:p PEOPLE DON'T REALIZE IT WAS THE POOR PEOPLES SWEAT AND BLOOD THAT BUILT THIS NATION.

AND IT'S EVEN WORST WHEN A PERSON THAT HAS SO MUCH GIVE SO LITTLE TO HELP THE POOR. AND LOOK DOWN ON A PERSON CAUSE THEY DON'T HAVE WHAT THEY HAVE.

EVERY PERSON DON'T REALIZE THEY ARE ONE STEP FROM BEING POOR. FOR EXAMPLE WHAT IF THE STOCK MARKET CRASHED TODAY? HOW MANY WILL BE JUMPING OFF THE BUILDING CAUSE THEY LOST EVERYTHING THEY HAD? IT MAKES YOU WONDER DOESN'T IT.

WE RESPECT THE ALL MIGHTHY DOLLAR MORE THEN WE RESPECT HUMAN LIFE. MAKES YOU SAD DOESN'T IT.:(

TO ME BEING POOR MEANS YOUR RICH IN SPIRIT. CAUSE NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY THE RICH MAN HAVE. HE CAN NEVER TAKE THE HEART AND SOUL OF A POOR MAN AWAY AND THAT'S PRICELESS.

Upon reflection, however, I believe that the problems do go further than race. The poor in this country definitely suffer injustice as well. Unfortunately, in the minds of many, the only thing worse than being poor is being poor and Black. In fact, being raised in the South, the only people higher on the social scale than black people were “poor white trash”.
Furthermore, we (middle-class white people) as a whole have become so engrossed in dealing with our own inability to live up to the standard of living that we feel entitled to; we grow less and less concerned with those who are not as fortunate as we. This point was proven once again on Friday when the overwhelming majority (45%) of respondents to the query on MSNBC: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19876326/ voted that they wished to have the growing plight of the “middle class in dealing with the financial squeeze” covered by the news agency, rather than the plight of poor blacks and racism as viewed in light of the Jena 6 affair (7%).
We have truly become a nation of Sodomites, in the truest application of the term: Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. –Ezekiel 16:49.
It would seem that this verse of scripture clearly identifies the American middle and upper class: arrogant, fat, lazy and selfish.
What is even more distressing is that many of the organizations (particularly churches) that claim as their intention to help the poor and needy, seem more concerned with filling their own coffers and expanding their buildings than they are with truly reaching out to the needy. (as I heard a local pastor state recently “I take care of the ones that pay the bills”) In the interest of being charitable, I could somewhat understand a lack of direct action, but I find the overwhelming silence from many of my fellow clergy unconscionable! It would appear that we have lost not only our boldness, but our moral compass as well.

Even though racism is a huge part of the Jena 6 travesty, classism is also part of the equation. Even though I can't imagine that it would have taken nearly as long for the government to evacute poor whites and they would probably never been referred to as "refugees", poor whites still have more in common with us than with wealthy whites. And while they might forget that by virtue of the color of their skin, the powers that be never do. Overall, the poor are all equal.

It seems like we're in this mass trance. Some kind of psychological warfare, media manipulation where our thoughts are not our own and we aren't fully aware of it. How could United States citizens watch the footage of Katrina and what their fellow citizens went through without complete outrage, otherwise? How could we watch George Bush on vacation and governmental balls dropping left and right and say nothing, otherwise? These boys in Jena, huh? Enough people have heard about it now that I should be hearing something about them at least as much as I hear about Brittany Spears or Paris Hilton. We're sleepwalking, going through the motions of life trying to make sure that "I get mine''. If it doesn't effect me directly then it only merits a sound bite in my mind. That is a way of being that will not serve us any longer. Indeed, it is the reason that we are here where we are, a disgraced and dishonored place in society. Only we can revive our bastardized legacy. It it up to me and I have one of the richest and most honorable legacies in the history of mankind to support my success. The legacy of my ancestors. We just need to remember who we are.

Thanks Mike for being one of many vessels bringing Light into the world and helping so many to WAKE UP!

people in this day in age? It is funny because I think the "POOR" people are those that don't know the LORD! For those that love the LORD love ALL people.

Honey people thought & treated me as if I were poor because I drove a ’89 old white dodge caravan (up until three months ago). I AM far from being poor because I AM so richly blessed. I allow myself and my children to go through situations. I don’t want my children not to understand what it is or how it feels to want, how it is or feels to visualize like some unfortunate children in today’s society. Because one thing is for sure every single time we pass someone on the street asking for money my children want to give to EACH one of the “POOR” but again I ask who are the “POOR”.

It's funny how much the world has turned away from the Bible! Though, this has been on purpose per our INTELLEGENT GOVERNMENT but shame on those who have gotten caught in this WEB!

AND yes I Am one that REALLY cares about ALL people. My grandmother made sure myself and my siblings cared for she opened her home for the poor & hungry!

Always: Love, Peace & Harmony all over the world

I am one who cares and will always care about people lost, poor, and in despair.
I have been this way since I was a child and see that many folks as a whole think about themselves on a regular basis because of money.

I have been trying to get folks to feel my vision to help stop poverty for quiet sometime and ya know what? They aren’t listening. My children, a few friends, and I have held car washes for shelters of the homeless, fundraising events and bake sales. I take that back a hand full of folks at each event just gave for the cause. Folk’s actions and intentions will never stop me from doing the right thing. They have to answer for their own actions, we all do.

I don't believe it is about race I have seen and helped many of nationalities of race and religions who are homeless and in despair. If there isn’t anything in it for them (the ones who can afford to help) they aren’t budging a dime to the displaced ones way. What's theirs is theirs and what's yours is yours. My plan, I will make a change in that vision of rain on this Earth.

In the end God (Allah) says we all HAVE TOO HELP each other (society) after we have helped ourselves. It is called sacrificing your wealth for a good cause.

The reason most of us don't care about the poor wether white, black or whatever is because we have lost our own since of togetherness. I remember as a young boy my grandmother would feed whomever came to the house, and my mother carried on that tradition or shall I say since of goodwill. There were times we may not have had much on the table but my mother always fed our neighbors children.

In today's society I have seen where one of us may make it we don't turn and extend a helping had because some of us not all may feel or even say, hey I had to make it on my own and so do you. If we all just look in ourselves we will see that we had help and need to give back if its no more then showing kindness instead of stares. Poor people are human too, and if you think about it living paycheck to paycheck you not but a stones throw away from being poor yourself. So the next time you see a poor person instead of passing them by or walking on the otherside extend a helping hand cause we did not make it alone

AND GIRL I DROVE A 1964 MUSTANG RAGGEDY AS ALL OUTDOORS. AND I DIDN'T CARE WHAT PEOPLE THOUGHT ABOUT ME.

CAUSE DEEP DOWN INSIDE
WHAT REALLY MATTERS IS WHAT YOU DO WITH GOD DETERMINES YOUR OUTCOME ON LIFE'S TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS.

AND GOD KNOWS HE HAS BROUGHT ME THRU MANY OF TIMES. EVEN FROM BEING HOMELESS.

NEVER UNDER ESTIMATE THE POWER OF GOD PEOPLE. CAUSE IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT RELIGION IT'S ABOUT AND RELATIONSHIP.

YOU CAN BE THE POOREST PERSON IN THIS WORLD. BUT WITH A HEART AND SOUL THAT HAS BEEN MENDED BY GOD. YOU CAN BECOME RICH IN SPIRIT AND LIVE LIKE YOUR ON A KING OR QUEENS RANSOM.:)
