Student Gets Arm Broken by School Security Guards

Link to Article: http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/strange/news-article.aspx?storyid=92372

Parents and students at Knight High School in Palmdale, California are upset over an incident in which three teenagers and a mother were arrested last Thursday after a melee with security guards, prompting an investigation into the guards' behavior.

The incident came on the heels of a birthday celebration during the school's lunch hour, at some point the birthday cake was dropped, spurring a domino effect of mayhem.

A cell phone video taken by a student showed a 16-year-old student arrested by campus police.

According to the student, she had dropped the cake and subsequently cleaned it up.

When the security guard told her to clean up a part of the mess that was overlooked, a verbal altercation ensued -- and quickly turned physical.

The security guard then grabbed her by the arm as she was headed towards her next class, the student said.

The student said that the security guard was so overzealous in twisting her arms despite her pleas otherwise that he wound up breaking her wrist -- which is cast-bound.

The security guard called her a "nappy-head," the student said.

The student said that when the security guard realized the incident was being recorded, he tackled the student taking the video.

When that student's sister tried to intervene, she too was injured and now has a brace on her arm.

And the plot thickens.

When the arrested student's mother arrived at the school, she was subsequently arrested for allegedly battering the principal.

The mother has subsequently said that the incident has caused a disruption in her life, mainly as a result of explaining the issue of prejudice to her daughter.

Another parent, Serena Ochoa, said that she has complained about the guards before.

The student is currently expelled and will attend a hearing to determine her future status with the school.

I thought we should have our own schools a looonng time ago. They dont want to be with our children. I am on a Booker T. Washington level now.. If they dont want to be around us.. Why should we?? We generate enough capital to build our own schools and hire the teachers, counselors, and Principals we want to have. I am WAAAAYYYY past sick and tired now..

V100 in the morning with Cliff Winston and Co. actually did this story as well about two weeks ago. They should have the transcripts of the show and maybe audio. According to another mother this security guard harrassed her mentally disabled son. The mother of the girl with the brokedn wrist was jailed along with her daughter and the boy that recorded the incident for battery. As of two weeks ago the boy was still in jail and the security guarded called her "nappy headed." The security guard is on paid leave.

I heard this story a week ago and was outraged, but then I got the other side of story. The story on the news and in papers is only the girl and her mother's side. Other witnesses told a different story about what happened in the lunch room and in the principal's office. It wasn't a simple matter of cake being dropped. There was a cake fight, and an altercation between the girl arrested and another girl. On top of that the girl who was arrested was shouting and cursing at the security guard before he subdued her. The mother was arrested because she assaulted the principal. There were witnesses to all of this. So I hope both sides of the story come to light.

I live here in L.A. and I have a little sister who just graduated from J Pete Knight high school. I can say that pete knight high school has the same problem that Palmdale does as a whole. Overzealous school officials and law inforcement. Especially when it comes to that cities youth. I think that the side of the police cars (Because they are on that campus too) should say "F-U" not "To Serve You". Because the officers here have surely forgotten this. The same goes for Palmdale Unified. The principal and the superintendent should be ashamed of themselves. But this has been in a story in L.A. for two weeks now and trust the administrators do not care. Hopefully the added attention and pressure from our family here will make them rethink this.

When I heard this story I just had to register so I can voice my opinion on this matter I feel that the world is so corrupt and self center and that if we are not careful the white man will have us back in bondage so that can control us. It just let's me know that we as a people must stay on our knees and pray until something happen and for the security guard he should be in jail for put his hands on a minor because that's an assault and battery

This is so crazy

I grew up with a father as a police officer in the youth division he also was a school counselor and it has made me see how there can be a balance between being someone in authority and having compassion for the youth. But seeing this and Jena it makes my heart weep. I am also a mother and it scares me to know my son is at the mercy of individuals that couldn’t give a damn about his wellbeing.

THIS IS A STATE OF EMERGENCY

Our children have been under attack visit the schools and take a look. WAKE UP PEOPLE

When children report to school in the morning they are greeted by security guards at the door then they have to walk thru the electronic equiptment then they are asked to hold up their arms the hand held wand is then waved around the body. They are preparing them for prison -the way some of the guards, teachers speak to our children would make you want to holla.

We need to provide our own schools - the lack of education our children are receiving is a direct result of lack of parental involvement. Plus our children need their culture it is essential.

When compared to Suburban schools parents are involved each step of the way they attend Board Meetings, PTA Meetings, afterschool night looks like a party night everyone is in attendance and they attend and support the children school activities.

Attend back to school night at an "urban" school and see the number of parents that participate. We must do better. Our children need our love, protection, guidance and support. We have to demand exceptional service for our children at all levels.

This takes me back to Brother Malcolm X saying, "I am not a racist, but I will NOT love someone who DOES NOT love me."
Our people need to keep that in mind all day every day because we are the fools of the world. We get treated like this DAILY and do absolutely nothing to avoid what?! We get treated badly and only complain about it when there are thousands to back us up! Each community in every city needs to stand up individually as a whole to let these people know enough is enough!
That girl deserves none of this and yet, here we are again fighting for basic HUMAN-not even civil rights! Why? Let's stop asking why they hate us, open our eyes, know that even if they don't they are programmed to live in a way that drips hatred/white supremacy in order to keep their uplifted position in this society, and REALLY make a difference. If all ETHNIC PEOPLE in that area alone stop shopping at ANY/ALL businesses NOT owned by people of color for ONE WEEK, that will show them the damage we can really cause and that's when real changes are made. The people that fuel the racism fire care about money, power and position only and I'm sorry to go off on a tirade, but it WILL NOT END until WE put a stop to this frackanackle bull!

You don't get to break someones wrist because the person has an attitude problem. And from what I understand from those who attend the school that my little sister knows the incident was not serious enough to warrant the security guards actions. This was an excessive use of force on the guards part. Also the school district has spent alot of time since this incident stonewalling the media by refusing to share information. If there is another side to this story, than I need to see documented proof because the little girls side has a tape.

Even if the girl cursed him with every name in the book, you do not break a girl's wrist for that. Why weren't there more people who got in trouble if there was a cake fight? Obviously there were more people involved in this.

I will say this, stories like this have opened my eyes. I once thought that maybe white people were trying to get along with us. Then I took a look at my job situation. I work in a prestigious law school and these people (white people) are really more racist than ever. And what blacks don't realize is that it's almost worst than it was before. Simply meaning back in the day, it was legal for them to do what they did, they did it in your face without holding any cut cards. It was what it was. Now a days they are being sneaky and doing it undercover. So you don't know what in the world has happened it just hits you in the face all of a sudden. That is the worst thing about it.
As long as you keep quiet and shut your face about everything you are ok with them. That's why I trust NO ONE BUT GOD. And he will direct my path. He will tell me where to go and who to hang out with.

Let's see, how does it warrant expulsion? She's black, he's white, they're racist, it was on video (sure fire way to get you killed or worse if you're on the "wrong side of the lens"), Black people don't use their God-given strength enough to let these ignorant fools know that we will not stand for this type of treatment on ANY level, and did I mention he was white and she wasn't?

They've wanted this "race war" for as long as I can remember, and apparently they've been winning the one we've been in since the first slave ship docked here. Why should we have to battle people that hate us for NO REASON? Our energy should be distributed into productive uses like starting our own manufacturing and development firms etc. so we can give them exactly what they want: an America without Black people. What they fail to realize is that WE along with the rest of the majority they like to call minorities (this needs to stop, it SCREAMS WE ARE INFERIOR!) are the backbone, the brain AND the heart of this land whether or not they care to admit it to themselves (although they know it's fact ;)
Who's down for that battle? It's a shame, we only want peace, they only want war.....yet WE ARE the uncivilized ones!

Let's wait and hear all the facts before we rush to judge. This the first time I've even heard about this story. Did this child deserve to be roughed up by these people who are supposed to protect and serve? Hell to the no! And these officers deserve to be punished for that. However, do we know the whole story yet? Are we sure that this all started because she dropped some cake on the floor? What happened before the cake was dropped? No doubt this world is full of racists, and people who want to do us harm. And while many innocent people have been wrongly accused, jailed, and far worse for things they did not do, there are still people who deserve to be punished because they are guilty. My heart goes out to this girl and her mother, and it is my sincerest hope that they will be okay. There is always two sides to every story.

To all the familly menbers,

Its unfortunate that America today is still experiencing clear racially motivated actions (crimes) by people put in position of authority.

Usually, prejudice, the need to hurt and mear hate of people a different color clearly led to this little girl being hurt by an monster police/cop/guard (whatever you wanna brand him).

Since racism has always been part of this country's history; one would only think that it will be appropriate to have position in the senate to represent black people and the issues we face due to racism all over the country. A representative in the house whose mission would be to put to the face of the house what people of this country are facing due to racism. Pass a law that will subject the culprit to a lenghty sentence if found guilty of committing a racially motivate injustice or crime.

I am so sick with the news in our country everyday their are race issues. And the issues are getting more and more indept as time goes on. we have to step up to the plate now and start watching our kids and protecting them. i remembers years ago watching a movie called, east side high and in that movie was a part when the principle was arrested and the children came together and they started a protest their was a minority on their that came foward and said ( YOU TALK ABOUT THE LAW, but in fact you are TWISTING THE LAW ( LAWS WERE MADE TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE) and in our country it is total opposite. The laws are made to protect the rich and that is it,.
I have wrote numerous letters to our congressman, the senators the DA's, etc.

We need to start the protesting in our communities and then it will bloom outward,.

we know we cant get help from the president he is more concern about the war and the oil.

P.S. I have always said coming up and I swear By it.

HOW CAN YOU DIRECT SOMEONE ELSES ISSUES IF YOUR HOME IS NOT CORRECT, Point being that how can the president of the united states tell another country what they will do, when he has no control of his home land,

We know where his priorties are.

We now have to step up the plate and fix our priorties.

Why is the guard not in jail? If the girl's mother would broken her arm she would have been arrest for child abuse. So if that is the case why is the guard not in jail. So what they are saying is you as a parent can't beat your children, but other certian people can. Unreal.

The Guard is not in jail because they have to investigate clearly what he did wrong so that his punishment does not exceed the offense. Ha! If this had been a black guard and he was caught on tape breaking a white girls arm her Mom and dad would be pushing for his arrest and conviction.

It is really sad that the school did not make a call to the mother first to inform her that her daughter was injured. Then denied her the right to see her daughter when she arrived. The principal and the security guard should both be removed. The school board needs to hold a hearing to include all parents to inquire how many incidents such as this have occurred with their security personnel. We as parents need to pop up and inspect the schools and audit the classes. If you report an incident and are not satisfied with the way the principal or staff handled it you go higher. A man 3 times a child's size should not even think of handling a child in that manner. He not only needs to be terminated but sued and sent to some type of classes. The principal needs to realize the actions taken on this matter gives the apperance that they school was trying to hide something or get their story straight before speaking with her. I can assure you without the video we would have received an entire different story. This little girl would have been portrayed as a deliquent and a problem children if the young man hadn't put the security guard on tape. We often say we should pray but the bible tells us faith without works is dead. So pray but put some positive actions behind your prayers. Parents unite and collectively inform the media and the school board of your city and state.

I watched Inside Edition today, I am concerned, a lady left her child in the car while shopping at Target, they say she just forgot, how do you forget, you put your child in the car to go shopping, but the law just dismissed it as forgetfullness, come on family, you know if that had been an African American we would be in jail, come on a researcher going to play tennis, leaves baby in the car baby dies. Is he in jail?

~TIME TO GET REAL~

THE DESTRUCTION OF OUR FAMILY IS NOT OF GODS WILL. THE DESTRICTION OF SOCIETY IS OF MAN AND IT IS GOING TO GET WORSE IF WE ALL DO NOT BAN TOGETHER TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS THAT IN RECENT YEARS AND MONTHS HAVE BEEN BROADCASTED.

It is a disturbing to see all this hate and violence towards any person especially the youth.

I AM ANGRY AS HELL AND I KEEP PRAYER THAT IF THIS OR ANYTHING VISITS MY FAMILY LORD BE WITH ME.

AS A FATHER OF A 12 YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL, A FORMER POLICE OFFICER AND A CHRISTIAN MAN WHO OWNS A BUSINESS,WHICH IS GOING TO MAKE A DIFFERNCE IN THE COMMUNITY AND SUPPORT MICHAEL IN HIS EFFORTS.

I HAVE TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MY ACTIONS AND IT IS TRUE THAT IT DOES TAKE A VILLAGE TO RAISE OUR CHILDREN. IF THIS DOESNT MAKE YOU ANGRY THEN NOTHING WILL AND YOU WILL CONTINUE TO SIT IN YOUR SIDE CHAIR COACHEING FROM THE SIDELINES AND NOT BEING A PARTICIPANT IN WHAT GOD HAS CALLED OUR LAND.

We all must not sit and allow this to happen all over the nation even in the back woods where no one hears those voices that are calling out for help How long will we as a people will sit back and allow others to be persecuted, held down and most of all abused. I AM AFRAID THAT A NEW ERA OF CIVIL WAR WILL HAPPEN AND YES I AM CALLING IT NOW, BECAUSE IT IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO THE WRONG BLACK PERSON, THE WRONG LATINO, THE WRONG PUERTO RICAN AND OR THE WRONG MINORITY LIKE OUR NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS, WHO DOESNT GIVE A CARE FOR ANYONE BECAUSE OF BEING PREDISPOSED TO A CULTURE THAT IS UNLEASHED ABUSE AND ITS OWN PROPOGANDA AND AGENDA THAT SPEW OUT NEGATIVITY.

MICHAEL, YOU HAVE BEEN DEEMED THE VOICE OF A NEW MOVEMENT. NOW FAMILY EVERY GENERAL HAS LUETENENTS, ADMIRALS AND SOLDIERS AND THERE MUST BE SOLDIERS THAT COME AND TAKE THE BATON AND LEAD IN A MOST EFFECTIVE WAY THAT PRODUCES POSITIVITY AND AFFECTIVELY PRODUCES RESULTS.

What is happening to being a respector of persons. Lets keep this real we are all being angered above this because it is an adult abusing a child and it has to do with race whether you want to see it or not. Thankfully it was viewed on video phone. YOU ALL CALL THE SCHOOL AS MICHAEL REQUESTED ASK THEM THE IMPORTANT QUESTION WHY, HAVE THEY ALLOWED THIS TO

HAPPEN? SKIP ALL OTHER QUESTIONS. WHY?
KEEP CALLING AND ASK THEM WHY?

As a teacher in a majoirty African-American school district, it still suprises me after 9 years of teaching how little WE get involved in the lives of our children. We get involved when it all falls apart and is breaking down but if we were more active from the beginning things like this wouldn't happen so easily. People and not just parents but everyday citizens, politicians, and these churches need to make it a point to visit at least one elementary, middle and high school in their community on a regular basis. The school police, security and politicians would not be so quick to abuse our children if everyone stepped up and did their part on a regular basis.

Michael,

I am listening to you conversation concerning the situation with the cake. I don't want to come off as be defensive of the security gaurds at this school, however, as a police officer and having the opportunity to work in the DC Public School in Washington, DC. I will say this, I begged to get out of the schools because majority of the children at the school were very dissrespectful, combative, and dangerous. They challenged every points of authority that was set for them. They had security gaurds in the schools and they were scared of these kids. When you had to confront them, you always had to be prepared for the next level of authority, which sometimes meaning physically removing them from the schools. Needles to say they alway resisted. I have seen many police officer, principals, security gaurds and other students injuried by students in high schools and middle schools. I think that it is a shame that the girls was injuried, but lets not be to judgemental on the security officer until you find out exactly what happened. I have children myself and I would never want to get a call from my childs school telling me my child was hurt by anyone. Michael, I think that maybe you should go and walk some of these schools and see these children for yourself. At this point in my career, you could pay me double of my salary to work in the schools today. Let's think about this. If these kids were acting apporpriate, do you really think we would be hearing of these stories today. We need to learn how to control these kids and teach them that they represent us adults.

I think they are just drawing a line in the sand and daring us to cross.....Everyday a different story, right in your face.

I'm fed up!!!

I agree. The whole thing is just getting crazier by the day. I, for one, have become increasingly disgusted and ticked off every time I hear a new story. There is a saying that "when it rains, it pours."

To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing because I am very concerned about an incident that happened recently at Knight High School. The way it was described was a young woman, ________, spilled cake in the cafeteria, and after she didn’t clean it up to the school security guard’s satisfaction, was subdued by the security guard in such a way that she sustained a broken wrist and then removed from school grounds. Later she was expelled, and arrested for assaulting the security guard and littering.

I understand that managing a school can be very difficult and that there are two sides to every story, but the video of the incident does not show the girl attacking the security guard, quite the opposite. It shows a very large man using unnecessary force against a child, and the broken wrist seems to support that.

More troublingly, I have read that Ms. ______’s mother was arrested after she complained at the school and sought an attorney in response to her child having her wrist broken by a school employee. Furthermore, I read that the student who took the video and his sister have also been arrested. Lastly, some people have reported that the security guard used racial slurs when he detained ________, indicating that there was a racial component to all of these incidents.

This is extremely upsetting. I will be following news of this incident, and very much hope there will be some investigation as to whether the security guard was using inappropriate amounts of force and the whether the students involved were wrongfully arrested. I hope that this incident can be resolved in such a way that order is maintained in the schools without students fearing attack and wrongful arrest at the hands of school employees.

Sincerely,

Hopefully this will help. I see you left out the student’s name and didn’t want to publish it here in case you did it out of privacy concerns, but otherwise, this is my e-mail to the addresses you listed, or you may fax this letter. Thanks for giving those.

Look what is happening in Appomattox, Virginia. Appomattox is where the Civil War ended.

Appomattox Co., VA - How harsh is too harsh when it comes to punishing a 15 year old boy? That's the question surrounding a teen in Appomattox County who got into a fight at school. He's been suspended for a year. He's also facing 5 to 6 years in prison. We spoke to him Wednesday.

Corderyl Banks, Facing charges - "I would just like them to walk in my shoes for a couple days, couple months."

They are a little heavier these days. Corderyl Banks wears this monitor on his ankle 24-7. In May, nearly done with his freshman year, Banks got in a fight at Appomattox County High School. One punch, he says, and the other teenager was on the ground with a fractured jaw.

Banks - "He was trying to jump my friend."

Now he's charged with aggravated malicious wounding, participation as a gang member and gang participation on school property.

Banks - "'Ain't no gangs in school. Ain't no gangs in Appomattox. I don't even know where they come up with this."

Walter Fore, NAACP (website - news) - "This isn't a gang thing. He admitted that he had the fight. You discipline him from the school side for the fight. Why bring in the police."
Walter Fore is with the local NAACP. He says Banks is a misguided kid who has learned his lesson.

Fore - "His experience in these last few months has been devastating. To come down and to see him can't go out of his yard. There's no more punishment for a 15 year old than that."

Banks - "It's just about me getting my education back and just going back to school and trying to start over things."

But on November 16th, the day Banks would have celebrated his 16th birthday, he'll be in court instead. Tried as an adult and facing up to 6 years in prison.

Banks - "I ain't scared 'cause I mean I've been reading my bible and trying to change my life a little bit so there isn't anything to be scared of. I already know everything will be alright."

Fore and Banks's father are working on getting him tutors so he doesn't miss out on a whole year of school. We tried to contact Commonwealth's Attorney Darrel Puckett and the Superintendent of Appomattox Schools, and made an effort to speak with the other boy in that fight. None of our calls have been returned.

This is the vicious cycle that is becoming common in our society. They think nothing of us, and they are trying to do whatever they can to get us caught up in the system. Face it, once you are in the system you can't escape. Since we as a people are becoming more educated, wealthy, etc. we are becoming more of a threat to life as they know it. What do you do when you feel threatened? You attempt to eliminate that threat, and that is what is happening. It is time for us as men to pull our FAMILIES and protect women, children and other interests.

What up Mike.... Man u my boy!!!! I love the show and I love this change in programming and getting involved with what's going on with our people around the country. It's like we finally have a real voice for this kind of mess. And we all know it goes on in every part of this country, we just never hear about it. Mike, I've been listening to the show today and started searching the web to look for stories/reports of this incident. I found a radio interview online with the mother where she describes what happened and gives out her phone number for anyone that can help. Don't know if you've gotten this info already, but thought you might want it and be able to contact her and get the ball rolling on this one. It's Latrisha Majors 661-992-7173 and the link for the radio interview is: http://prisonplanet.com/audio/011007majors.mp3

I tried calling into the show, but couldn't get through.

I heard Plajee's mother give an interview on another show and she mentioned she had been suspended from her job pending her outcome of her court case. Her case doesn't go to court until mid November. She is also a single parent, so this, she said, will be a financial hardship for her.

What we are seeing is what has been swept under the rug for so long. It is sad to say but my generation has turned a blind eye. We have forgotten or do not care about what our grandparents have fought so long and hard to change. What is going on is not something that has just happened. What we see now has never stopped happening to our people. Now we are finally waking up  to see that our youth are being senteced to long years behind bars for minor altercations, and all the injustices that are happening to our children. It is great to see people finally go back to the mentality that " IT TAKES A VILLAGE TO RAISE A CHILD" Stop letting THE SYSTEM tell us how to raise and protect our children.

Dear Family
I have always contended that racism burns in 'their' bellies like a pilot light. It never goes out but ignites into a bigger fire when the opportunity arises. There are two words that we must remember...Overt and Covert. Back in the day racism was overt, it was demonstrated any time and anywhere. Today, because its not very popular; its done 'covertly' but the results are the same....it breeds hatred and for us old schoolers, it stirs ugly memories.

I cannot believe that TODAY we are still living in a era that racism is growing. I am angry. My dad raised me to be color blind even though he had his own prejudices. I am proud to be an American, but I am sadden by hearing this time and time again. Color has nothing to do with the person inside!!! Take a blood sample and you cannot tell the difference. I remember a comercial where the openning scene is a baby nursery in a hosiptal the next scene is a cemetary, and the commenator says something along the lines the only time that race does not matter. I am sad to be an American right now. Do we not have enough of the world hating Americans that we need to hate ourselves as well!!!!

We need to be bold enough open our eyes and see just how far the rabbit hole goes. There is an assault us every day. Its about money, its about slavery. This country is building prisons quicker than they are building schools. Who do you think makes the products that are on Walmarts shelves? Someone needs to fill those prison bed. Who better than the a people conditioned to accept institutionalized slavery. Look at the history of slavery. After a while Africans were not stolen and broken, slaves were bread on the plantation. Much easier to condition. Wake up people before we are no more.

Man, look here this is some real B.S. I saw the story over the weekend on www.prisonplanet.com take a look sometimes. This is not only happening to the black folks around the country it is called the Police State and it will only get worse!!! Of course it is worse on blacks than anyone else, what we need to do is change the mindsets of the black community and stop all this seperation. It sickens me to see the way our people behave and it sickens me even more to see the police state every where you go.. And once black people get together and work together for the whole of our community then we can effect change on higher levels, I am truly inspired by Nat Turner, he was fed up with the treatment of his people and took it upon himself to effect a change. Now don't get me wrong marching may help some, but their eyes will only be opened when a show of force is upon them!!! And until we get together that show of force won't do us any good, we need to band together like the Mexicans did and then bring them a SHOW OF FORCE the bible says "The Righteous taketh by force"!!!! So lets get together with like minds and show the powers that be that we mean business, suggested reading The Willy Lynch Letter, pass this writing along to the kids and explain to them what it means and relate it to life as we know it today. Some say that ignorance is bliss, but I consider it to be a curse!

AINT GONNA LET NOBODY TURN ME AROUND
TURN ME AROUND, TURN ME AROUND
AINT GONNA LET NOBODY TURN ME AROUND
KEEP ON A TALKIN KEEP ON A WALKIN
MARCHING ON TO FREEDOM LAND"

I am posting today because I am looking for my check that was promised to me over 140 years ago. I was told that eventually I would receive this check that I could re-deposit into the BANK OF JUSTICE that Dr. King described on ?August 28, 1963. Dr. King said that this check that I would be given, said that the Declaration of Independence and Constitution promised that all men would be guaranteed the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Although America has defaulted on that check. I as a Black man have the right to re-deposit that check, because it is time for the BANK OF JUSTICE to honor my deposit because I deserve for my account to be in the black.

With the Jena6 situation, the guard in Palmdale, CA, the situation in D.C. where the deaf student was marked with KKK, the young lady in Texas sentenced to 30 years for "pushing a student", "ISM" still is alive in well in this country although we don’t have to worry about the Bull Connors with police dogs biting our children, or Gov. Wallace, calling us ignorant, agitators, and it flows like a underground river, making no noise but we know it's there.

This "ISM" reminds me of when Rev. Sharpton eulogized Rosa Parks and made this statement," We don’t need to worry about Jim Crow anymore because Jim Crow is Dead...but his sons James Crow Esq. and Jim Crow Jr. are alive and well in 2007.!

In the 1972 Democratic Convention, Rev. Jesse Jackson stood up in front of all the Democratic Delegates and shouted these three words in order to direct a political course of action. He said, “ITS NATION TIME, ITS NATION TIME, ITS NATION TIME.! Hence we too need to utter these words 35 later in order to say enough is enough. Its obvious we have the mobilization, we have the resources, we have the intelligence, we need to mobilize and create a nation wide united front that will tackle injustice on a daily basis so that all will know that we will respond each and every time our children or our brothers and sisters suffer injustice, though legal and political action!

The time for action is now! We cannot let this re-energized movement go to peril by walking away from this momentous occasion thinking that we are really tackling issues. We are our brothers’ keeper and each must say no more! No more false imprisonment, no more unequal treatment, NO MORE!

It is time for us all to re- align ourselves with our forefathers to fight for Justice and Freedom! Besides, we have all been given the same check to deposit, but we might not be able to get to the bank if we don’t give each other a ride there.

In looking at the Jena 6, can be easily be the Jena 50, the Jena 100. Once a pact is made by all of us, then and only then can our children, and our children's children have true justice and parity and really be able to walk into that Bank of Justice, hand the teller the check, receive a smile from the teller and having her ask "How would you like the denominations?", showing us finally after all these years, there is enough money in the BANK OF JUSTICE, affording all God's children those unalienable rights.

THE MOVEMENT STARTS NOW! I reside in Los Angeles, CA and am willing to take that first step for social change. Feel free to contact me at spidey9322@aol.com Steven. A. Webb, PhD.

Man THIS is DaPhilosopha and I have to say that I didnt like you at first man! I didnt really agree with some of what you had to say, and to be honest, "Everything is everything" used to get on my nerves. But today I heard you say for the first time, "Everything is NOT everything."

Man I been listening to you for a while off and on when there was nothing else to listen to on the radio and I didnt bring any cds to ride to. And shucks, like I said, I didn't really care much for you, but since the Jena, LA thing I've grown to love you man! The way you handled EVERYTHING was outstanding man! BIG CRAZY UPS TO YOU! I'm immensly impressed with the way you stood up for the alarm call. The way you didnt back down. The way you defended your supporters and listeners. If no one else believes that you dont want the credit for this, I believe you man. I see you as a man who is just trying to do right.

I've been saying since the day I first heard you on the radio, that everything AINT everything coz everything AINT ALL RIGHT! I tried to call you today coz I wanted you to hear all of the above from DaPhilosopha's lips, but man, you caint get thru on your line (yes I said, "caint)!

Anyway, there is alot I want to say, but Ima pace myself and give yall bits and pieces, and hopefully I'll be able to tell you whats on my mind with my mouth-piece instead of my 10 manual voices AKA fingers. You have a loyal supporter and I wanna see you keep doing whatcha doing!

Why do they feel they have to keep us in check while we spend billions to fight a war on people who they say want to wipe THEM off the face of the earth? Again priorities are twisted. I see insecurities and fear of the power we as a race are capable of acheiving should we come together as a people; especially the black male with the backing of strong black woman. When it's all said and done if we don't learn to live as human beings, we will continue to have even worst problems.

A. Webb, PhD.

What next? Are they going to arrest folk for just speaking out? This is crazy. Has the notion of not being able to speak out permeated from the White House so much so that it has fostered this type of atmosphere? What next arresting folk for satting out on their front porch?

We spend so much money as a people. use the money for our power and not theirs (the Majority) this racial undertones and racial in your face (our face) needs to stop they will continue until they are met by a force as strong than theres. You are right we need to step it up and now is the time.

All I can say is ENOUGH is ENOUGH. This is scary

Nelson Mandela said, As we are liberated from our fears, Our presence automatically liberates others.

lady entrepreneur,
Why be scared? We are in the process of being liberated from our fears. Some of us didn't realize we had these fears until the events in Jena, Louisiana. Oh but didn't you feel liberated on September 20th, 2007. Because of men like Michael Baisden et al, we are more empowered to liberate others. I'm positive others would love for us to experience fear. NOT ANY MORE because Enough is Enough.
I'm not scared because it's time for all of us to wake up. There is a story out now about a girl dropping cake on a cafeteria floor. As a classroom teacher for over 31 years, we and other teachers who share my sentiments are shouting HORRAY because it's about time our people open/reopen their/our eyes. These typeS of offenses have been happening to our children in school all over this country for years. But now, thank God, we have means to get stories out to others. Older parents are being awaken, and younger parents are being shaken to reality. It's okay, It's time.

And, if we feel that all of our Black Administrators or classroom teachers in these school are looking out for our children; then think again. Many of them are culprits in these crimes happening in our schools everyday. Wake up!! Many of them are only in this profession for the MONEY. I know because I've been there.
I was transferred out of my school to another building in my district. I was given three days to remove my personal belongings because I reported our African American Black Superintendent to our Majority African American School Board of Education. This superintendent became very angry with me because I spoke with School Board members. I had a problem in my classroom that became a hazard /danger to my students and me. I had fifteen computers in my classroom; and water began leaking into our classroom from a leaky ceiling. Water, water everywhere. I contacted Board members, she got angry, I got transferred. This transfer was at the end of the school semester. My students nor parents were informed about the transfer. The substitute in the classroom that I was sent to, was sent to finish out the school year in my classroom with my students. Try to figure that one out.
WE REALLY NEED TO TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT THOSE AFRICAN AMERICAN LEADERS IN EDUCATION AND HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE TOO!!!
I can go on and on about these wretched school systems; but I'll stop. You are right ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

OMG....

This doesn't make any sense. I really don't care what she did, she is still a child and he is an adult. You do not treat children like grown ups period.

Whether or not the mother asaulted the principal..she should have because to me she was defending her child. For all we know they probally denied to let her see her daughter and tell her what was going on and she went off.

I am so mad I dont know what to do. I agree with staying abreast to what is going on in the schools. We need to start taking care of each other and standing up for what is right.

What was the big deal about some freakin cake anyway..all of that over something petty and I guarantee that if she was not black he would have not made her go back 3 times to clean it up that is insane.

Second how can you tell someone that if you push the issue you will be arrested for protecting your child. What is going on ? If your eyes were not opened before I hope they are now.

Where are The Fathers and Men in our Communities?? Incidents like these are happening all over our nation and every single time you see the mother at the child's side crying but yet you never see the fathers.
I guess our men are too busy killing each other, going to jail, Chasing White Woman, or trying to be players & gigilos (seeing how many women they can sleep with) etc.

I'm 24 years old and I'm to the point I'm sick of talking about these stories we need to stop talking and start thinking and finding solutions.

Here's Where I Feel We Need To Start.

- First Foremost WE NEED JESUS.

-We Need to start loving one another and supporting each other as African Americans instead of being divided.

- Ever Since We (African Americans) were integrated into the public school systems with white students it has been clear that they never really wanted us there. So If whites don't want us in they schools, Perhaps it's time to build our own schools. After all, they don't understand our children the way we do, They don't teach us our true history, and a lot of the fundamental programs that we once had no longer exist (like home economics we're children learn how to cook sow etc) especially in a time where our children are dying at alarming rates due to poor eating habits and diabetes. They have Brain washed us into thinking everything associated with being black is ugly, wrong and shameful (ex: our hair referring to it as Nappy and don't hire our own lawyers, doctors etc.). I say we respond to them and say "So What We're Nappy, Happy, Black, Beautiful, and Proud") While everything associated with White is beautiful, pure, and righteous.

- We need to educate ourselves concerning the law. Like so many, I myself have come into contact with the law and have not known my rights and it's not just the young people a lot of adults really don't know the law in order to better help themselves and the kids.

-Secondly, We need to rebuild our families it's clear that we don't have enough Fathers in the home. We need to take it back to the days when the teacher / Principal called Home It was "Our Parents (mom & dad) that came up to school. My mother like so many other black women raised me and my sibling on her own. I think it is unfair & double standard for society to put all the responsibility on Black Mothers. This Idea of our men having babies all over and not taking care of them is NOT WHAT'S UP!

Which Brings me to my Final Comment:
To ALL The Those That Have Black Boys You must ask Yourself What are You doing to ensure that these young black boys grow into men?? and be the men and leaders for our communities as well as be good men to our daughters.

Parents with Daughters also need to ask themselves the exact same question What are you doing to ensure that our girls grow into educated & respectful women?? If we don't teach the next generation we will ultimately loose the battle and become EXTINCT! We Black Women Can't Save the Children ON OUR OWN WE NEED OUR BLACK MEN AND WE NEED THEM NOW!!!!!!!!!!

SO WILL THE REAL MEN AND SOLDIERS OUT THERE PLEASE STAND UP!

Yours Truly,

Ms. Safyre

This is a damn shame. I saw the video and that big ass man had no damn reason to be on that little girl like that. What is going on with these people treating our Black children any way they want now? This is a mess and I hope it doesn't go unnoticed. And I hope it's not swept under the rug.

Like it or not we have to take responsibility for our children. We have to be responsible for their protection, education and up bringing. when you let the world raise your children. They become victims of the world. we have some communities within our nieborhood we ourselves are afraid to enter because of the drugs and violence going on. When the police go to enforce the laws they treat our children like they are animals, and this additude transcend to all our children, the good and the bad. Until we clean up our house this will not change, we have to regain our respect for ourselves before anyone will respect us. We have to get the drugs out of our community, we have to say enough, the stigmatism and stereotypes that are perpetuated as a result of this element is affecting us all.

When we were younger we were taught that how we conducted ourselves was vital because we respresented our race and that how we did things would affect the other brothers and sisters coming behind us. It was important to conduct ourselves in an appropriate manner. We were taught about what our ancestors did to get us here, and how it was our responsibility to honor that legacy by doing and being the best we could.

We dont teach this to our children, some of these kids dont know who Medgar Evans is, they no little about Malcolm, and all the other civil rights leaders who gave their lives so that we can have an opportunity to obtain the American Dream.

If you look at the Jewish community,a once oppressed community, most of them dont send their children to public schools, they begin teaching them about their heritage as early as 3, they support one anothers businesses, they hire their nieces and nephews, and the reason that the crime is low in their community is that they vote, they will go to city hall, when you have a strong voting power the politicians listen. Its not to say that they dont have drug and crime problems its that they come together as a community realizing that they have a common enemy and the only way to overcome them is to come together.

(MB) Michael Baisden & Family

It is about time someone drops the knowledge like its hot, and what I am referring to is the truth about why Blacks around the world are so hated. Now I don’t know if this has been stated before but if it has then I am just piggy backing and hopping that everyone that reads this understands that there will never be a change until we as Black men and women make a change within ourselves first.

The thing that main stream America and the rest of the world fears most is not the amount of money Blacks make or the type of home we have, they don’t even care if you are educated just as long as we do not step out side the box.

If each of us was to take a step back and look at this world for what it is, all would see that there is not another race of people as dominating as the Black man when it comes to genetic interaction. No matter what race you mix a Black man or Black women with that child will come out to be Black now the same can be done with any other two races of people and genetically it’s a toss up as to which race that child may belong to at first glance. So with that said the last thing society want's to see is a world of colored people as it was back in the biblical days.

Blacks are feared! did you hear me, I’ll say it again Blacks are feared not for violence because the truth is Blacks have never tried to conquer anyone, Blacks have never invaded another’s country our tried to enslave anyone the most damage Black folks have ever done was done by us things we’ve done to our selves’, meaning we are the biggest enemy of our on people.

The only way things will change is if Black folks stop doing crazy things such as drinking, drugs, Black on Black crime, negative music, cleaning up our yards our neighbors, our communities stop blaming everything on the White man because the truth of the matter is we as free will people have a choice and if you really want to take it a step further being the first people on the planet all those sinful things that the Bible talks about is us our ancestors did those things and this is why we must endure so much pain but brothers and sisters we can change it all not by just sitting back and praying but actually getting off our butts and making a difference in our communities as we look to better ourselves and praying that along the way we don't hurt some of these ignorant folks trying to destroy what GOD has blessed us with from day one the Lords love.

Please excuse the length of this post, but please read as knowledge is power and power resides with The People!

Aren't The People of the united states of America sovereign? If that is still a fact, then aren't we all part and parcel of We The People of the united states of America? If this is also still a fact, then...;)

...follow me on this little deductive reasoning, and correct interpretation of the law.

Isn't the "public school's" security guard considered a PUBLIC SERVANT/OFFICER? Aren't the principal, assistant principal and arresting officer public servants?

Who do you think they serve? We The People of the united states of America! You and I!!

Well, according to The State of California Constitution, all public servants/officers must take an Oath of Office.

In California, that Oath of Office (Article XX Section 3 of The State of CA Constitution) is to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of The State of California against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

To violate your oath of office is an act of TREASON!!!

If that public servant is subject to The State of California Constitution, he is also subject to The State of California Government Code wherein Section 11120 known as the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act and Section 54950 known as the Ralph M. Brown Act state at the very least:

"...the Legislature finds and declares that the public commissions, boards and councils and the other public agencies in this State exist to aid in the conduct of the people's business..." (emphasis added)

The public agency would be the PUBLIC SCHOOL. They are simply there to help make sure (aid) the kids get their education. The security or school police are there to protect and serve the students who are there receiving their education.

Both of these codes go on to say:

"The people of this State (California) do not yield their sovereignty to the agencies which serve them. The people, in delegating authority, do not give their public servants the right to decide what is good for the people to know and what is not good for them to know..."(emphasis added)

All this said to say that this young lady and her mother have the legal grounds right here in these codes and articles to bring criminal charges against the principal, school, school district, security guard, arresting officer, City of Palmdale, and Los Angeles County (under the responsible corporate officer's doctrine) for unlawfully exserting authority and force over The People (mother and daughter) who are part and parcel of We The People that govern the said public agencies, officers, and servants. They did not give these public servants the authority to bring harm, unlawfully detain, or harass them.

Isn't there another public servant entitled the JANITOR/MAINTENANCE who gets paid a hefty salary with full benefits to perform the daily clean-up that this officer bullied this young lady to do?

This is also possibly a violation of UNITED STATES CODE Title 18 Section 970, exserting authority over a sovereign. Did you notice that there are TWO sections within the CA Government Code that state the exact same thing under two separate "Acts"! Think about it, there must be something to prove or reinforce in what is being said.

Something to chew on. I hope this adds some legal insight for the family to request that their legal counsel follows up on.

All the protest and petitions in the world significantly help the matter and I'm all in. In addition to protesting, we need to remember that when we sit as the jury in trials, because we are The People, we can void and nullify any law that we don't feel is morally, ethically, politically, and/or socially appropriate. We need to take the same approach in our daily life.

People, please take the time to sit and read the legal codes of the state and country which you inhabit. Don't allow your freedom and unalienable rights to be abridged or stripped from you by your own ignorance and/or fear. And by no means, should you leave the knowing the law up to the "license attorneys" who you seek representation from. Two heads are always better than one. A village/nation is even better!

Californians can go to this state website to familiarize yourself on the codes, statutes, regulations and constitution of this state:

http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/calaw.html

For the U.S. Code you can go to:

Trying to give them a record and ruin their lives are all apart of the plan. This case is just another example of how we are neither valued nor respected in this country. It's sad when you move to another community to build a better life for your children, and the people that live there end up trying to make it a living hell for you. Have any of you ever filed a civil action against anyone on behalf of your minor child? Then you will know that in order to proceed you must fill out a Guardian Ad Litem. This form is asking the court permission to represent your child in court.

Have you ever wondered why anyone can call child protective services on you and even submit a lie about you abusing your child and without your permission or the facts, the state can take your child right out of your arms? Why? Because technically, systematically, your child is not your own.

We are all subjects of the state, (unless you have taken appropriate measures). This is part of the reason why the state has to provide for the general welfare (assistance) to individuals with or without children and/or families who cannot provide for their own well-being.

Unfortunately, this is something we have to think about. It is time for us to ban together and re-establish the power which we rightfully and lawfully possess.

Try reciting aloud or quietly, The Pledge of Allegiance....

Have you come to the part about the flag standing for the "Republic".

Let's wake up, stop working to live and live to be free! Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is everyone's God-given right, let's fight for it!

"What's going on!!!!"-Marvin Gaye
As far as this case goes...the first thing we as a people need to do is come together and get this young lady back in school. If you all didn't get the memo, she was expelled from school, and is facing explusion hearings...I feel that the school had her arrested, so they can turn the tables as much as they can. They knew they were going to be facing lawsuits, the media, and bad feedback/criticism that would affect the school's credibility. Had this young lady actually done something wrong, she would have been arrested the day of, and not a few days later.

I don't know, obsanjo1, this mess is pretty damn overt.

Now, back in the day, a indoor or playground fight, fooling around was not address by security, The teacher sent a note home or called and the parent pulled out the belt. We have to back to the old school way when it doesn't involve a weapon such as a gun. No security officer should place his or her hands on any youth.

When city officials began attempting to clean up the county and city of L.A., they moved many Sect. 8 recipients to the Antelope Valley (Palmdale and Lancaster area) and other areas on the outskirts of the City of LA.

I'm a real estate appraiser in S. Cali. When the property values of the veteran Antelope Valley residents started dropping due to the redlining caused by the emergence of Sect. 8 families in their neighborhoods, Palmdale and Lancaster officials have begun stings aimed at ridding the cities of as many Sect. 8 families as possible.

And unfortunately, it's the assumption that all minorities living out in the desert are there as a result of public assistance. They figure, why else would they leave "the hood"?

I hate to pull the race card, but in this instance, as with the Jena 6, the San Francisco 8 (the senior citizen former Black Panthers), and the Virginia young lady to name a few, we are seeing an outright fight for survival by any means necessary.

When you back a bear into a corner, you can expect to be malled to death. The UNITED STATES was established on the foundation of white supremacy (not the united states of America, there is a difference, check out http://www.usavsus.info/). The KKK was an arm of the government then and now to ensure/promote the survival of their people. I don't blame them, but it will not be at the cost of surpressing our people.

Blacks were never supposed to become citizens of the UNITED STATES, see Dred Scott vs. Sanford because citizens of the UNITED STATES are "denizens" of the united states of America. "Blacks/Indians" were already citizens of the united states of America. Have you ever watched the movie Roots and heard the white boy with his pregnant wife who stayed with Chicken George's family refer to himself as a "denizen"? A denizen is a naturalized citizen of the u.s.A.

With Pluto moving into Capricorn on January 16, 2008, you're looking at a change in government. Uranus has brought about a resurgence of hidden information, which includes the truth behind the government, so before this day that they're dreading comes at the top of the year, you can see the current government by any means necessary trying to instill fear in The People.

You can see the change is coming and turning in our favor because for the first time in a long time (also contributed to the internet) we have pulled together for the survival of our own (exemplified in the Jena 6 protest).

We have a sick and twisted administration governing from the top down to the local and even community level.

The truth hurts all involved because it brings about a call for change.

Let's regain control.

Do not give in, and opt for segregation - remember everything your ancestors went through. Remember Martin Luther King, the nine students in Arkansas, and Rosa Parks. Today there is the young girl in California, the Jena Six, and many others. Stand up, fight and demonstrate PEACEFULLY and in numbers, -but do not let this ignorance win.

When something like this happens, it seems like, more often than not, the black man is not present! Why is it the black woman seems to be fighting these battles by herself? I don't know if the girl has an active father, but I did not see him.

Where was this girl's father? Why did he not speak? Even if they are divorced, they should have both stood behind their daughter.

In other instances like this, I almost always see a mother on the news, but no father. It's okay to be divorced, but damn it, be a towering presence in your kid's life!

Everyday this society, is getting worse and worse. There is too much hatred
going on, and it has to stop. Some people are not walking with Jesus, and that is really pathetic. Now, alot of parents are nervous to send their to school. This is not how it is supposed to be. It truly hurts me to my heart to find out about situations like this. No matter what situation might surface, God will prevail and provide for all of his children.

I cant believe this type of nonsense goes on with our schools. Law enforcement must seek out these types of individuals (pigs) on purpose. They all seem to carry this certain piggish Nazi persona about them... even officers of color. Im dealing with a similar incident myself: I was thrown out of a night club for an altercation with another man. There where police officers outside, and I was trying to explain to him what had happened and he didn't seem to really be trying to listen.... so I told him to go "#$%@ himself". After that he grabbed me, wrestled me to the ground, twisted my wrists all to hell... parts of my hands are still numb, and it has been 4 weeks. I now have three charges filed against me: disorderedly conduct, Assaulting a government official, and destruction to government property... and 5000 secured bond. I did not do any of these crimes.

Granted, if you go tell anyone to "#$%@ themselves", the reaction is not going to be positive. He was showing me his pig attitude and I allowed it to boil my blood and I told him to go @#$% himself. This comment challenged their authority and we do live in a police state as of 911. They rule with an iron fist, this is what they want, this is what we were warned about, and is the very reason for 911 by many so called "conspiracy theorist". They are more like prophets than conspiracy theorist. Law enforcement officers can, and will do whatever they please because there is nothing to check them in the system. The system supports and encourages this type of injustice, this is what they built it on, this is what they are about. The more we challenge them, the more they are going to push. They are trying to crush the spirit or "God Self in the people" because they are devils. There is no way... on earth... that an actual human being could do the things that they do... and think it is right or ok.

We are not dealing with human beings here... there is no way we can be... they have to be of something else. I have been studying Buddhism over the last couple of months... and they do speak of different "states" of beings that inhabit the realm of birth and death, which is here on earth or "Samsara". They are as follows, and in order: Hungry Ghosts, Animals, Asura (also known as demi gods, demons or devils) Humans, and last but not least... Devas.

In short.... the Asura are spoken of as powerful, but warlike, and feudal beings, blinded by greed, lust, hatred est... and therefore... are not likely to see or understand the suffering of others. Think of our presidents, and other types of people that are in positions of power, but use it to serve them selves. When we see law enforcement or the judicial system in general, it is the right arm of these beasts that we are dealing with. What kind of human, in any spectrum, is going to man handle a young lady in such a manner as to break her arm.

I think we just need to accept the fact that we are not dealing with "human beings": and go from their

First please tell Michael that I would like to commend him on his wonderful job through out our community.

My theory about all this nationwide racism is quite simple. first we have a Biracial man running for president Barack Obama-by him running the European-Americans are reacting in fear that he might actually win. People are always fearful of the unkown. I feel that European-Americans wants us to know how much they really hate us. In additon, America is becoming more and more diverse, because of that the expectation that they place on us i.e.companies, are demanding that from them too. The color of their skin can no longer give them instant entrance to WHATEVER anymore and they are realizing that. As you know, Europeans have always been covetuos people, therefore, they are coveting what African-Americans are accomplishing and are able to establish.

Furthermore, today, I listened to your show with Sheryl-Lee as the guest from sometimesicry.org and she explained about the young children that are victims of pedophilars, drunkards and abuser. I would like to comment on that as well.

I have been trying to get my house of delegate to pass a bill That Is called Dead Beat Dad Must Pay. I feel that if the fathers who have been proven to be said dad of a child by DNA testing and who does not pay child support, that the goverment should step in and garnish his Social Security check. The money that is being allocated towards Social Security is in hope that one day when the fathers are ready to retire (if they even make it to that age), will be able to have a cusion to fall back on. This of course benefits the father, but not the child.

The Kafka analogy- I have even use Kafka-one of the greatest philosopher of all time about his famous play called The Metamorphosis, for example, "tells of an ordinary salesman who supports his sister and aging parents. One day the salesman awakens at home to find that his body has been changed into a giant insect. He does not know why this has happened, and he will die without finding out. At first he is treated compassiontly by the other family members, on whom he is of course dependent, but soon they resent his not supporting them and eventually come to regard him as a nuisance as well as an unwelcome family secret. At one point, pieces of fruit thrown by a frustrated and irate sister become embedded in his body and grow infected. Slowly but inevitably, the metamorphosized man loses heart and dies. Kafka presumably thought the story represented to some extent the fate of all human beings".

Nevetheless, this powerful piece reminds me how prevlant it is when it comes to a single mother raising her child on her on. If the absent father who's social security check is being garnished on a monthly basis aided this family. Ask yourself, do you really think that, that poor woman would work three jobs, not have the time for her child or would let him loose out on the street all hours of the night. The ansewer is NO. She would make sure that Tyronne is fed, he does his homework and he is guarded with dear life. It is sad to say that money plays a part in this, but life is hard, bills must be paid and the mother is usually the one that suffers and for this it MUST STOP!

Please call me or email me to let me know what you think about this topic. I thank you for your time. Love you for who u are and what u are trying to accomplish. Hey I need a job on the radio...hook me up (hehehe).

Mothers seeking Justice for their sons in Kalamazoo, Michigan will lead a national march on Saturday, October 6, 2007 to continue the march for justice like that seen in Jena, Louisiana last week. "We want the nation to expose that racial injustice is happening everywhere. Not just in the south but also here in the Midwest as well as all over this country" says organizer Yolanda Neals whose 17 year old son, Terance Moore II, was racially profiled and falsely arrested last year in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Neals' son, Terance Moore, was acquitted of the excessive noise charges brought against him after she very publicly exposed that the police had plotted to violate her son's civil and constitutional rights when the teen opted not to give the police officers his cell phone number. As a result of her son's arrest and the enormous out cry from other mothers also seeking justice for their sons, Mrs. Neals organized a group of concerned citizens under the name "The MICAH Project" (Movement Inspiring Change and Accountability for Humanity). Taken from the bible verse Micah 6:8, this group of mostly women, have ignited a modern day civil rights movement in SW Michigan.

Mrs. Neals is joined by other mothers who are leading the charge to right the wrongs in our racially injustice system, stemming from racial profiling, police brutality, ineffective counsel, excessive sentencing and railroading convictions. Like mother Mary Watson, whose son, Aquarius Walker, was brutally beaten by a local police officer in Kalamazoo over the summer and after Mr. Walker was pulled over by what the police department is calling a routine traffic stop. One of the officers at this stop threatened to "blow Mr. Walkers "m*f*" head off" and then the officer commenced to beating Mr. Walker in the head with the officers gun, leaving Aquarius unconscious in the middle of a busy street in a urban neighborhood in front of several witnesses. Aquarius Walker was taken into custody and incarcerated in the local Kalamazoo County Jail and is in need of some very necessary medical attention to the severe injuries suffered in the beating that he is not receiving. Another mother united in the stand for justice is Tonya Ayers, whose mentally handicapped son, Torian Ayers has been tried and convicted of a shooting that he did not commit and is awaiting sentencing on 4 felony counts even though the main eye witness for the prosecution has said that she does not believe that Torian did it. The appointed attorney in Torian's case failed to call any of Torian's witnesses that were ready to testify that Torian was not even at the scene of the crime and every since his mom, Tonya Ayers went public Torian's sentencing has been postponed twice already as she fights to have his conviction thrown out. "It's tough trying to get a fair trial with no money" says Tonya. "We just can not afford justice and it is very unfair especially when I know that my son is innocent". There is also mother Delores Johnson, whose son, Christopher Johnson, was stopped "walking while black" in his neighborhood, illegally searched and had money taken from him by a police officer that has never been returned. The officers claim that they were simply making "citizens contact" and the prosecuting attorney dismissed the charges brought against Mr. Johnson citing the illegal search. But Ms. Johnson continues to protest on behalf of the many young black males that she suffer at the hands of racial profiling from the Kalamazoo police in her neighborhood with the color of their skin being the only "probable cause". There is also Sheran Pearson, who is the mother of Byron Mims and Ms. Pearson has been fighting the excessive sentencing of her son since 2003 when Byron was sentenced to 8-13 years in prison for a first time breaking and entering offense under $300. Ms. Pearson who since founded "Young Black Males - Advocates for Justice" has been traveling all over the country doing her "From the Cradle to the Michigan Department of Justice" presentation and she has been diligently working to change the Truth and Sentencing laws as she continues to fight to have her son released from prison. And lastly also leading this charge is mother LaRhonda Atkins, whose son, Jamarr Atkins, is currently being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail on an open murder charge after he and 10 of his friends were in a vehicle this past spring which a shot was fired from in a drive by shooting that left an innocent 14 year old boy, William Berry, dead. "The problem is" says Ms. Atkins "that the only person from the shooting being charged is my son". In fact, Mr. Atkins is being charged as the shooter when it is alleged that a popular prominent local pastor's son actually pulled the trigger and has been allowed to leave town and Mr. Jamarr Atkins is being tried as the scapegoat. So his mother, Ms. Atkins wants to know "why aren't those other 10 boys that were in that truck being charged with anything?" as she accuses the Kalamazoo Police Department with potentially covering up to protect others while botching the investigation.

Calling themselves the Kalamazoo 6X (the X representing the many people who are afraid of retaliation from police if they go public with their stories), the common denominator with these women is that their African-American sons are poor and in the criminal justice system. They can't afford justice so they like many others in this country, are paying the grave price of injustice as a result of it.

Please join these families as they march to continue the Journey to Justice on Saturday, October 6, 2007 from 3pm-6pm in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Contact kzootmp68@yahoo.com for more information.

What is going on???? I don't care what the young lady said to the officer, He had no right to twist her arm until it broke...and for what, cake on the floor??? Isn't that the janitors job?????
I don't know how we can fix these problems because what is exposed in forums like this is just the tip of a very large iceberg. We must set up groups in our communities to combat these problems, and have resources readily available. Most people are not going to have money for lawyers and legal representation. Let's work this out Family. Our children are paying a hefty price for our complacency. Contrary to what we 30 and over think, WE HAVE NOT ARRIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This message is for Skye11, women cannot make their child or children's father be apart in their lives. That is just the way life is. There is only one thing in life you are supposed to do, and that is be accountable for yourself. Yes, a great deal of fathers and mothers are missing out on precious times with children, but that is their loss. Some people need to stop focussing on the negative, and focuss on the positive things in life. On the other hand, there are alot of men, who are taking care of their families 100%. No matter situation may come upon them.

ML, While I certainly do feel your pain and understand your sentiment(s)...we as a people should never endorse segregation. We are CITIZENS of the nation...Fair treatment is our RIGHT...despite what some folks may think. Please remember that we are only 50 years away from seperate, but equal being the law of the land...

This child was assaulted and battered and she is now suffering from physical and psychological trauma. How dare some grown man put his hands on a young woman like that...Imagine the public outcry if "Tyrone" had placed his hands on "Becky" like that...

to a time where black people will accept with open arms segregation. Let's get our own qualified teachers, our own monies to teach our own children. I am so past being outraged at listen to these stories that I am ready to start a new plan.

Always: Love, Peace & Harmony all over the world

I thought I was sending my child to school to get a good a education. They are getting to them real young even in kindergarten. Not only was he learning his abc’s he was learning his place in society in cruel way. The teacher took him to bathroom alone after a little white kid complained that the toilet was to dirty for him to use and made my son being the only black child in his class clean that toilet, on top the seat and under the seat and the floor with his bare hands, just a paper towel. With no school policy, no notification, no due process and NO GLOVES. My son pleas fell on deaf ears. I am a nurse and if I EVER DID THAT TO ONE OF MY PATIENT'S FAMILY THEY WOULD SUIT ME AND I WOULD BE FIRED. He was just in Kindergarten. Then to add insult to injury a local shock who is a copy cat IMUS called me a media whore when I STOOD UP FOR MY CHILD AND SPOKE TO THE MEDIA. NEVER BEEN IN MEDIA BEFORE THEN. This shock jock has used the N word on station in the past and has had ethnic jokes day mimicking aunt jemima. He held a remote toilet cleaning show over the air and dehumanized my child. He also for several months belittle and maliciously attacked my son over the the air to millions of listeners renaming him the PEE PEE and WEE WEE boy. Schools and hate radio stations have to be made accountable. They are miseducating our children, poorly poortraying our communitys and promoting hate and racism then then dumping our children into prisons after they have destroyed them by mental and physical abuse. They are starting from young with our children dehumanizing and lowering their self esteem at times killing their spirit. www.communityactions.org listen to AUSTIN RHODES OF WGAC 580 AM AND HIS NONSENSE. I work as the only black security officer in a high school in a suburb of cleveland. This school was predomently white (about 95% white) when i started working there in 2002. This is 2007 and it's probably 65% to 75% black now. But I have witnessed some predjudice first hand and I personally try to educate some the students and their parents on some of the things going on. I know for a fact that some of the black children are disciplined more harshly then a white child that has done the same thing. The problem is that most of the black parents only come to the school when their child is in some sort of trouble. I never see them at the open houses, the parent-teacher conference days or anything. The school has an open door policy where a parent can come check on their child anytime or sit in a child's classes for the day if they want to. I feel if some of the black parents showed more of a interest in what's going on in the schools, some of these issues can be avoided before they get started because they (meaning the administrator and teachers) know that you are aware of what's going on within the schools. We as african americans must learn to be proactive and not always reactive, don't wait for something to happen then rally the troops. Go to your childrens schools and be visible, join the pta's and other parent groups and have a voice, join the school board and be a part of the desicion making process. I personally visit my childrens schools regularly, i attend school board meeting and voice my opinion, i also coach freshman basketball and try to instill some values in some of these young men. There is no swearing, using of the N-word in my practices, on the team bus, in the hallways or anyplace else and i constantly check on there grades. I also try to get them out of that tacky saggy pants look so they can look respected and not labeled as a thug. I've been lucky I have 1 daughter and 5 sons, I have graduated my daug of myhter and 3 sons, i have 2 more to go a 16 yr old whose a very good student and a 10 yr old whose also doing very good. It was hard but i was determined to get them there.

This is the USA, the home of the free and the brave. I wonder who that statement is for. It is pass time for our people to get brave and do the things that save our children from these ugly and dirty things that are being put on them by the ugly and dirty people. Jena Six was a wake up call for me. Now we have children that are not allowed to drop crumbs on the floor, come on America. We have got to stop acting like everything is happy go lucky - IT IS NOT - we are in a war. We act as if it is not happening to us it dosen't concern us. The fact that this is happening to our kids it is happening to us.
May God Bless us and keep his loving arms around us.

Family,
I am outraged after viewing this video!!
I am a former police officer and I thought I had seen it all, this really takes the cake. (No pun intended)
Justice has got to be served swiftly on this savage!!!
Talk about parents not being able to discipline their own children; but a grown 300 lb. male can attack and brutally assult a child...
The prosecuter in Jena had the audacity to say a tennis shoe was a "deadly weapon", and this guy is actually walking free???
Aside from continued faith filled, fervent prayer, let's just not spend any money on certain products and services, until the laws are changed and enforced equally case by case for all!
Collectively it is all of our responsibility to protect our babies, youngsters, youth, children.
This is a shame before God; who will avenge this young lady, that's for sure.
Jesus said..."But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believes in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged from his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea". Matt. 18:6
God's got her back!

Please Put his name on Blast. I am sick and tired of this mess. I agree with the other family member lets get our own school.

Our own schools? Those are our school. Don't give up the fight. Those are your tax dollars that helped build those schools and the schools that we demanded to be in during the civil rights movement, and the schools that I think we should stay in.
What we can do is invest in our own communities and begin to heal one another and embrace each other and support each other. Way back in the day the smartest taught the others. We need to encourage a productive way of of doing things without violence, inside and outside of the home. There is so much hate out there against black people the stronger we love each other and care for each other the stronger we become as a people and show the world that we will not be moved.

I am a retired classroom teacher, and I retired simply because of the unjust happening in our schools everyday. You're right. We don't see parent enough. Good teachers are far and few. Many administrators are used as overseers in our schools. Many of the administrators and teachers partake in some of the foolishness that happens to our children. We have to go back to the Ole school when parents showed up to PTA meetings, made unannounced appearances to classrooms, called/sent notes to teachers. If we don't, our children are left to the discretion of a lot of people who don't care about them at all. But, enough talking. We've got to act. We act by forming a Think Tank of Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, Nurses, Radio and News media, parents, grandparents, guardians etc. We meet. We discuss. plan action. The action's goal is to provide a quality education for all of children. Remember, we are the voters and taxpayers in this here country that we call the United States of America. Dr. King talked; but he also called out for action. We have shown that we are tired of talking by the actions on September 20, 2007. Thanks to people like you Michael Baisden and others, we now know that we can act. Some think we're still a lot of talk. I have heard that talk doesn't change things; but action will. If talk could change thing, you can tell me to lose weight and I'd do it. We know that that doesn't work. I've got to do something to lose this weight. Soooo, we've got to do something to change the state of education for our children.

If you think the cake story is something, just try going into some of the cafeterias that serve lunch to our children. See for yourselves what these districts are feeding our children on a daily basis. It will make you sick( too much salt, too much fat, too many carbohydrates)

I thought we should have our own schools a looonng time ago. They dont want to be with our children. I am on a Booker T. Washington level now.. If they dont want to be around us.. Why should we?? We generate enough capital to build our own schools and hire the teachers, counselors, and Principals we want to have. I am WAAAAYYYY past sick and tired now..

this is well overdue. We do have enough resources and funds to create our own banks, schools, restaurants, business, etc. To hell with them, we don't need them, never had!!! They brought us here against our will to build this nation. Then we did and overcame, they wanna get angry and develop "sheriffs", laws, all kinds of set backs. Let's call on these big time paid athletes, singers, entertainers with the big bucks to contribute. We can do it family, we really can...........................

I'm a parent in the Richmond VA area that is very involved in my children education that began when they were born. I began to develop and molding their think ability. I give my kids tough love, I let them know that school is for learning and anything else as far as I'm concerned is extra. I don't want to see you involved in any extra curricular activity that is not organized and tied to school activity. I'm also extremely involved at their school. I know what's going on in most cases. I run my own business and work 12 to 13 hr. day often but will never let anything interfere with my Childs education. My wife and I make every parent teacher conferences, every PTA meeting, and volunteer at the school. I usually get the school schedule at the beginning of the year and add it to my calendar and treat all events as if it a business meeting. I'm their on time. It is my way of letting the shcool administration and teachers know that I have my eye on them and their process at the school.

I notice that children who parents do not show up are often pushed to the side. It is not like when I grew up at all. Parents are out their making things happen for their children at school and we need to do the same.

If anything were to happen at my child's school, I'm on first name bases with most teachers and administration and would call a meeting immediately. They are directed to contact me if my child is having a bad day or I will let them of any issues prior to the school day.

We all need to build relationships with the administration and teachers at the schools our children attend. Attend parent teacher’s night, attend the PTA meetings, and volunteer to check up on the school. If parent take the initiative to participate maybe the unthinkable will not happen to their child and someone else child as well. This is a proven method that some parents practice all over the country.

If you and other parents are at the school often enough, guard like the butt hole that broke the little girl’s wrist can be identified and request to be replaced long before an incident like this occurs. Maybe the school will not have a need for the guards because the parents will be in control of their school safety. I challenge parent to be proactive and get involved in their child’s education from all aspects to ensure their success. Make sure they respect the educators and the educators respect your child as well. Prepare your children to compete in this world. (Find Scholarships on connectingus.net and up and coming community.)

Note:
This incident angers me to no end. The school and the security guard should be sued for a great deal of money. This is the only thing people of authority understand.

Ms. Layla,
I'm glad you finally see that they are not with us, don't want to be with us, and most of all, hate us!!! Girl, don't you remember "Roots"?? Kizzy thought Missy Ann was her friend and trusted her until she turned on her and had her sold away from her family!! You're right, there's no difference in those times and these, except moderation and technology. They(whites) are the creaters of hypocracy. They'll never see us as equals............

You are so correct about being active at the school. I was explaining to my cousin, that I, too and often at school, even if means going to work late, or leaving early. For my lunch hour I pop in, just to see how things are going even if I have to make up my time on the back end. I know all the teacher, principal, administrators and guards. My child does not have a problem because they never know when I will pop up. My cousin is under the impression that you have to have an appointment. Not so, they had a white lady at my son's high school in PG county that was deciding which kids could take a mandated by the state foreign language class. This woman without knowing any of the kids, of course, was ensuring that black male children would not take this class, even though this means they won't be able to graduate. She tried with me, I went to the principal and then the school board. My son is in the second year of his foreign language, but other parents where upset that they're kids where not allowed, I explained that you have to fight your children, especially yours male children. I have the syllabus for all his classes, if I feel the teacher is not living up to her end, I first go to the principal and then the county superintendent. When my other son had taken all the required classes for graduation by the 10th grade and the school said we don't have anything to offer him, I went to the school board and stated I didn't care if it was just him a teacher, he's required to go to school and you are required to teach him. That child was who who of America High School. People please remember, pop up, sit in a classroom, monitor the teachers as well as the administrators let them see your face so often, they won't try this stupid stuff on your child. Oh I had a administrator tell me years ago, they look for the kids of the parents that show up for school functions and don't respond to school calls, just they're way of cleaning house.

I'm with you.................someone had mentioned that if we(blacks) were not to spend at Christmas time, it would really hit them(whites) in the pockets. I say we do this. Explain to our kids why there will not be a big christmas this year, make them understand what is going on to our own people. Make them gifts, make christmas dinner for them, play games as a family, do whatever besides spending your hard earned money to make their pockets fatter and ours more skinny. Please, we should really do this.............that'll show em.:p

The Gang Abatement and Prevention Senate bill 456 has already passed the senate on Sep 21, 2007, . It is important to note that the bill will allow juveniles to be locked away for life and if I understand correctly also without the possibility of parole. The following site shows the whole bill which talks at least one time about life and a judge not being able to reduce the sentence with mean without possibility of parole in my book http://www.theorator.com/bills110/text/s456.html.

This bills states that 5 or more people is a the definition of a gang which would mean the Jena6 could have been considered a gang. That is how the some people in government create laws that are spun into another problem. Think about it. We have to stop this bill now. Everyone has to write their Congressmen/women and get this billed thrown out!!!! It is important to note that the bill will allow juveniles to be locked away for life and if I understand correctly also without the possibility of parole.

This week two senators introduced a new bill called the “Youth Promise Act” that is suppose to be a better bill. The individual that told me about the bill because I arrived late to the forum is shown below:

Nancy Gannon Hornberger
Executive Director
Coalition for Juvenile Justice
(202) 467-0865 ext 111
(301) 602-1266 (cell)
nancy@juvjustice.org.

During the Jena6 Issue Forum at the CBC, Congressman Conyers stated that there will be a hearing on the Jena6 events on 11 Oct, 2007 @ 1:30pm. I am sending out an email tomorrow to inform everyone about the hearing as well and to ask them to join A Call to Action (ACT-A) on Oct 11th at the hearing to show their concern.

ACT-A is also going to ask individuals to start a writing campaign to their US Congressmen/women to let them know how concerned they are. The attorney for Mychal Bell was present at the Jena6 Issue Forum, as well as, Rev. Jesse Jackson. The attorney told everyone there that the Judge that sits on the Adult court also sits on the Juvenile court. I later spoke with the lawyer and others from Louisiana on Sat at another event and asked them what we can do to help get rid of the DA and the Superintendent of the School Board.

I was told that if we are going to try and help we need to concentration our writing efforts on getting the Judge removed from the case, because he is more influential and controls the DA actions in the court room. Then after we were done talking another person from Louisiana walked up to me and told me that if I was going to write anything that I needed to tell everyone that the DA, Blanco, Attorney General are all Democrats and that they take our votes for granted.

So email me at jena6indc@verizon.net to get additional information and check out my website for information on our writing campaign.

Why is the guard not in jail? If the girl's mother would broken her arm she would have been arrest for child abuse. So if that is the case why is the guard not in jail. So what they are saying is you as a parent can't beat your children, but other certian people can. Unreal.

I agree with you 100%. You labeled this correct. The guard only gets a slap on the wrist for breaking one of our children's wrist. We need to get back on the bus and we need to keep getting on the bus and march in every city and state for equal justice and rights for our youth. This is another form of genocide, getting rid of our young blacks, either by murder or lockdown. One march will not solve the problems we are facing. We gotta keep going.

Mike, we got your back. Just say the word.

This story happened two years ago in St. Petersburg, Florida

A 5-year old little girl in kindergarten is arrested and handcuffed by 3 police officers
for having a temper tantrum.

here's the link to the story...

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/04/25/earlyshow/main690601.shtml

Up until just before the Jena 6 march there was a video clip of the 3 police
officers forcibly bending the little girl over a table and forcibly bending her
arms behind her back and over her head to handcuff her while she cried
and screamed in horror.

CBS has taken the video down; but you can still see the image of the little girl crying and
screaming while the 3 police officers forcibly handcuffed her.

There was a copy of this video on YouTube but they took it down from there as well... mmm!

I saw the video clip with my own eyes and it was unbelievable and horrific!

I was so angry after seeing the video clip, that tears ran down my face and I am a grown man!

What the heck is going on?

A. Webb, PhD.

Alright, Already. Let the Movement begin. We can't start and stop at one march, we gotta keep going. The cycle of misuse and abuse of our kids is never ending and so must our movement be the same. I am in Baton Rouge, LA and will certainly be contacting you very soon. Let's make this happen.

White on black CRIMES have not gone away, I remember the days of writeing SOUL BROTHER on your house in DC in the 60's so it was not burned down. The power kegs fuse is very short and something is going to blow.
Cake on the floor is just the begining, whats next? You cant drink from that fountan, or use that rest room?

I remember the days also back in the 60s when we placed black Xs on the houses for the same reason. Looks like they are trying to bring us back to that era. Service at the back window, riding on the back of the bus, white only water fountains, hosing us down. If we let them, it will happen. We gotta get a movement going, NON STOP to protect our babies. They build prisons based upon how many of our young black men are born each year knowing full well in advance that they will find a way to imprison 7 out of 10 of them for life.

Let the revolution begin. And, for our younger family members, go online and search for a CD by a group called the Last Poets. The first rappers, and listen carefully. The messages to their rap was and is very strong.

This story has motivated me to be pro-active in addressing this problem and
not just re-active.

One reason this type of thing continues to happen is because there is a
perception, that we do not know our rights as citizens and that we do not
have the resources/motivation to enforce and protect our rights as citizens.

This perception must be annihilated.

I had previously mention that what I do for my family each year is to prepare the meal (and I do have a large family), and make gifts for them. If you have to go out and buy gifts, do so from your own or other people of color but do so now and not at the busy holiday season. For my nieces and nephews, I put a few dollars in an envelope. Go to the flea markets, there are a lot of black vendors selling their wares. I stopped spending my money at Christmas a very long time ago. Trust me, if we start spending our dollars with our own, you will hear them holla. We spend and buy the most expensive things anyway. Let's get back to the basics and try to band together as a united people.

DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY SHOPPING AT CHRISTMAS AND SPREAD THE WORD TO ALL OF YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS. LET'S PUT THE HURT ON THEM.

I agree. They don't want our children to learn so we need our own schools. Furthermore we live in our own communities and we need to learn how to be self sufficient. We generate and spend an enormous amount of money and we can have our own businesses, schoools and communities. We can thrive and be successful without their predjucies.

If parents complained about this security gaurd why hasnt the school done something or investigated this matter when complaints were made about him I blame the principal he is much at fault and I do think the security gaurd use excessive force!!! and besides they have cafeteria workers to clean up the mess thats what they are there for.

Girlfriend you are missing the whole point about the story you have a over agressive security gaurd that should have been investigate a long time ago when parents started complaining and do you not realize the the cafeteria workers are there to clean whatever food that was left behind thats what they get paid for!! I dont know if you know the young lady but PLEASE put your difference of opinion aside and and think about if it was you. I am a concerned citizen. I have been listening to the show and I am flabbergasted.

I contacted the Antelope Valley School District regarding the Knight H.S. incident. Please call the Superintendent Dr. VIERRA. His phone number is: (661) 948-7655 Extension 225. His secretary's name is Ms. B. White. Call and ask what action has been taken against the security guard who broke a child's arm.

The security guard is an employee who has vowed to protect the students he is serving. His conduct is criminal. He should serve time in jail and be barred from stepping foot near any school/campus.

I will be calling the Superintendent daily.

Encourage the community to do the same. WE must continue to call, ask questions and EXPECT action!!!!! Continue to call principal Mr. McDougal at Knight School - The number again is (661) 533-9000

I believe there are two sides to every story, however, shouting and cursing does NOT warrant a broken wrist. Nor does a cake fight! If I was in the same position as the mother, I would be furious...to know that your daughter was slammed against a table and that she was injured by a man over 3 times her size and that the principal is not concerned! It would take all my strength not to attack the principal too. This is unacceptable! It is not a shock to say that this could have been handled much better. This child is not a terrorist and the school's response is extreme and racist. The security officer was dealing with children, not grown men!

Unbelievable!
Marching on Jena was cool for the most part, but I think its time to stop being reaction oriented and more proactive oriented. We can't march everywhere, we need to do something on a bigger level. The justice system has got to be the main focus.
I say lets assemble committees throughout the U.S. and lets really discuss what needs to be done in the communities. We need to be smarter and stronger this time. They already robbed us of our history, language, and basically our family, we need to make sure our future is secure (by future, I mean our children).

Real Talk
10-05-2007, 10:15 AM
Here our people go again co-signing bad behavior by our half-raised kids. The theme of the new millenium generation of black Americans. Growing up in the 1970s, when someone in authority, be it your parents, police, teacher or anyone in a position of authority told a child to do something, the child did it, no questions asked and if the child refused, punishment was swift and sure, usually ending in a paddling at the school and followed by another one at home. Not anymore. But that's probably why the closest thing we had to school security was crossing guards at the corner.

Everyone is in an uproar because the child and her sister were injured fighting the security guard because she refused to clean up all of the cake she dropped. Then momma, with all the grace of a tazmanian devil, comes to the school and batters the school principal. Wonderful lesson this parent has taught her child in conflict resolution. The apple never falls far from the tree. Its not a strange thing her child and many children of drama queens and non-existent fathers find themselves in bad situations.

Kids will always do dumb stuff, always have and always will. The difference between this generation of black Americans and previous generations is this generation turns a blind eye to any wrong-doing by our own, especially our children. We're raising a generation of children who will not be able to function responsibly and productively in a hard, unforgiving world as adults because they simply don't know how to handle adversity, when they are placed in an uncomfortable position. All this marching and uproar over the consequences of our children's bad behavior, which put them in a position to be punished in the first place, is only making this generation the masters of enablement.

As much as our people love to point fingers at everyone but themselves and rant, hoot, hollar and march at the drop of a hat, we are contributing to a higher unemployment, teen pregnancy and crime rates for years to come. Who's going to march for this child at 25 or 35 or 45 when they can't keep a job because they can't handle supervision. That's why we have more and more grown children living at home because they can't keep a job long enough to build good credit, pay rent or a mortgage.

Our co-signing of bad behavior is an extension of the national 'no child left behind' program. They won't be left behind at 15 but they will be at 25, 35 and 45. We are spending more time, energy and resources defending nonsense instead of character-building.

Anyone in the law enforcement or security fields knows working school security with black American children is a nightmare. I wish it wasn't but it is. You have to be desperate to take a school security position because the aggravation isn't worth it. These kids don't respect anything, you can't tell them nothing, are quick to challenge you, curse you out, fight you and they know you can't do much to them without putting your job or career (if you're off-duty police) in jeopardy because they are not going to be peaceful. And if you do get into a confrontation with them, you know they calling momma (never daddy) whose going to come up to the school and try to bumrush you.

The only thing I fault this security officer for is caring enough about his job to get involved. Like the girl's supporters on this board and her momma, he should have turned a blind eye and walked away. Its better to let these kids crash and burn without intervention and save yourself some grief and stress. The security guard probably was old-school and didn't believe in taking any crap off of children. You can't be that way with these kids. Better to not care, chill for eight hours and collect your paycheck. Its a shame you have to do that but trying to hold these kids accountable for anything is like throwing sticks at a tidal wave. It is career suicide.

You can't be old-school with this generation of kids because their parents aren't old-school. Its all about co-signing dumb stuff, hell-raising, marching and filing lawsuits now.

Old-school was the 'do-it generation'. This generation is the 'screw-it generation'. Anything goes now. There are no rules of conduct. Its all about misplaced pride in being gifted in showing how hard we can beat our chests, how much we can spoil our kids without discipline, how much we can do the absolute fool and how totally inept we are at cleaning up our own house.

If it was my daughter, I'd probably be in jail too! You don't send your child to school to be injured by a security guard. Yes, some children are "half-raised"...is this a justification of that guards action? No one said it is ok to have a cake fight or curse someone out royally in school. Injustice is injustice, period!

…because we didn't need them. This is what you get when you ask the government to raise your children. Knowing that many won't make it to the end of this post, I'll write the conclusion first:

These "children"*, wouldn’t have problems, if parents did their jobs.

Now, for those of you still with me. I don't worry about my children having a run in with the authorities because they know how to behave and show respect for adults; especially those in authority positions. It's amazing to me that a "child" can say,” I dropped some cake on the floor and when I didn't clean it up the security guard broke my wrist" and people are ready to get on buses. I agree that we should get on buses. We should get on the buses that these manners less children get on and teach them some etiquette. Get on the bus and pay a visit to the underperforming school where you've sentenced your children to be imprisoned through ignorance and tortured with underachievement and provide assistance (or backup as the case may be) to the faculty and staff. Get a transfer downtown to the National Education Association's local office and ask them why they continue to advocate social experimentation and the absolute banishment of morality instead of EDUCATION. Get a Greyhound ticket to the Democratic National Committee HQ and ask them, “Why, since you've been given the black vote on a silver platter for half a century, should we be denied the right to choose the schools to which we send our children?" Stay for a day or two and meet with your senators and representatives are and ask them to pass legislation to privatize government schools, give tax credits or vouchers so that not only will we have a choice but a choice between companies competing for our business. When you get back home, take a look in the mirror and decide whether or not you’re doing the things that will protect our children pre-incident or are you teaching/allowing behaviors that all but guarantee a run in with the authorities.

It would seem that after all this time we would have learned that jumping on every half-truth bandwagon diminishes the power of our righteous indignation. Whereas, becoming and creating solid citizens imbued with a strong sense of morality and self discipline reduces the chances of incident and gives us the full moral authority to correct injustices when they do occur.

*when your old enough to spew vulgarities at an authority figure you give up your protections under the unwritten "innocent child" codes.

I dont know where you are going with all of this, but I dont care how the cake ended up on the floor personally. Food fight, accident or whatever, the rent-a-cop had no right to BREAK the sistas WRIST!! Then to call her a nappy head on top of it??? Well, as it always goes, we are the ones always bringing up race, but yet he is the one who called her a nappy head. RIIIIIGHTTT!!!! Go figure.. While you sit on your throne figuring out ways to say its the little girls fault, I'm gonna tell ya, while white people are just half of our problems and the other half might be self inflicted, know this... Sometimes white people are just LOW DOWN!! Such as this case.

If you detain my child after you have broken a body part, trust me, charging in the school is only the beginning for me.. Dealing with my child, just pray you still have a school to go to the next day.

I'm certain he didn't break her wrist intentionally, its hard to control someone who is out of control. Just like people who get hurt resisting arrest. The security officer did what he had to do. If she had went peacefully, there would have been no reason to control her physically.

But like I said, the security guard should have ignored it because it just wasn't worth the aggravation he now has to deal with. Because of the uproar, he may lose his job because most school administrations are spineless and are quick to buckle under public pressure to make the situation go away.

I think its getting to the point where you're going to have less policing and security of black Americans because its easier to let us destroy ourselves than try to serve and protect us. If white people really wanted to destroy us, provide minimum policing and security, let the gangs police the neighborhoods and the residents pay taxes to the drug dealers. There is no uproar when blacks kill each other. Our people don't have a problem when the color of the person pulling the trigger isn't white and doesn't wear a uniform.

I'd pull security out of all the schools in black communities. If the kids tear the place down, oh well. If they kill each other, oh well. We can't be policed. We want to have the freedom to behave like wild animals on the loose and no one bet not say anything to us or try to hold us accountable. Fence off the ghettos and keep the police out of them.

The school system needs to be segregated and privatized. Let us fund and police our own, expect for the few of us who can function peacefully in the real world. Build reservations for blacks like the indians. Empty the prison system of blacks and pour them into these reservations.

MB) Michael Baisden & Family

There's truth in alot that you said. Read Deuteronomy, Ch. 28...........it scared me to death so, that i slept with a light on after i read it,because it describes US. We should stop saying" we need to do this, we need to that" and just START DOING!!!! What are we afraid of today??? I can't say that enough. My opinion, and some might not like this, is that we start with our brothas loving our sistas again and stop helping other races to stereotype us so badly. Not all, but dam near too many brothas are jumpin the fence to get to the "so called" greener grass, leaving sistas behind. I won't go into their reasons, but the "others" have the same issues as us sistas. Malcolm X said it best when he said we need to love ourselves first before we can give love to others. We must first communicate and embrace our own before we do with others...............

He didnt mean to?!?!?!?! What the???????? How do you know he didnt mean to?? How do you know she resisted?? The clip didnt show nobody resisting. It showed the brotha taping the incident getting jack'd. It showed the rent-a-cop twisting her arms up. Its clear he sucks as a rent-a-cop so he should lose his job, but he would make helluva janitor though.

By the way, nobody cares about blacks killing blacks because they are black... Was that a trick statement of some kind??? Face it, white people are as flakey as dandruff..

Hi Micheal,

Being that you have finally opened the doors back opened to the "don't mess with my family theory", should I say "Our next bus ride will be .............

It will not take long until the states get the message. We as a family got too comfortable and situations have been thrown in our face constantly.

This situation is ridiculous but you would be suprised how this is being practiced in our schools throughout. and this was a concerned parent. These schools want to confront but can not deal with confrontation.

The guard needs to sued for breaking that childs wrist and fired and then reevaluated to determine if he is competent to be a guard around children or if he needs to be assigned to the dog fights. That is improper behavior on his part. New scoop around town: We all like to be sent home with PAY. Sounds like an unplanned vacation to me.

Micheal, do your thing or send out the posse. (smile)

this post is for michael baisden, first off i want to say you are the man and thank you for all you do!! that's real!! i was able to speak with barbara white, susan mcdoogle's secretary just a few moments ago and we had a very lengthy conversation about this incident, susan was on the schoolgrounds with the student so she was not available for conversation. a third party arbitrator has been hired to investigate, the security guard is on paid admin leave per contract, she said all is well on the schoolgrounds, students are in class learning etc, etc. this is a newly built school surrounded by newly built homes, the majority of the residents are escapees of los angeles and sought a better life away from gangs and overpopulation however, the same scenario is seeping into palmdale. she stated 60-65 percent of residents are minorities of diverse backgrounds. everyone gets along within the community. the investigation will determine how the incident began, what lead up to it, and what fused the outbreak. this is stuff you probably already know about- but i'm glad i was able to reach someone there at knight h.s. and more importantly to be part of the solution and not the problem. barbara commended me on my mannerisms citing she has received threatening phone calls, people cursing at her and screaming obscenities and the like. i think it behooves us all to approach this and all other matters with afro-americans with an open mind and to get to the solution!! thx michael......

What report did you read?? When did she curse the rent-a-cop??? She obeyed him THREE times and it just wasnt good enough for him.

There is a fine line in teaching a child to respect adults and teaching a child to KISS WHITEY's arse!!!

Do people really still say "whitey"? Why is this okay but not "nappy head"? These are among the attitudes that are keeping our children from achieving their full potential. Not to mention getting them in trouble with the law.

It doesn't matter what the race of the authority is or how many times the request was made, she should have respectfully complied with his request. THEN, she could have lodged complaints with the school/school board/city/state to her hearts content that way he's under investigation, she's got a functioning wrist and mom isn't in jail. This is the same lack of discernment that is getting kids shot. It isn't about appeasement it's about survival.

Do you really believe that the guard said, "Pick up the cake" three times and then broke her wrist? I suppose he's a "guard in a bottle" waiting for someone to rub it three times so he can jump out and break some bones. Do you believe it was intentional? Do you think a security guard in an ELAY school is so prejudiced he grabbed this innocent, well mannered young lady and broke her wrist to make him feel better? I'm sure this princess didn't say anything untoward to help bring about this confrontation. Come on.

I've no doubt that there are some guards out there carrying chips on their shoulders. Just as there are police officers, supervisors and authority figures of all kinds who do. But, if you think that willful disobedience is the way we should solve (possible) racial injustices, try sitting on your boss’s desk and refusing to move until you get the raise you probably deserve but didn't get because you’re black.

I was appauled at the way the situation involving the security guard and the young girl who had her wrist broken at her school was handled We send our children to school to get an education not to be abused by some over zealous security guard. He is working at the wrong place. He should be working at a maximum security facility where he would get as good as he gave. The young ladies mother reacted as any other parent in that situation and for that she was dismissed from her job. Where is the justice in this situation? We as parents should not allow this to continue. Lately, there have been too many incidents happening to our children, and it's time for this to stop. Mr. Michael Baisden, you have been doing a great deal by putting the truth out there to inform us as to what is happening in this country. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work.

To listen to you, the sista had it coming.. So, let me get this right then..

She was probably just some ghetto trash black girl playing around and the Nice and gentle rent-a-cop politely walked up to her and said, "Ma'am, could you please remove the cake from the floor if you wouldnt mind?" And the ghetto girl said, "Hell no whitey!!! Now kick rocks!!" After the rent-a-cop turned around dejected wondering why would she talk to me so, he hear a loud crash and she is on the floor with a broken wrist along with her cousin and friend with a camera phone. A few minutes later without any word the Mother comes by the school just by chance just to hurt as many white people as she can. The white people were horrified!!! They had no choice but to the call the local authorites.

Okay??? You almost make it sound believable.. If it wasnt for the fact I grew up in Birmingham, I would probably buy what you are selling.

But I will let you tell me... What did a 16 year old girl do or say so bad that warranted her wrist being broken by a man three times her size???? Why didnt he want to be videotaped breaking her wrist?? Did the cake taste that bad??? Why did he call her a nappy head?? How can she lodge a request with her writing hand's wrist broken??

Finally, I say whitey because of my experience with whites.. Besides, nobody is going to confront me to my face about it.

:( THERE IS ALOT OF INCIDENTS OF RACISM IN SCHOOLS NOWADAYS. AND THE FIRST THING WE MUST DO AS PARENTS IS GET INVOLVED IN KNOWING THE PERSON WHO IS TEACHING YOUR CHILDREN.

CAUSE ALOT OF TIMES THESE TEACHERS ARE BRING HATRED AND RACISM INTO THE CLASSROOMS:

EXAMPLE: WHEN MY SON WAS ATTENDING SCHOOL BEFORE HE GRADUATED FROM FONTANA HIGH. HE HAD AN ASIAN SCHOOL TEACHER TELL HIM HIS GRANDMOTHER IS A NIGGA. AND I ASKED HIM WHY WOULD SHE SAY SOMTHING LIKE THAT AND HOW DID IT OCCUR. AND HE TOLD ME THEY WERE
PLAYING THE DOZENS. HER AND THE CLASSMATES. WHICH I THOUGHT(WHAT IS SHE CRAZY YOU DON'T PLAY WITH KIDS LIKE THAT.) REST TO SURE
I HAD MY BEHIND WAS UP TO THAT SCHOOL THE NEXT MORNING CONFRONTING HER BEHIND. AND REQUESTING A MEETING WITH HER AND THE PRINCIPAL IN CHARGE. SHE DENIED ALL ALLEGATIONS AND SINCE IT TOOK MY SON THREE DAYS AFTER THE INCIDENT TO TELL ME IT DIDN'T MAKE MATTERS ANY BETTER. BUT I STILL STOOD MY GROUND AND TOLD THAT PRINCIPAL IF THIS IS THE KIND OF TEACHERS YOU ARE HIRING THEN I NEED TO GO TO THE SCHOOL BOARD AND REQUEST THEM TO CHECK YOUR BACKGROUND AS A MAN IN AUTHORITY. COME TO FIND OUT THIS PRINCIPAL WAS A RACIST HIMSELF. AND THANK GOD HE WAS REMOVED FROM THAT SCHOOL.

BOTTOM LINE PEOPLE CHECK OUT THESE TEACHERS AND PRINCIPALS. AND IF YOUR CHILD COMES HOME, OR CALL YOU NEVER BRUSH THEM OFF ALWAYS CHECK THEIR STORIES OUT AND OBSERVE YOUR CHILDS BEHAVIOR . CAUSE ALOT OF TIMES THESE CHILDREN ARE TELLING YOU ABOUT THESE SCHOOLS
AND WE ARE NOT LISTENING TO THEM UNTIL IT'S TOO LATE OR SOMETHING HAPPENS.:(

IT'S SAD THAT THIS YOUNG GIRL GOT HER ARM BROKEN. BUT IT'S ALSO SAD
THAT THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST INCIDENT REPORTED FROM THIS SCHOOL AND PARENTS JUST STOOD BACK AND LET IT ESCALATE UNTIL SOMEONE GOT HURT. PARENTS WHEN YOU HEAR OF SOMETHING THE FIRST TIME.

DON'T LET THESE SCHOOL OFFICIALS GET AWAY WITH IT. STAND YOUR GROUND AND GET THEIR BEHINDS OUT OF THERE SO THESE CHILDREN WON'T HAVE TO GO TO SCHOOL IN FEAR.

FIGHT FOR YOUR CHILDREN WITH THE STROKE OF THAT PEN AND PAPER
CAUSE THAT'S WHAT IT'S GOING TO TAKE TO EDUCATE THEM RIGHT AND GET THE BAD SEED REMOVED:p

Its not that its starting up all of a sudden, it never stopped.. The only difference now is we are paying attention again.

My son at 8 years of age has already experience his first racial incident unfortunately. Some white kid in his class called him a monkey and spitted in his face. And you know how classy my child is?? He didnt do nothing to the boy, because his excuse to me was "he didnt want to be suspended from school." I cannot argue with that kind of thinking. But I am not as classy as my child. I went there with the intent of kicking that little boy square in his mouth, and give him the address to where I live so his parents can come and say something about it.. And trust me, I REALLY WANTED them to say something to me. There would've been a killing that day. But like my son, my wife [where my boy gets all of his goodness] calmed me down. But I told him not to talk to him or even or play with him any more. He has been told to stay away from my boy though, so that will have to do I guess. And we still see him from time to time. Everytime I do, my big toe itches, what does that mean???

Basically It sounds like the comments made is coming from someone who deals with children in the school system or in the streets directly, now children of all races no longer respect authority and that is the problem. I agree I would probably have a serious problem with someone in authority breaking my childs arm wrist or whatever, but one thing is cretain and two things are sure there is a problem within our community.

It's time for all of us to stop seeing white and black to some degree, my case in point is a teacher that taught elementary school when I was growing up who incidently was an African American female who did not play with her students, she demanded respect and she got respect, but again this was in the late 60's and 70's and guess what else? She actually broke a student's arm and paddle your behind when you got out of line, she taught at the same elementary school for many years and the parent's loved her.

Oh!! don't get me wrong I don't condoned what happened to this young lady and I can't even say that she said anything disrepectful we weren't there. The problem that we have within our communities is that there is a lack of respect for those in authority whether it's the teacher or ones mother, father, and grandparents. Most not all young people do not have the respect that our parent imparted in us when we were younger, back then it really was a village (the grandmother's/grandfather's and the neighbors) raising the children. You better not try it now some of the parents will cuss you out faster than their children.

I said it before and I will say it again, I love the fact that as a people we can fight one another as is the case with our sibling, but nobody else better not mess with our family, because we will definitely come together and fight against the outsider(s).

Please don't take the statement out of context, because I truly mean it from my heart and not in a bad way. It is time for us to stop killing one another in our neighborhoods and allow the crimes go unpunished, because of the code of the streets too many of our young men are dying. You have a lot of people that are critical of Bill Cosby, but when it comes to some of our people (African American) he does speak the truth, it's time for all of us to look at ourselves, because if we condon the behaviors of our children by not addressing them when you see them in action, we are just as bad as the one commiting the crime.

I applaud Michael Baisden and everyone else for igniting the fire under all of our feet. Please have a forum outside of the injustice and woes of African American children. I would like for us as a people with all the buying power that we have to come together and pull our resources together to uplift one another economically as well as educationally, so that the proverty that exist in our neighborhoods will not keep our people at each other the way that it has, which is basically a slave mentality, historically the master's plan was to divide and conquer which is what they did with our ancestors and at this point the master doesn't have to do anything anymore, because the seed planted has settle in and taken root in a lot of our (African Americans) minds. The fruits of his labor (self hatred) is shown everyday on many street corners, hospitals, and morgues.

I belive that just as we have come together to right the unequal senstence handed down, that we can come together in all manners of life as Les Brown says "Black Life Has Value" it is time that we all see that once again. It's all about respect.

That's it! I don't know how I've been so blind! Racism will save us all.

Witness accounts of the incident preceding what occurs in the video, describe her as being belligerent and abusive to both the security guard shown holding her against the table AND the female officer who initially broke up the FIGHT she was having with another girl after the FOOD FIGHT in which the cake was "dropped" on the floor.

While the point is obviously lost on some there is a definite advantage to holding the moral high road. Jailhouse logic gets you just that, the jailhouse. Had this "child" been acting in a civilized manner this situation wouldn't exist.

In all of this my sympathy is more with the boy with the camera phone than with the girl who caused the conflict. Save your raised right fist for those deserving of our efforts...

...Or we can all just go down to our children’s schools and "beat down" any teacher, administrator, security guard, teenager or kindergartner who looks at our little precious precocious ones the wrong way.

A beat down??? That is one of the better ideas you have had. Trust me though.. I dont care about why.. There is nothing a 16 year skinny girl could do to a big fat white man short of shooting him, [I didnt see a gun] that would make him "restrain" somebody to the point of breaking their wrist. And your only excuse is well she was in a fight?!?!?!? Well, she looked so much stronger than he did.. EWEEE!!!!!!!

You're not a "victim" if you had any part in instigating the confrontation in which you are "victimized". The same holds true for any case of self defense. Just facts not Ad Hominem attacks.

I'm not happy this young woman had to learn a lesson this way but we should teach our children (especially our daughters) not to enter into a fight (read: physical confrontation) they can't win. This goes for "pushing the buttons" of their significant other, law enforcement or anyone bigger, stronger or better trained then them. This doesn't excuse those who have a physical advantage from behaving inappropriately, they must be punished and punished severely, by why open that pandora's box unnecessarily?

The attitudes toward home schooling have been changing drastically in the last few years. As a result of the [free market] demand for alternatives to failing government schools (where children learn all sorts of poor behaviors) there are a lot of resources available to aid you in demonstrating your child's equivalency/superiority to their government schooled peers.

Now is the time for all black folks, young and old, to come to the aid of our people. In the 60's we did a whole lot of civil rights marching because of the racisim in this country. Some things have changed but we still have a very long way to go. In the 50's and 60's you didn't have so much BLACK ON BLACK crime. We as a people were fighting for a cause, we were ONE! Now it's so much of everyone for themselves and how many material items they can own. We as a people, marched so our kids would be able to go to ALL SCHOOLS. But let us not forget, not everyone was or is happy to see our children go to schools with other races. There is bigotry and racisim in our schools and in corporate american. It's a shame about the schools because these are children who had to taught how to hate, the older people, teacher and staff, are just mean and probably will never change. Our kid deserve better and it's up to all of us to fight for them.

You know, I have heard the radio personalities preach that there are always 3 sides to a story; yours, mine, and the truth. However, their ability to practice what they preach is little to be desired.

I admit, this is a bad situation, and I feel for the girl because of her physical pain, but I feel this is another situation where we are being spoon fed one side of the story. Again, what is being left out are the events leading up to her "arrest". We do not know enough to make such general statements about the white race because of one "abusive" security guard.

I am white, and hearing the show and the callers' responses to this event is making me sick. I hear WAY too much anger towards the white race as a whole. I read WAY too many posts about the need for school segregation, and I am to a point where I am fed up. If I am to be categorized with every event that your "leaders" tell you is a hate crime, then what is the point of me caring any longer? Do you not see the separation between races that is occurring every time an incident like this is dug up?

How do we know this is a racially motivated incident? What if these people were coincidently white and black? Incidents involving all races can be found all over the country when you search for it (example at the bottom), but just because Sharpton and his cronies have the means and indecency to ignite their "agenda" does not mean the world is falling apart.

Please people, dig for the truth. Understand that it is dangerous to ignite your anger based on the thoughts of people making money from your fury. We must understand the entire situation before the divide between the races increases.

Read in the following link about what happens when a white mother enrolled her two children in a Brooklyn school because she wanted them to have "racial diversity". How come there is no anger over this!?!? My point is that events like this happen to EVERY race. We are all victims if we search hard enough.

Ken and Lisa Brown relocated their family from a small Oklahoma town to Brooklyn, New York because they wanted their children to experience "racial diversity." What their two young sons experienced was vicious black racism, jealousy and violence.
Lisa, 33, placed her two sons, Sloan, 12, and J.T., 13, in the Ebbets Field Middle School in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
As soon as her sons arrived, the black "security guard" who is paid by the taxpayers to protect the children in school said, "Oh my gosh, we are going to have fun this year."
Sloan was beaten mercilessly by black students who called him "cracker" and "white boy." He was eventually chased into traffic by his new black "classmates."
The beatings, the threats and the torment got so bad that Sloan found his brother, and the two ran out of the school building to a subway station, while being subjected to verbal and physical attacks even as they fled.
"It almost makes me cry. I'm scared to go back," Sloan said.
For a whole week, the brothers stayed out of school while their parents made telephone calls to all types of officials complaining.
When their mother made repeated and urgent calls to the black school principal, Marge Baker, "the principal refused to take my calls," Lisa said.
The mother then filed several police reports with the 71st Precinct station house, but the police also ignored her complaints.
Last week, the police admitted that they ignored Lisa's complaints because, they said, such incidents should be handled by school staff - such as the black school principal who ignores a parent's urgent calls about her children's safety, and the black "security guard" who describes attacks on white students as "fun."

All of this over some cake on the floor? When will the madness stop and why are the kids in jail and the security guard sitting at home chilling on paid leave. It's not like they actually hit the security guards who were like 3 or 4 times their size in weight. This is a civil case just waiting to happen and righfully so.

Thank you!!!! for talking about the real issue. The fact that we need to take the time to educate and children and take the time out to go to the school unexpectly (that's what my mother did too) to check up on the teacher and our children as well. Every parent knows what their child is capable of because if they act out in the home they will act in the same manner in school and any where else for that matter, just ride public transportation in the morning and afternoon, you'll see just how disruptive a lot of these children are (I'm talking about all races).

We must address the real issue beside the racism that is at hand and that is some of our children don't respect themselve and they definitely don't respect other. Again thank you for showing the young people you encounter a positive image. Some of what we see protrayed from our children they get from watching their parents. It's a hard pill to swallow because right most only want to see one side of it. The change though begins with you and the change begins with me celebraties cannot be our children's role models.

Besides, nobody is going to confront me to my face about it.

ok so you're this big bad black man that EVERYONE IN THE WORLD is afraid of and you have nerve to post this on a thread .. oh that's right you're in the safety of your own environment so that's why you're bad ........... oooooooh .. i wonder how proactive your mouth really is on issues concerning afro-americans. maybe you should give that a try, use your mouth to become part of the solution and not to become part of another issue .. jerk

But you know what our people's problem is??? They all caught up in trying to get paid by "any means necessary." Children allowing themselves to be pigeon holed into what their lives will be. Instead of letting their imagination take them to the four corners of the space. Our race in General is stuck watching channel ZERO... And trust me, like George Wilborn says "White folk are popping the champagne bottles."

I am appalled of what I just saw. I feel that starting with the Jena 6 incident & other stories I hear about is like living in the 60's all over again. This is outrageous.I can't believe this is 2007 & we have to march & protest for equal rights as if it was 40 something years ago. African Americans have struggled for so long & not because of but in spite of. I love to see the unity we have because if we don't, who will stand up for us. My heart goes out the family in Palmdale, Ca, Jena, La. & wherever we have been treated unfairly & injustly.

You can look at this world and tell me what positivity is going on??? Other than GOD allowed me to see another day, that is about it. While you pat yourself on the back because some white woman congratulated you on good manners, I will sit back and see what these folks decided what to do about a black girl that has been assaulted and a Mother unjustifiably prisoned. And listen to your own PRIDE statements before you try teach somebody else. I dont need a white ANYBODY to tell me how SMART, well manner, or anything else to know I am. That's all you.. The African American.. I'll continue to educate the truth, I'm the BLACK MAN.. See the difference??? Pathetic...

Having been employed in occupations where restraining someone against there will was part of the job description I know for a fact how easy it is for someone playing tough to get hurt accidentally or just as often; hurt themselves while resisting. From what little we can see from this video I'd say it's probably the former, but anyone who has changed a noncompliant baby's diaper knows that getting compliance while not inflicting pain is difficult now try it with a nearly full grown person. It's definitely not an exact science and stuff happens.

I wasn't really expecting to be able to have a serious conversation about solutions here, but I thought I'd give it a try.

There was good reason for the decline of the civil rights era type marches and protest; they'd accomplished about all they could. Taking advantage of the advances made during that time is a matter of instilling in our children the desire and discipline required to educate themselves. Expending all of your collective energy over slight and non-issues is a tragic waste.

Having said that, if anyone wants to organize marches on drug and violence infested neighborhoods that are killing our next generation by the hundreds; I'm listening.
