such as "hang that nigger in the parking lot," and asking for "vigilante justice." So the new trial had to be moved again...this time to Bismarck, only 30 miles from Mindy's hometown. Moe's chances of getting an impartial jury grow slimmer by the minute.
Another girl has been killed in a similar way since Moe has been in jail, so the killer is still out there while they continue to focus on Moe. This is an injustice not only for Moe, but for the family of the murder victim, the new murder victim, and other young women who may be at risk in the community until the real killer is apprehended.
Please email, call or write to the contacts provided on this website (http://www.americaiswatching.org/MoeGibbs.html)and do what you can to ask that the case be investigated further.

Hmmm. IMO, the kids should kmow better, but I do realize that kids mature at different rates. Since I don't know the kids or the parents, I can't judge.
I would vote that the TV network is exploitative. But, I'm not a good judge of that since I hate ALL TV. To me, all of it is exploitative and manipulative. I think TV rots the brain and has NOTHING good to offer.

If the immigrant is over 65 they can apply for SSI and Medicaid and
get more than my mom gets for Social Security, and she worked from
1944 till 2004, only getting $791 per month because she was born in
1924 and there is a "catch 22".
It is interesting that the federal government provides a single
refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00 and each can also
obtain an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of
$2,470.00/month.
This compares very well to a single pensioner who after contributing
to the growth and development of America for 40 to 50 years can
only receive a monthly maximum of $1, 012.00 in old age pension
and Guaranteed Income Supplement.
Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!
Consider sending this to all your American friends, so we can all be
ticked off and maybe get the refugees cut back to $1, 012.00 and
the pensioners up to $2,470.00 and enjoy some of the money we were
forced to submit to the Government over the last 40 or 50 or 60 years.
Please forward to every American to expose what our elected
politicians have been doing over the past 11 years - to the over-taxed
American.
