Huntington High Freshman Says Principal Choked Her.. Incident Caught On Cell Phone

Link to article: http://www.ksla.com/global/story.asp?s=7164538

It's a scene that would make most parents cringe. The thought of seeing your child choked by somebody else. But what if that somebody, was your child's principal? It's a scene 14 year old Ladosheia Willams has seen first hand. "He started squeezing my neck, and he squeezed it so hard, that my neck started to hurt."

Williams, a freshman at Huntington High says she was a innocent bystander to a fight on the campus Tuesday during lunch, and says when Huntington High Principal Jerry Davis attempted to break up the fight, she says Davis pushed her. " I was walking off with one of my friends, talking , saying he could've said excuse me. And he overheard me."

And that's when Willams said Davis put his hands around her neck, and began choking her. Some Huntington High School students we spoke with like Santana Williams on Wednesday say, they're shocked at what they saw at school. " He's saying he didn't do it, but the whole school, even teachers are saying that he did it."

Williams says she did hit Davis in defense, as she tried to free herself from his grip. Williams says there are reminders of the incident on her body an imprint of a finger on her face, and scratch on her chest. Williams' mother Venitta, says she went to the school to talk to Davis about the incident, and says Davis never mentioned anything to her, about possibly choking her daughter. "During that time, I talked to him. He assured me that he didn't do no hurt, didn't cause any hurt or harm to my daughter."

Venitta Williams says hours later, while at work, she received the video of the entire incident on her cell phone, and says regardless of what happened, there's no reason to justify his actions. " There's no way a man of that nature should be the head of that school, or any other school around any kids handling them like that."

For Ladosheia Williams and her mother, they say they would like to see Davis, suffer the same fate he recommended a month ago, to a former Huntington coach, so scenes like this like the one Ladosheia Williams saw, will never happen again. "I want him to reap what he has sowed. The same thing he recommended for Mr. Green, I would like to recommend for him."

Cross burning in Cape Coral

Cape Coral, Florida - This story was reported first by WINK News. A Cape Coral woman wakes up to three large crosses burning in her yard.

This is a picture of the crosses taken by Robin Lacey and her family.

It happened at the 2100 block on Northeast 9th Avenue in Cape Coral. Robin Lacey lives with her 3 children. Her 11-year-old daughter Amanda woke up last night after she heard her window smashed, and glass went all over her bedroom. The daughter went to sleep in her mother’s room. When they woke up to check out the broken glass, they saw the three large crosses burning in their front yard. They then called police. Police have taken away the three crosses.

Robin Lacy says, “They don't have a clue who did it, they don't think it was a random act, they think it was someone trying to send me a personal message.”

Lacy says she is now very nervous living in her home. She wants to move out of the neighborhood, and maybe the entire area.

Police are investigating.

School staffer quiets student with duct tape

Cobb School District officials are investigating a Compton Elementary School staffer accused of sticking duct tape across the mouth of a 10-year-old fifth-grade boy.

District spokesman Jay Dillon said the alleged incident took place Friday when Jordan Cox, a staffer with Compton Elementary's after-school program, placed duct tape across the boy's mouth to silence him.

Cox's excuse is that the boy agreed to have his mouth taped shut in exchange for reducing a time-out sentence, Dillon said.

"That's not acceptable, whether the boy permitted it or not," Dillon said.

The boy reported the incident to his mother, Tanya Jones, who reported it to the Powder Springs Police Department, Detective Kelly Gobely said.

Detective Gobely said her office turned the incident back over to the Cobb School District.

Dillon said the school district plans to turn its information over to the Cobb County Magistrate's Office.

"It would definitely be a cruelty to children charge," Detective Gobely said.

Since Friday was Cox's last day on the job, Dillon said there is little action the district could take against him, although another Compton after-school staffer present during the alleged incident has been placed on paid leave during the investigation.

Cobb school board Vice Chairwoman Betty Gray, who represents Compton Elementary, has been an educator for more than 50 years, but said she can't recall ever hearing of an educator taping shut the mouth of a child.

"That would be new," Ms. Gray said.

Deputies compete in arrest contests

Southeast L.A. competitions were meant to boost morale, official says. Baca calls them a well-meaning but ill-conceived idea.

Participating in sports such as football, weightlifting and boxing has long been part of the culture within the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. But deputies have recently been playing some new games -- on-duty enforcement competitions that have police watchers across the country crying foul.

One recent competition, described in an internal Sheriff's Department e-mail obtained by The Times, was called "Operation Any Booking." The object was to arrest as many people as possible within a specific 24-hour period.

Other one-day competitions have included "Operation Vehicle Impound," a contest aimed at seizing as many cars as possible. And another challenged deputies to see how many gang members and other suspected criminals could be stopped and questioned.

The prize for winning was nothing more than "bragging rights," said Lt. James Tatreau, who helped organize the events that involved teams of deputies patrolling the southeast Los Angeles cities of Lakewood, Bellflower, Paramount, Artesia and Hawaiian Gardens. The station is one of 23 that make up the nation's largest sheriff's department.

"It's just a friendly competition to have a little fun out here," Tatreau said. It was Tatreau who sent the e-mail about the booking contest Aug. 15. Tatreau said he viewed the games, which began in July, as a morale booster for overworked deputies who, because of staffing shortages, are required to work four overtime shifts a month.

But police accountability experts, civil libertarians and defense attorneys condemned the practice, saying that it trivialized traumatic encounters such as arrests and having a car impounded, and raised questions about deputies' motives in taking such actions.

Hubert Williams, president of the Washington, D.C.-based Police Foundation, which promotes innovative policing strategies, called the competitions "highly problematic and inappropriate."

"The arrest is one of the most potent tools in the possession of law enforcement and should be used with great thought," Williams said. "It's not a competition or a game."

Others, including Los Angeles County Public Defender Michael P. Judge, worried that the games might also prompt deputies to make illegitimate arrests to boost their statistics.

"Certainly, it calls into question whether there was a legitimate reason to book any of the people who were booked during the time of the competition," Judge said.

"It's crazy," said Jane White, the associate director of the National Center for Community Policing. "I'm at a loss for words. I've never heard of anything like this before."

After being called for comment by The Times on Wednesday, Sheriff Lee Baca said he spoke with the Lakewood station lieutenant. Baca called the competitions a well-meaning but ill-conceived idea that promoted "the wrong values."

"We train deputies to be independent thinkers and leaders," Baca said. "The lesson learned here is that -- whether it's for morale purposes or to increase productivity -- law enforcement is not the kind of service where you can dictate the activity.

"We're not into numbers, we're into quality," he said. "I don't think it will occur again."

Operation Any Booking did not result in an increase in arrests on the day of the contest, according to records provided to The Times in response to a public records request. The cities reported a combined total of 28 arrests, which was equal to the daily average that month.

The impound competition, however, appears to have dramatically increased the number of vehicles seized, records show. On average, deputies in the five-city area hauled away 4.7 cars a day in July. On the day of the contest, July 11, they impounded 37 vehicles -- which owners could not recover until they paid a towing fee.

Deputies in Lakewood seized 18 vehicles that day, half the total they would impound over the course of the month.

The number of field interviews with gang members and other suspected criminals also soared during the contest to increase that particular enforcement activity. Tatreau said the spike occurred because some deputies had fallen out of the habit of doing that intelligence gathering.

Before he was contacted by Baca, Tatreau said he stood by the idea to encourage deputies' productivity and had been encouraged by deputies who liked the competition.

"They were pumped and excited," Tatreau said. "I've never got any negative feedback. It's not a quota or review system. It's a morale booster."

Like every station, Tatreau said, there are "good, hardworking deputies and there are the lazy guys." He said he was trying to encourage the less motivated deputies to get more involved in proactive police work.

Tatreau said he joined the Lakewood station about 18 months ago and noticed that some deputies weren't pulling their weight. Some patrol deputies made 15 to 20 arrests a month, while others made seven arrests in an entire year, he said.

"It frustrates me that people are so against doing work and cry foul," he said.

Tatreau said he was "almost certain" that he was the one who came up with the original idea to have deputies compete, but that he did so with the approval of his captain.

On the day of the contests, a sheet of paper was posted in the watch commander's office where deputies reported their activity. At the end of the 24-hour period, the team results were tallied.

"We're not doing anything wrong," Tatreau said. "No way, no how did anyone encourage officers to falsify a report or an arrest."

Stand up, Family. Thanks to admin for starting this thread. Does anyone have a number or email so we can contact the school district? Is anyone in contact with the family in Florida? Nothing new in L.A....thank God for police watch groups! The duct tape incident seems to be an act of utter stupidity. Yes, racism is alive. I feel the situation will only get hotter before the flames are extinguished!

Deputies compete in arrest contests

So thats why io got sooooooo many tickets lol. Police officers do these kinds of things and then wonder with a straight face why it is that they are not trusted.

Coast Guard takes action against racist noose incidents

CNN reported on Thursday that last July a noose was found stuffed into the personal belongings of a black cadet on a Coast Guard training ship. Two weeks later the Coast Guard Academy's civil rights officer, who was preparing race relations training for cadets headed for the same ship, found a noose in her office. The culprit or culprits are still not known.
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), who led the call for a full investigation, joined CNN to discuss the incidents.

"There are some people who don't like the fact that our country is becoming more and more diverse," Cummings stated. He added that the situation at the Coast Guard Academy presents particular concerns, because "the last thing you want are your leaders not being tolerant."

When the black interviewer asked Cummings if the diversity classes themselves might be stirring up racist feelings that promote such incidents, Cummings reaffirmed the importance of the classes being a part of the cadets' leadership training. He also emphasized that avoiding discussions of racist attitudes does nothing to help eliminate them.

Cummings said he is sure that 99% of the cadets are "great young people" but "they should not tolerate it among themselves, because they will be judged by their weakest links."

US Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Thad Allen, who was about to deliver a speech on the subject to the cadets, explained to CNN why such behavior is particularly unacceptable in the Coast Guard. "We're a humanitarian service," he said. "We save people's lives. We have to watch out for each other when we're doing rescue operations."

He emphasized that cadets are held to the same standards of conduct as active-duty coast guard officers, and that this would be considered conduct unbecoming an officer under the Universal Code of Military Justice. If the perpetrators are uncovered by the current criminal investigation, they could face a court martial.

"The people we serve need to see a Coast Guard that looks like them," Allen concluded. "We need to understand the cultural differences and be sensitive to the fact that the people we're saving out there come from very different walks of life."

The following video clips are from CNN's Newsroom, broadcast on October 4, 2007.

Police: Black student marked with 'KKK' at deaf school
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- A weekend incident with racial overtones at a high school for deaf students could result in criminal charges with "enhanced penalties for a hate crime," Metro Police Chief Cathy Lanier said Wednesday.

A black student was held against his will and then released with "KKK" and swastikas drawn on him in marker at the Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Sunday, she said.

No charges have been filed, and no names have been released, Lanier said.

The incident began when a group of black students and a group of white students were in a dorm. "My understanding is the two groups engaged in friendly horseplay," she said.

But, she said, the groups got "angry with each other."

The two groups separated, she said, but later, six white students and one black student -- all between the ages of 15 and 19 -- took one of the black students into a dorm room and "held him there against his will."

"They used markers to write 'KKK' and draw swastikas on the student," Lanier said.

The student was released after about 45 minutes. He notified dorm and school authorities, who called police.

Lanier said police have identified and interviewed the students involved and the "investigation is ongoing."

"The support we've received from the campus and from the school employees has been tremendous," Lanier said. "And I think they're supporting us in making a very strong statement that this investigation may lead to charges that could have enhanced penalties for a hate crime."

The school is a residential high school on the campus of Gallaudet University, a higher education facility for deaf and hard of hearing people. The high school is administered as a division of the university's Laurent Clerc National Deaf Education Center.

Dean of Clerc Center Katherine A. Jankowski said the seven students who participated in the incident were sent home.

Gallaudet provost Stephen Weiner said the school does "not tolerate any action, behavior of this type."

"We are taking action," he said. "We are looking at programs to help students understand we are a school with a diverse population."

"This incident is intolerable," he said. "That's why the Metro police are involved. That's how serious we are about this incident."

Jankowski said the school has also hired a consultant to work with the school and its students on diversity issues.

On Monday, teachers and staff hosted a school-wide assembly with students related to the incident, said Jankowski. Individual and group counseling services were also available to students, teachers and staff.

"We are committed to ensuring MSSD is a safe and supportive learning environment," she said. E-mail to a friend

Middle School Project Asks Kids To Defend Slavery
New Jersey Students Told To Create 'Catchy' Plantation, Illustrating Why Slave Labor Is Good

(CBS) CALDWELL, N.J. Two local middle school teachers are in hot water after assigning students a controversial project on slavery that's angered parents.

Over 100 sixth graders at Grover Cleveland Middle School in Caldwell spent several days last week taking part in an assignment where they used terms like "build a plantation" while completing their "Lap of Luxury" social studies project.

The project instructed students to create an advertisement defending the use of slave labor to run a newly built plantation in South Carolina. Students are told to come up with a '"catchy" name for the plantation and give three reasons why slave labor is the "best idea" and to add illustrations.

One student, who is not being identified because of his age, read to CBS 2 what he wrote for the assignment: "Slave labor is the way to go because slaves aren't paid, so all money is profit."

Parents are astonished by the assignment's nature.

"It's really offending," said Tyiesha Hameed, whose child is one of the only eight black students who attends the school. "There's so many other ways and tools to show our kids how to learn and teach them in reference to slavery."

One question parents and officials are asking is whether the 11- and 12-year-olds even understand the lesson which was given to them.

"The students have to use their creative spirits to create justification. That gets the mind pretty worked up, and it embeds some things in their process that will be there for forever," said James Harris, president of the New Jersey NAACP chapter.

Casey Shorter, the school's principal, said he didn't find out about the project until after he spoke with a concerned parent. "Our intent was not to be insensitive. After reviewing the assignment and listening to feedback, from an administrative and teaching perspective, we determined it was insensitive and inappropriate. And we will eliminate it from the curriculum," he said.

Citing privacy issues, Shorter would not say what he's done with Dana Howarth and Beth Rutzler, the two language arts teachers who created the controversial "Lap of Luxury" project. He adds this is actually the second year that the teachers have given the assignment.

This story came out at the height of the Jenna six situation so it was politely swept under the rug by the media. I have no idea what is happening with the situation because no one is reporting for all I know they have already been freed. Here is the link http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/years/2007/0911071logansix1.html
It started out with the major media but I guess they were afraid to continue with the story now that our people have begun to stand up.

This is craziness!!

The Compton school issue - that is in GEORGIA, not CA (I have family in CPT), but it is still bad news.

I hope the young lady's mom plans to sue the school board.
Mom, please dont "punk out" and not sue. Not only did he put his hands on your child, but he lied to your face. He doesnt care. Maybe your daughter made her comment with a little more attitude than was needed, but that does not excuse his actions.

I wish someone would do that to my child - they would have paperwork on their desk before the end of the day!!!!

Handle your business-support your daughter, dont let the mistreatment of AA woman/girls continue.

He wrote about Jena and every story listed in this thread weeks even months ago...and the recent story of the female student choked by the principal caught on cell phone video reported last week!

Incidents like this will be the reason cell phone video and image capture may be banned. There is technology already developed to render cell phones incapable of capturing and sending images of police using excessive force

Cell phones in school may also be banned...DO NOT let it happen!

1. the Principle had no right to place hands on the student in the first place. Period, point blank, the end.

2. But let's take this incident for a ride...if this young lady were to mouth off at say a local thug or drug dealer we might not even be having this conversation at all. She might simply come up missing.

We have to be careful what we say and how we say things around our children. True indeed we want them to stand up and be strong, but sometimes it's best to keep your seat and your mouth while your elders are in your presence.

I am not sorry to disagree with the two previous posters.

YEs the young lady appears to be one of the "fresh variety". This does not justify the principal, male or female attacking her. Could it be he manhandled her in this manner because he:
a) thought he'd get away with such action?
b)was angry about the fight that may have occurred among some males whom he could not control?
Homeboy was WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! and he lied about what happened.
Regardless of what she may have said he was WRONG so very wrong on so many different levels!

The school board and county authorities have not yet received a complaint...don't worry they will and I expect it will be in the form of a multi-million dollar lawsuit...one can only hope!

This issue is not only the principal. Don't get me wrong, he is wrong and should be punished to the utmost extent of the law. My concern is the remark made by the youth.("he could have said excuse me"). Why is it that our children feel that they can say anything they want to to an adult, white black or indifferent. We need to teach our children respect for adults and how to handle situations. If we don't teach our children the right way to do things we will continue to be treated in any way. This whole matter could have been handled differently.

I feel that in yesteryears; when the paddle was used to discipline our children in schools and prayer was accecpted that the parents and the teachers were more in control of the children. Now people have taken God and the paddle out of school and even the right to lay hands on them in the home; until they reintroduce these principles back in to everyday life we are at a loss. I myself have a son and I am raising him in a Christian atmosphere and i firmly believe in spare the rod spoil the child and this is how I come to the (we are at a loss) statement.

I am a school teacher. I never want to think about putting my hands on someone else's child, but last year, someone's child put their hands on me and did not release his grip until I plastered his little tail into a wooden door. Was I proud of that? No! But I do not go to work to hae anyone's child put their hands on me.

When I was coming up, I was more afraid of the school calling my mother than the police! There is no healthy fear in our children and they don't understand boundaries.

As a teacher, I just ask that people raise their kids to have respect. Some of these children are more than a handful. They are down right disrespectful on a whole other plane. Did he go to far in choking? I would say so. But you have to look at the whole picture. I contact parents all the time about their disrespectful little darlings. It is not important enough to them to come and talk to me about the issues going on with their kids, but then, I'm expected to give up more and more of my personal time for the needs of people who are quite frankly not that pleasant to be around. That's why kids mouth off! Because they know that the people at their homes clown too and will not come to see about their kids.

Funny thing is, the state will tell you not to put your hands on your kids and then they build more prisons to house our kids after they have gotten so far out of control that no one can handle them. In Georgia, corpal punishment is still legal; child abuse is illegal. If I had a child that thought they were going to call the police or Child Protective Services on me, I would let them take the little darling with the clothes that he or she was wearing on their back as a loaner. I own those clothes too.

A lot of black kids were UNWANTED, unloved, untrained, undisciplined, and uneducated.(which is why so many are up for adoption)

Contrary to what some people think, a child isn't concieved at the time the sperm meets the egg. The child is concieved from it's parents very THOUGHTS.

If at the time of conception, the mother was thinkiing, "I'm gonna BEAT this fool, have his baby, and make him pay CHILD SUPPORT", or if the FATHER was thinking, "I'm jus' in dis fo a piece of butt, then i'll move on to the next promiscuous woman"; if the parents were thinking LUSTFUL, DEVIOUS, IMMORAL, EVIL, or UNGODLY thoughts at the time of conception, you can't expect a GOOD child to come out of that.

video of police MURDERING someone

In Gwinnett County, Georgia, an un-edited police videotape shows 31-year-old Deacon Frederick Williams being struck with a TASER five times in 43 seconds, just 4 minutes after being led into the jail.

He was handcuffed behind his back and in leg restraints, following an epileptic seizure at his home; an ambulance was called by his wife and son, but the police arrived first. His last words were: "Don't kill me, man. Don't kill me."

No charges have been filed in the torture / murder; the County DA refused to show this video to a Grand Jury, even though another man in custody was murdered just months earlier after being tortured with a TASER by the same police.

I have to agree this whole thing should have been handled differently by the adult in charge. If an adult cannot have better control, maybe he shouldn't work with children.

"If we don't teach our children the right way to do things we will continue to be treated in any way."

Children in my generation could not think in terms of disrespecting ANY adults. We followed orders, sat in the back of the bus without complaining, politely drank from separate water fountains, etc. We were still treated like crap.

I'm not convinced that certain people will treat a well behaved child better than a "fresh kid". The child is not responsible for the adults behavior. I think that comes under taking personal responsibility for ones actions. That principal is responsible for behaving like an out of control savage.

Huntington High Freshman Says Principal Choked Her.. Incident Caught On Cell Phone

Link to article: http://www.ksla.com/global/story.asp?s=7164538

Venitta Williams says hours later, while at work, she received the video of the entire incident on her cell phone, and says regardless of what happened, there's no reason to justify his actions.

This sentence raised a red flag for me. Anytime a woman says, "regardless of what happened, there's no reason to justify his actions" , that's the sign of a FOOLISH WOMAN. It DOES matter what their kids do and if their actions are bringing negative consequences. At 16 years old, a boy named Nathaniel Brazill, shot and killed his teacher at school. Perhaps ALL teachers at school should be ARMED.

It DOES matter what your children do!

Perhaps ALL teachers at school should be ARMED.

It DOES matter what your childrer do!You still shouldn't be going around choking them, unless the child literally came at him/her or something and one tries to do so in self-defense. The child made a comment along the lines of the principal being rude in his approach to the situation, and then the principal started choking the victim here. In the case of what the mother said, for this instance, I actually agree. A comment which resorted in a child being choked when there was no physical confrontation from the actual child towards the principal is wrong no matter how you look at it. The principal even said he didn't do it, when loads of students and teachers saw him do so. He was entirely in the wrong.See. This is why our kids get arrested. I remember my granpa telling me that the teacher was the authority and so was his stick. It's funny. So the girl felt he should have said "excuse me"...it's just common courtesy and proper etiquette...although, for myself, as a child, I more than likely would've thought it instead of said it. In a way, she was right...although, I was under the impression that it was a passing comment not necessarily meant to be heard by the principal.

I really don't know all the details of the situation, but I DO know that no WISE parent would EVER say, "regardless of what my children do, they don't deserve any consequences for their actions."

Any INTELLIGENT person knows that in life, you reap what you sow.

Maybe the principle WAS wrong. I wasn't there, so I can't be sure, but the mother's inadequecy as a parent, and perhaps, the reason why her child's father wasn't in the home, was shown by her stupid words.

Any INTELLIGENT person knows that in life, you reap what you sow. You're assuming that that is referring to everything a child does wrong. I was under the impression that the mother was referring to this one isolated incident. No matter what a child does in this type of situation, like her daughter did, does the child deserve to be physically attacked, especially if the child didn't physically attack the principal. I agree with her assessment in this case.

When a person says "regardless" that means that no matter WHAT they do, they shouldn't be punished. The word "regardless" means they should be able to get away with doing ANYTHING.

For example, if I said, "Regardless of whether I robbed the bank or not, I shouldn't be punished", i'd be an EVIL person. People who think such thoughts have a SICK and TWISTED MIND.

The superior man remembers how he was punished for his mistakes; the inferior man remembers what presents he got---Confucius

I have a cousin in prison right now who was born in adultery(his mother left her husband and concieved him with another man), and has never been good ONE day in his life. Being a DEMON SEED and CONCIEVED in UNGODLINESS, when he was little, his mother DEFENDED him when he was WRONG and ALWAYS took his side.

("My son didn't do that. Y'all LYIN' on my little boy).

Being concieved in adultery, he naturally was inclined to do wickedness, and as a teenager, was sentenced to juvenile detention. As he got older, his crimes became larger and larger, but unlike his mother, the prison guards didn't give a DAMN about her son!

So I don't need ANYONE to tell me about how SOME black women are about their children. Their mothers will side with them, even though their kids are BAD AS HELL. You can keep thinking "regardless of what my kids do, they don't deserve to be punished" if you WANT to, but when they grow up, the cops will throw their bad aszes in jail!

When does it stop?
TROUP COUNTY, Ga. -- A mother is not happy with the punishment given to an 8th grader who choked her son until he passed out.

The mom said the incident happened in a classroom at Long Kane Middle School in Troup County.

The student who did the choking received an in-school suspension and could be expelled. The mother of the child who was choked is not happy with how the school handled the incident or the punishment doled out so far.

Dylan Hester, 13, said the choking came out of nowhere and he doesn’t know why the student choked him. The 8th grader said he lost consciousness and woke up on the floor.

Dylan’s mother said she is upset the school allowed Dylan to ride the bus home without seeking medical attention first.

“It was kind of painful at first. Then I started getting real dizzy and stuff and that’s when I passed out,” said Hester.

The student who choked Dylan will go before a tribunal hearing and could be expelled. Dylan’s mother thinks he should face charges. The district superintendent said the school acted quickly to be reasonably sure the student was safe and doing well.

So the girl felt he should have said "excuse me"...it's just common courtesy and proper etiquette...although, for myself, as a child, I more than likely would've thought it instead of said it. In a way, she was right...although, I was under the impression that it was a passing comment not necessarily meant to be heard by the principal.

Your right the principal was wrong, am not arguing right or wrong with what the principal did. My point is that regardless of how the principal reacted I believe that the principal would be preceived as wrong which goes to my bigger theory that bad parents are not providing dicipline to their children and they also don't want anyone else providing it. Some of these kids (and I believe that this girl is one of them) need a swift kick in the pants from somebody. The question is if it's not going to come from the parents not from then from whom will it come. The last thing I would want is for my child to have his/her first taste of consequence to come from the criminal justice system.

Let me go a step further just to piss a few people off. Where was Mychal Bells dad to kick his behind when Mychal was getting in trouble for things that had nothing to do with race and nooses? ........ Don't worry I'll wait.

Your right the principal was wrong, am not arguing right or wrong with what the principal did. My point is that regardless of how the principal reacted I believe that the principal would be preceived as wrong which goes to my bigger theory that bad parents are not providing dicipline to their children and they also don't want anyone else providing it.This isn't too surprising. I've noticed it with younger children. These children now-a-days do things I would've never fathomed doing, or either I would've "thought it" or something like that. I just knew better than to mouth back at an adult or talk back to someone in a position of authority, unless I was in a situation where I was being treated extremely unfairly. Like this one time, my study hall teacher wouldn't let me out to go to the library to work on a paper for my Honors English 10 class, which I had permission to go to, mind you, through my English teacher, who had written me a pass and everything. The reason was because the previous day (or sometime before), at lunch, I ate something that didn't agree with me...and sorta took a long time in the restroom. She counted that against me and scolded me, even though I told her I was having stomach problems (I was so embarrassed to have to share this with her, and was feeling kind of sick, but not enough to want to go to he nurse). She just "assumed" I'd skipped, which I didn't, but she didn't seem to want to hear it.

Anyway, I semi-argued with her, and told her that I had to work on my paper. I need English to pass to the next year...study hall, no, and that that was what study hall was for in the first place. She still said "no" and wouldn't let me go, so I did something very unlike me. I got up and walked out the classroom. That was nerve racking! I'd never really spoken to a teacher in that fashion (defiantly) since they're the authority and how I'm supposed to obey him/her, which I learned through my parents...more so my mother; my dad has a short fuse where authority is concerned still doesn't seem to get that there are consequences for your actions >_>;

Anyway, before going to the library, I went straight to my principal to tell him what happened before my teacher could call up, or whatever, and give her side of the story, which could possibly make me look bad or try to put all the blame on me. Since I was never a trouble maker, my principal believed me, and my study hall teacher got into trouble. I was able to do the research on my paper and I got a decent grade on it.

It was stupid of her for trying to keep me back. With our high school's library, we had to stamp our passes once we got there and again when we left. The time from when I stamped in/out would've been on the pass, and the librarians actually knew me. If I stamped in, and left, and then snuck back, they would've known and would've been able to say, "Hey, Wendy wasn't here."Some of these kids (and I believe that this girl is one of them) need a swift kick in the pants from somebody. The question is if it's not going to come from the parents not from then from whom will it come. The last thing I would want is for my child to have his/her first taste of consequence to come from the criminal justice system. That is sad. It's ashame that parents don't seem to be allowed to discipline their kids. I just read an article just yesterday about a ten-year-old Russian boy who committed suicide because his parents took his video games and computer away because his grades were bad. He gets discipline, and the kid can't handle it, which is very sad.

I'm all for disciplining, because I don't want a child of mine (if I have one) to come up thinking that there are no consequences for your actions, and how you are supposed to respect authority (your teachers) when I'm not around. The teacher is like a second parent when you're in school, and unless the teacher is being literally unfair in anyway, whatever that teacher says, goes. I wouldn't take any mess like that and I'd instill that into my child at an early age. I don't want any child of mine going to a prison and such.

My mother has always said that I seemed a bit old-fashioned and old-school in this sense, and I suppose she's right. ^^Let me go a step further just to piss a few people off. Where was Mychal Bells dad to kick his behind when Mychal was getting in trouble for things that had nothing to do with race and nooses? ........ Don't worry I'll wait.I have to agree with this one. Mychel Bell came from a two-parent home, and he was still a trouble maker prior to the incident with that Justin Baker boy. It's sort of like my other post...I've come across more "trouble-makers" from two-parent homes than one-parent ones. As a matter of fact, most of the boys I went to school with who ended up causing trouble down the road were from two-parent homes.
